  • Patent number: 5380064
Abstract: A rotatable seat mounted on a floor includes a seat proper, a lower base member mounted on the floor, an upper base member mounting thereon the seat proper and a retaining member for retaining the upper base member on the lower base member. The lower base member has a first annular portion. The upper base member has an annular flange portion and a second annular portion which is truncated conical in shape. The annular flange portion is rotatably put on the first annular portion such that the upper base member is rotatable relative to the lower base member. The retaining member is secured to the lower base member and has third and fourth annular portions. The third annular portion is opposed to and spaced from the first annular portion such that an annular groove for receiving therein the annular flange portion is defined therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5370350
Abstract: A seat slide device including a lower light-alloy guide rail rigidly mounted on a floor panel through a leg member attached to the lower rail, an upper light-alloy guide rail which is slidably fitted to the lower rail and firmly secured to the bottom of a seat, and bearings rotatably disposed between the upper and lower rails, comprises a reinforcement arranged along the inner wall of the rear end of the lower rail for enhancing a rigidity of the rear end. The leg member is arranged along the outer wall of the rear end of the lower rail in a position where the reinforcement and the lower rail are overlapped with each other so that the three members are stratified to each other. The three-stratified members are integrally coupled to each other by fastening rivets. The reinforcement is integrally formed with a bearing stopper restricting a maximum rearward displacement of the bearings.

  • Patent number: 5370925
Abstract: An airbag of an airbag restraint system mounted on an automotive vehicle and adapted to protect a vehicle passenger in a serious vehicle collision. The airbag is formed of a cloth which is basically constituted of warp and weft yarns made of a high melting point polymer material. Low melting point polymer yarns are woven in the cloth in a manner to extend along the warp and weft yarns. The low melting point polymer yarns are located at predetermined intervals, and have a melting point lower than that of the high melting point polymer material. The low melting point polymer yarns melt upon heating in a heat treatment so as to be welded to the high warp and weft yarns thereby securely binding the warp yarns together and the weft yarns together.

  • Patent number: 5370416
Abstract: An airbag safety system for an automotive vehicle includes a housing having disposed therein a gas generator and a retainer which has a lower mounting flat surface for attaching an inflatable airbag tightly to the housing. The housing includes upper and lower members, the upper member being attached to the lower member and having a gas passage allowing gas to flow from the gas generator into the airbag, the lower member having an opening oriented towards the airbag. The upper member further includes an upper mounting flat surface which is formed on a peripheral portion of the gas passage and is contoured to the lower mounting flat surface of the retainer. With this arrangement, the entire circumferential edge portion of the airbag is interposed between the upper mounting flat surface of the upper member and the lower mounting flat surface of the retainer without any clearance for establishing an air-tight seal between the airbag and the housing.

  • Patent number: 5352018
Abstract: A support shaft has an integral protrusion which is abuttingly engageable with an arcuate portion of a support panel for limiting rotation of the support panel relative to the support shaft. A protrusion is provided at each axial end of the support shaft, while an opening with a slit-like opening portion is provided on each side panel of a seat back frame. The protrusion at each axial end of the support shaft and the opening at each side panel are constructed and arranged so that each axial end is capable of passing through the opening only when the support shaft is held in a particular position. The support shaft is put out of the particular position when in use such that each axial end is prevented from slipping out of the opening.

  • Patent number: 5310030
Abstract: An energy-absorbing fastened structure includes first and second platelike members which are tightly fastened by a fastener having a shaft portion. The shaft portion is passed through first and second through holes which are mated with each other and respectively formed through the first and second members. The first member is formed with an energy-absorbing means for absorbing a heavy shock load which exceeds a predetermined magnitude and is applied to the fastened structure. The absorbing means is to be deformed by the shaft portion which is forced to move together with the second member relative to the first member. With this, damages to the second member is prevented or at least minimized.
