Abstract: An apparatus and method of detecting components in a microfluidic sample. The sample and a plurality of microbeads are mixed within the microfluidic device. Each of the microbeads comprises a plurality of bioactive proteins bound thereon. A fluorescent signal is generated from a reaction of the microbeads and the microfluidic sample. The generated fluorescent signal is then able to be detected, wherein an intensity of fluorescence is directly proportional to a concentration of the peroxide generated.

Abstract: A method in a data processing system and apparatus for organizing files, data items, web site members, or web pages, structured or unstructured, of multiple users stored across one or more server computers into hierarchical file structures on a recordable medium of a data processing system. A user-defined metalabel is assigned to each of the electronic files, data items, web site members, or web pages. The electronic files, data items, web site members, or web pages are organized as a function of the metalabels into the hierarchical file structures. The method includes automatically weighting of individual metalabels as a function of a relevance of the at least one searchable term found in the corresponding one of the electronic files, data items, web site members, or web pages. Searching the plurality of hierarchical structures can then be done with a query including at least one term and a relevance threshold.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling a yaw moment of a flight vehicle, such as an aircraft. A wing structure of the flight vehicle has a first opening or actuator positioned by a first apex section of a first side of the wing, and has a second opening or actuator positioned away from or at a distance from a second apex section of a second side of the wing. The first side and the second side can each be positioned or located opposite a centerline of the wing or wing structure. A pressure source or other pressure supply device is in communication with the first opening or actuator and the second opening or actuator to which a pressurized fluid, such as air, is controlled and delivered to control or vary the yaw moment of the flight vehicle.

Abstract: A method in a data processing system and apparatus for organizing electronic data, structured or unstructured, of one or more users stored across one or more server computers into structures on a recordable medium of a data processing system. The data is structured in a heterogeneous string structure, and one or more embedded n-dimensional range structure within the heterogeneous string structure. Searching the plurality of string structures can then be done with a query including at least one term and a range threshold.
Abstract: A method and system for sensing or characterizing a biomarker, such as a proteolytic enzyme or nucleic acid. The system comprises a nanopore sensor to determine a current modulation of a sample including a biomarker, and a predetermined substrate or nucleic acid probe current modulation signature for comparison to a current signature from the nanopore sensor. The nanopore sensor includes a nanopore membrane between two fluid compartments, and a power supply in electrical contact with the membrane to provide an electric potential difference between the fluid compartments. A detector is used to detect an electrical current through the nanopore as the polypeptide substrate, or components thereof, transits the nanopore under an applied electric potential difference between the first and second fluid compartments.
Abstract: A system and method for optical tomography including illuminating an object with pulsing stimulus light and pulsing the stimulus light at a repetition frequency having a pulse period that is greater than a dead-time of a detector. Coordinating the pulse with the dead-time of the detector allows for higher powered light source and improves early photon detection.

Abstract: A computer-implemented depth estimation method based on non-parametric Census transform with adaptive window patterns and semi-global optimization. A modified cross-based cost aggregation technique adaptively creates the shape of the cross for each pixel distinctly. In addition, a depth refinement algorithm fills holes within the estimated depth map using the surrounding background depth pixels and sharpens the object boundaries by exerting a trilateral filter to the generated depth map. The trilateral filter uses the curvature of pixels as well as texture and depth information to sharpen the edges.
