  • Patent number: 8011461
Abstract: This invention relates to a parallel hybrid electric conversion kit for a vehicle with an internal combustion engine, a driveshaft and a transmission, such as, rear wheel drive vehicles, four-wheel drive vehicles, heavy duty multiple-driven-axle vehicles and/or all-wheel drive vehicles. The conversion kit includes a motor-generator, a torque coupler, a battery, a power electronics module and a controller. Suitable torque couplers include transfer cases and/or rear-through differentials. The conversion kit provides an aftermarket solution to increased performance, fuel economy and/or reduced emissions by modifying the drivetrain after the transmission. According to one embodiment of this invention, the control scheme of the installed conversion kit receives input signals from the engine and the motor-generator, but only sends control signals to the motor-generator, facilitating installation of the conversion kit.

  • Patent number: 7779006
Abstract: A peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing system is provided with an enhanced search method for a client node therein. A search from the client contains a primary search of metadata words and a secondary search of content file keys taken from the primary search results. The results of the secondary search are then used to rerank the results of the primary search before the client displays the results of the search to the user. Metadata distribution schemes can also be used to further enhance the utility of the system. Enhanced P2P file searching accuracy is thus provided. Applications for selective peer-to-peer communication may further be employed.

  • Patent number: 7720869
Abstract: A method in a data processing system of searching a plurality of electronic files identified by filenames in a first hierarchical file structure that is on a recordable medium of the data processing system. A user-defined metalabel is assigned to each of the electronic files. The electronic files are organized as a function of the metalabels into a second hierarchical file structure existing simultaneously with the first hierarchical file structure on the recordable medium of the data processing system. A search query is received from a user and the metalabels of the second hierarchical file structure are searched as a function of the query.
