Abstract: A picture hanger has a base portion having a hole for an elongated fastener (nail or screw). The base portion carries a member enclosing a front face or the entire base portion. The member has a through hole aligned with and on one or both sides of the fastener hole. The elongated fastener is held in place in the holes so that the fastener need not be manually held during driving thereof into a picture frame or wall. The member is injection molded on the base portion, and consists essentially of nylon-6,6 having a Shore A hardness in the range of 80-90.

Abstract: Herbal compositions having anti-adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (aP2), anti-5-lipoxygenase-activating protein (FLAP) and anti-Cysteinyl Leukotriene (CysLT)-1 receptor expression activity contain an extract of Boswellia serrata. More particularly, these herbal compositions comprise an effective amount of an enriched Boswellia extract containing from 10% to 99% by weight of 3-0-acetyl-11-keto-?-boswellic acid; and an effective amount of a second extract selected from the group consisting of an extract of Aegle marmelos, an extract of Zingiber officinale, an extract of Garcinia mangostana, and mixtures thereof. These may be used in dietary supplements or pharmaceutical formulations for controlling diseases associated with or related to inflammation. These diseases in particular include respiratory disorders such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, hay fever, type-1 hypersensitivity and mild allergies. The compositions can also be useful for skin care.

Abstract: A picture hanger has an upper piece, a lower piece, and a screw that extends through apertures in shelves on bases of the pieces. The aperture on the lower piece has threads mating with the screw threads on the shaft so that when the upper piece is fixedly mounted on the vertical surface by an elongated fastener the lower piece is held in place only by the threads of the shaft engaging the threads in the aperture on the lower piece shelf. The base of the lower piece carries a picture wire receiving hook so that turning the screw enables the height of the picture to be changed. Strengthening ribs extend between the base and shelf of both pieces.

Abstract: This invention relates to novel triple salts of (?)-hydroxycitric acid having the general formula 1 wherein X, Y are selected from zinc or group IIA metal and Z is selected from group IA metal of the Periodic Table. Preferred salts are triple metal salts of calcium, magnesium or zinc and potassium. This invention also includes a process for preparing the triple salts by adding stiochiometric amounts of aqueous solutions of the compounds of the desired metal to an aqueous solution of (?)-HCA. Preferably an extract from garcinia fruit ring is used as a starting material. Compounds of this invention are substantially tastless, odorless and highly water soluble and find use in beverages and in neutraceuticals.

Abstract: A foldable treadmill is provided that can be easily reoriented for variable exercise inclinations, as well as, for convenient storage. The treadmill includes a tread assembly and an A-frame assembly positioned about the front end of the tread assembly. The A-frame assembly includes an inclination support connected to a front end of the tread assembly by hinges for varying inclination of the tread assembly. The inclination support can be driven by a motor to rotate the inclination support about such that the inclination support vertically displaces the front end of the tread assembly thereby varying the inclination of the tread assembly. The A-frame assembly includes intermediate and front supports hinged to each other at upper ends thereof. The tread assembly is rotatable to a generally vertical orientation for storage. In the stored position, the spacing between front and intermediate supports is reduced, further facilitating storage.

Abstract: This invention relates to novel polyhydroxy curcumins of the formula (I), wherein R and R1 may be same or different and are selected from H, OH and OCH3. This invention also includes a process for synthesising the above polyhydroxy curcumins by reacting substituted aromatic alhehydes with a diketone in the presence of boron oxide, alkyl borate and a primary or secondary amine catalyst. If desired, the resulting compounds can be deprotected by known means. These compounds are used as anti-oxidants.

Abstract: This invention relates to a novel process for preparing highly water soluble alkaline earth metal and alkali metal double salts of hydroxycitric acid. These salts are practically odourless and has negligible taste and are therefor useful as nutraceuticals. Aqueous extract of the fruits belonging to Garcinia species are treated to precipitate its alkaline earth metal salts such as the calcium salt. This sparingly soluble product is dissolved in alkali hydroxide and the pH of the solution is adjusted by adding purified extract of the fruit rind. Ca/Na or Ca/K double salts are particularly useful.
