A paging message is formed that includes a plurality of partial identities that identify access terminals that are to be paged. The partial identities are ordered, such as in ascending order. and additional bits are added to the paging message, associated with, and part of the partial identities, once ordered.

Abstract: A system and method for handling electronic notes in a mobile environment, wherein the system includes a memory configured to store an electronic note, which electronic note includes location information, a location detector configured to detect location information for the mobile device, and a processor configured to: monitor the location information for the mobile device based on data from the location detector; compare the location information for the mobile device with the location information in the electronic note; and activate the electronic note when the location information for the mobile device is within a predetermined distance of the location information in the electronic note.

Abstract: A mobile wireless communications device includes a housing and circuit board carried by the housing and includes radio frequency (RF) circuitry and a processor carried by the circuit board and operative with each other. A display connector for an LCD connector is mounted on the circuit board and adapted to be connected to a display. Display connection lines are carried by the circuit board and interconnect the display connector and processor for carrying signals from the processor to the display connector and a connected display. Filters are carried by the circuit board and connected to the display connection lines and reduce any interfering energy from the processor and display.

Abstract: A computer readable medium encoded with computer executable instructions thereon for execution by a processor of a mobile communication device (116) comprises a code segment (216) for message processing, which may include a code segment for rule comparison, a code segment for message routing and a code segment for default message handling. The message processing code segment (216) processes an incoming message received via a data service network (400). The message processing code segment (216) subsequently compares a portion of each incoming message to at least one criterion contained in at least one message routing rule having a message database object (418, 420) associated with it, stores each incoming message meeting each criterion for a message routing rule in the message database object (418, 420) associated with that message routing rule, and stores all messages not routed to a message database object (418, 420) according to a message routing rule into a default message database object (422).

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for searching and retrieving location information associated with one or more points of interests, whereby the search criteria can be dependent upon the location of a point of interest with respect to the real-time position of the user, and any preferences or search restrictions selected by the user, such as rating information about the point of interest. Upon selecting a point of interest from the search result, the user is then given further information regarding the selected point of interest, including but not limited to directions for traveling to the point of interest. Additionally, the present invention can provide to the user a proximity notification once the user is within a certain distance from the point interest.

Abstract: A system and method of pushing user-selected data items from a host system to a user's mobile data communication device upon detecting the occurrence of one or more user-defined event triggers is provided. The user may then move (or file) the data items to a particular folder within a folder hierarchy stored in the mobile data communication device, or may execute some other system operation on the data item. Software operating at the mobile device and the host system then synchronizes the folder hierarchy of the mobile device with a folder hierarchy of the host system, and any actions executed on the data items at the mobile device are then automatically replicated on the same data items stored at the host system, thus eliminating the need for the user to manually replicate actions at the host system that have been executed at the mobile data communication device.

Abstract: Data can be stored in a wide variety of formats, and it is recognized that not all terminals have the resources for storing the appropriate Application Program for processing and/or viewing the data as defined in a particular format. Systems and methods are described for dynamically processing a generic content expressed in a structured definition language. The systems and methods use an associated content handler having a set of instructions suitable for processing the content, such as XML content. The method comprises receiving a content envelope including the content and a reference to the associated content handler. The associated content handler is requested using the reference, the reference including a reference location for the content handler. Once obtained, the content is processed using the set of instructions of the content handler. The instructions can be expressed in script and/or code.

Abstract: A method and system that employs a proxy server associated with a mobile device in a wireless network, wherein the proxy server monitors whether the mobile device is still in coverage. The media service operates on top of a connectionless peer-to-peer packet-based transport protocol. If the proxy server detects that the device has lost coverage for more than a predetermined length of time, then it sends an out-of-coverage message to the other termination point engaged in the media service. The out-of-coverage message may instruct the termination point to release or cancel the service.

The access terminal detects a first page message that does not include an access sequence identifier. The access terminal responds to the first page message without waiting for detection of a second page message that includes an access sequence ID. The page message includes a message structure with partial identities where the access sequence ID is conditionally included. If the access terminal is to use a regular pool of access sequence IDs, the access terminal is not sent an access sequence ID in the page.

Abstract: In one illustrative example, a plurality of page message requests for a plurality of mobile devices which operate in a wireless communication network are received. One or more paging slots assigned to the mobile devices are identified for transmitting a plurality of page messages in response to these requests. However, the wireless network refrains from causing a page message for the mobile device associated with a tolerable delay indication to be transmitted within the one or more paging slots when a paging capacity limit of the one or more paging slots is reached. This allows higher priority page messages to be transmitted within the one or more paging slots. The wireless network subsequently causes a page message for the mobile device having the tolerable delay indication to be transmitted within one or more subsequent paging slots within a tolerable delay period corresponding to the tolerable delay indication.
