  • Patent number: 5460253
Abstract: A free-running roller coupling transmits in both directions of rotation a torque between two structural members. This coupling has an outer ring in which clamping tracks are formed by recesses. An inner element has a cylindrical clamping track. Pairs of clamping rollers, prestressed by a pressure spring against the ramp-like end of each clamping track, are arranged between the clamping track of the inner element and the clamping tracks of the outer ring. An unblocking arrangement has comb-like carriers that extend through slots in an edge of the outer ring, which carriers can unblock the rollers while allowing the outer ring to be driven by a switching sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5458422
Abstract: In a zero-clearance radial ball bearing, two outer bearing race sections (4, 5) made by non-cutting methods together support an outer race (2) while between it and a concentric inner race (3) run bearing balls (1). Against the first bearing race section (4) bears a sleeve section (7) which circumferentially and axially surrounds the second race section (5). A spring component (10) pressing the two race section (4, 5) together acts between the sleeve section (7) and the second bearing race sections (5) in such a way that the balls (1) run with zero clearance. In order to improve the rigidity of such a radial ball bearing and especially the sleeve section (7), it is proposed that the two axial ends of the sleeve section (7) project axially beyond the balls (1).

  • Patent number: 5458541
Abstract: The invention relates to a tensioning system for a belt or chain drive. Tensioners are known in which there are plastic friction bushes to damp oscillations where the coefficient of friction is adversely affected by temperature effects. It is the purpose of the invention to provide a tensioning system in which the friction coating retains a virtually constant frictional torque throughout its useful life. To this end, according to the invention there is a basic component (2) in which against a base (5) in the shape of a circular disc bears a friction coating (18) on which is supported a friction disc (10) which is secured against rotation by means of a shaft (7), to the tensioner (9) producing the oscillating movement.

  • Patent number: 5439298
Abstract: A bearing (1) for the wheel suspension strut of a motor vehicle has an inner and an outer bearing ring (2, 3). The inner bearing ring (2) radially encloses a clearance ring (5) concentrically arranged in its bore (4). A bearing housing (8) made of deep-drawn sheet metal encloses the outer bearing ring (3).
