The inner bearing ring (2) radially encloses a clearance ring (5) concentrically arranged in its bore (4). A bearing housing (8) made of deep-drawn sheet metal encloses the outer bearing ring (3). In order to reduce the total mass of the bearing and to allow it to be easily linked to a neighboring part of the car body, the bearing housing (8) forms a single piece with a flange (9) that extends essentially transversely to the bearing axis (10). The flange has at least one bore and screw (12, 13) for securing the suspension strut bearing (1) to a neighboring part of the car body.

    Abstract: An eccentric bearing arrangement including counterweights used in the hydraulic pump of an anti-lock brake system. The invention is directed to an apparatus which provides an eccentric motion applied through an essentially non-rotating outer bearing and a counterweight to a designed eccentricity in order to diminish vibration caused by the eccentric element. Embodiments of the invention are for use in anti-skid brake system pumps that require a pulsating, eccentric load that is ultimately applied to a set of radially disposed hydraulic plungers. The apparatus of the present invention comprises an outer ring, an inner ring mounted on a drive shaft, and an outer roller bearing disposed in the raceway formed between the inner and outer rings. The raceway of the inner ring is eccentric to the drive shaft by an amount equal to one half the design stroke of the anti-lock brake system plungers. The outer ring is in direct contact with the hydraulic plunger faces.

    Abstract: A method of and apparatus for adjusting the preload of an anti-friction bearing is disclosed. A compressive load is applied to the opposite transverse faces of the outer races of a linear bearing by hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders. While the bearing assembly is held in compression, a test force is applied to one end of the inner race or slide in a direction parallel to its constrained direction of travel to cause the slide to move through the bearing at a steady rate of travel. While the slide is in motion, rolling friction characteristics are measured by a force gauge. The resulting force gauge measurement corresponds to a particular bearing preload.
