Abstract: A particle-containment shield is provided. The particles-containment shield includes a containment structure that defines an air inlet to receive air heated by a projection lamp from the outlet of the projection-lamp module and defines an air outlet to vent air heated by the projection lamp away from the projection lamp. The containment structure is sealed intermediate the air inlet and the air outlet such that air heated by the projection lamp that enters through the air inlet exits the containment structure through the air outlet. The containment structure defines a length, a width, and a height of the particle-containment shield. The particle-containment shield includes one or more deflection members is arranged in the containment structure to collectively block all straight line paths from the air inlet to the air outlet so as to inhibit projection lamp particles from exiting the air outlet upon projection lamp rupture.
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for a dual front/rear projection screen having a first exterior surface and a second exterior surface are disclosed herein. The second exterior surface may be shaped to facilitate transmission and reflection of a portion of light and enable viewing an image from both sides of the projection screen.
Abstract: A method of transmitting a plurality of frames of image data over a communications channel from a display image source to a display device is disclosed, wherein the plurality of frames of image data are transferred on a frame-by-frame basis at a predetermined time interval. The method includes encoding at least a portion of a selected frame of image data via hierarchical encoding to form a hierarchically encoded set of image data layers, and sending only a subset of the set of image data layers over the communications channel, wherein the subset of image data layers includes fewer image data layers than the set of image data layers.
Abstract: A projector lamp electronic test circuit is provided. The test circuit includes an electrical connector configured to be operatively coupled to a lamp of a projection unit under test, a converter configured to receive a test charge to be sent to the lamp from an alternating current power source, the converter configured to convert the test charge from alternating current to direct current, and an autotransformer operatively coupled to the converter, the autotransformer configured to regulate a voltage of the test charge, the voltage being suitably high enough to cause failure of the lamp.
Abstract: A projector device employing ballast with a flyback converter is disclosed. For example, one embodiment comprises a lamp driver circuit including a power stage circuit including a flyback converter to output a direct current signal to a bridge circuit, the bridge circuit to reconstruct the direct current signal to an alternating current signal, a control circuit coupled with the power stage circuit and the bridge circuit, the control circuit to receive the direct current signal from the power stage circuit and to provide a frequency control signal to the bridge circuit, and a lamp igniter circuit comprising at least one charge pump and being coupled with the bridge circuit, wherein in response to the frequency control signal being provided to the bridge circuit, the bridge circuit is configured to increase the voltage of the alternating current signal provided to the lamp igniter circuit to power the lamp igniter circuit.
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for a fold-mirror assembly with a dynamically adjustable mirror element for use in a projection device are disclosed herein.
Abstract: Systems for retaining a replaceable part within an image display device are provided herein. One example includes a first retaining member with a first looped retention arm configured to apply a retaining force in an x-direction to the replaceable part and a second retaining member with a second looped retention arm configured to apply a retaining force in a y-direction to the replaceable part. Upon displacement of the replaceable part from an engagement position to a displacement position, a normal force as applied by one of the first retaining member and the second retaining member is reduced and the force to push the replaceable part towards the engagement position is increased.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a collaborative meeting room system. In response to user input, an electronic device starts a meeting timer to begin timing a meeting at which a previously-created meeting agenda is used. The electronic device causes a projection device to project a running meeting timer, as a result of starting the meeting timer. An agenda item included in the previously-created meeting agenda is retrieved, as a result of starting the meeting timer. The electronic device causes the projection device to project meeting minutes for the agenda item, as a result of retrieving the agenda item.

Abstract: A projection system. The projection system includes a projector, a projector holder, and, optionally, a screen. When included, the screen has at least a deployed configuration in which a viewing portion of the screen is substantially planar. The projector includes a wide-angle lens system to selectively project display images onto the projection screen or other viewing surface. The projector holder supports the projector and is moveable relative to the projection screen or other viewing surface. The projector holder has at least an operating position at which the projector is supported for projection onto the projection screen or other viewing surface.
Abstract: A method An apparatus and system for producing a digital video signal from an analog video signal, the analog video signal including an analog video data signal that is raster scanned in lines across a CRT screen to form consecutive frames of video information, the raster scanning controlled by use of a horizontal synchronizing signal (Hsnyc) (Hsync) that controls a line scan rate, and a vertical synchronizing signal (Vsnyc) (Vsync) that controls a frame refresh rate, to produce consecutive frames of video information, wherein the digital signal is produced by generating a pixel clock signal with pixel clocks for repetitively sampling instantaneous values of the analog video data signal, and digitizing the analog video data signal based on the pixel clock sampling.
