Abstract: A novel method and instrumentation for insertion of humeral and glenoid total shoulder implant using arthroscopic visualization for bony preparation as well as insertion of components through small incisions. Mini instruments and cannulated guides and reamers are used in order to perform the procedure under direct arthroscopic visualization. For ease of insertion, the components are inserted separately and assembled in situ. Securing the humeral components in place is accomplished with bicortical screw transfixing the central peg of component.
Abstract: A surgical tool and method for separating a femoral cup or a femoral ball from an implanted femoral implant without disturbing the femoral implant. The tool is comprised of upper and lower lever arms which turn on an adjustable fulcrum. The upper lever arm has a distal end adapted to engage a femoral cup or a femoral ball and the distal end of the lower lever arm engages the implant. Proximal ends of the lever arms engage a drive assembly which is used to cause the distal ends to move away from one another thereby separating the femoral cup or ball from the femoral implant.

Abstract: An orthopedic splint system comprising self curing splinting system that is applied to an injured limb without use of water. The splint material is contained in tear resistant outer pouch and an inner protective sleeve where a water-laden gel is contained in a pouch situated in direct contact with the splint material. The liquid pouch will be torn when a longitudinal tab, which is an integral part of the pouch, is pulled out releasing the water-laden gel which will come in contact with the splint system causing it to cure.
Abstract: A surgical tool and method used to extract an acetabular cup from an acetabulum with minimal or no bone damage even if there has been significant bone ingrowth prior to the extraction process. The tool is designed for use with a reverse hip prosthesis wherein the acetabular cup comprises a stem extending from its concave surface and an acetabular ball is affixed to the stem. The tool is rotated on the ball and a blade is thereby caused to rotate adjacent or in close proximity to a convex surface of the cup in a position between the acetabular bone and the cup, thereby separating the cup from the bone.

Abstract: A bicondylar knee implants with improved fixation means for resurfacing only the weight-bearing surface of the femoral medial and lateral condyles, while preserving the cruciate ligaments and avoids displacing the patella. The inventive device includes metallic convex articular surfaces for resurfacing the medial and lateral femoral condyles, and concave multifacial non-articular surfaces to be affixed to the resected distal surfaces of the femur. The prosthesis provides claws situated at the anterior and posterior ends of the medial and lateral metallic condyles, which will firmly attach the implant against the resected femoral condyle. The prosthesis is designed to be implanted through a direct lateral approach and does not resurface the femoropatellar joint. Furthermore, a minirobot or electromechanical actuator is used to perform the femoral and tibial bone cuts using electromagnetic bone chipper.
Abstract: A double layered superimposed and parallel solar panels having an optical system comprising cylindrical rods and convex lenses at either end of said rods. Said optical rods are centrally longitudinally and transversely inserted in the upper panel through slits where sunlight rays pass and diffract through said rods and widely diffuse over the entire surface of the lower solar panel. A plurality of optical rods may be used thereby increasing the light transmission to the lower solar panel. The present invention significantly reduces the surface needed to install conventional residential as well as commercial solar panels.
Abstract: A surgical tool for extracting an acetabular ball from an acetabular cup in an implanted hip prosthesis wherein the acetabular ball is affixed by means of a Morse taper to a stem extending from bottom of the concave portion of the acetabular cup. The surgical tool enables a surgeon to remove the ball without pulling on the acetabular cup and without disrupting any bone in-growth because the tool maintains pressure on the cup while exerting an opposing pressure pulling on the ball.

Abstract: When an acetabular cup used in hip replacement surgery is to be affixed to the acetabulum using screws, the drill guide instruments of the invention are used to position a drill bit so that the screw holes drilled in the acetabulum are properly placed for optimum implantation of the acetabular cup. The drill guide is locked into the acetabular cup by spring loaded pins which position the guide over holes in the cup which accommodate the screws. The guide is used to position the drill bits and allow drilling. After drilling the guide is removed.
