Patents Assigned to INNOVEX DOWNHOLE SOLUTIONS, INC.
  • Patent number: 10227842
Abstract: A downhole tool includes an upper wedge member and a lower wedge member. The upper and lower wedge members each have a circumferential width that decreases proceeding from an outer axial end thereof to an inner axial end thereof. As the downhole tool actuates from a first state to a second state, the upper and lower wedge members move axially with respect to a central longitudinal axis through the downhole tool, the upper and lower wedge members move radially-outward with respect to the central longitudinal axis, and the upper and lower wedge members remain coupled to one another as the upper and lower wedge members move.

  • Patent number: 10214992
Abstract: A smooth bore toe valve includes a first sub defining a through bore and a fluid flow path through a wall thereof; a second sub; a housing mechanically engaged with the first and second subs to define a valve cavity axially between the first and second subs and to define a chamber radially between the first and second subs and the housing, the housing further defining a plurality of openings in a wall thereof; and a sleeve disposed within the chamber between the housing and the first and second subs to close the openings and, upon application of fluid pressure horn the through bore through the fluid flow path, open the openings to fluid flow from the valve cavity to the exterior of the housing. A method for using such a valve is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10208544
Abstract: A centralizer assembly and method for manufacturing a centralizer assembly. The centralizer assembly includes a mandrel including a first raised region having a first diameter, and a turned-down region having a second diameter, the second diameter being smaller than the first diameter. The centralizer assembly also includes a first stop segment extending at least partially around the mandrel in the turned-down region, and a centralizer disposed at least partially in the turned-down region. The first stop segment is received between axial extents of the centralizer, to limit a range of motion of the centralizer relative to the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 10184308
Abstract: A downhole tool and a method for operating the downhole tool, in which the downhole tool includes a first sensing member, and a second sensing member. The first and second sensing members have a first communication status when the downhole tool is in a first configuration. The first and second sensing members have a second communication status that is different from the first communication status when the downhole tool is in a second configuration. The downhole tool is prevented from actuating prior to the first and second sensing members having the second communication status, and the downhole tool is permitted to actuate after the first and second members have the second communication status.

  • Patent number: 10174590
Abstract: An actuator for a downhole tool includes first, second, and third sleeves. The first sleeve obstructs a first port in a body of the downhole tool when the first sleeve is in a first position. The third sleeve obstructs a second port in the body when the third sleeve is in a first position, and the second and third sleeves are in one-way engagement with one another. A biasing member is positioned between the first sleeve and the third sleeve. The first sleeve is configured to move from the first position and toward the third sleeve in response a pressure communicated through the first port. When the pressure is reduced after the first sleeve is moved toward the third sleeve, the biasing member forces the first sleeve back toward the first position, which causes the third sleeve to permit fluid communication through the second port.

  • Patent number: 10156119
Abstract: Downhole tools and methods, of which the downhole tool includes an expandable sleeve defining a bore therethrough, and a first body positioned at least partially within the bore of the expandable sleeve. The first body is slidable relative to the expandable sleeve, and sliding the first body along the bore of the expandable sleeve causes the expandable sleeve to radially expand so as to actuate the downhole tool from a run-in configuration to a set configuration. The downhole tool also includes an isolation device received at least partially in the expandable sleeve in the set configuration. A pressure on the isolation device is at least partially transmitted to the expandable sleeve as a radially-outward force.

  • Patent number: 10113373
Abstract: A composite material centralizer (60) for a tubular (50) is formed from a shell (10) of elongate shape with a curved upper surface (12) and a longitudinal slot (14) formed centrally in the curved upper surface (12) of the shell (10). At least one port (19) for injection of a bonding agent into the cavity (26) is provided in the curved upper (surface (12) of the shell (10). Fluid vent holes (17) are provided in the curved upper surface (12) of the shell (10) adjacent to either end of the longitudinal slot (14) in the curved upper surface (12) of shell (10). An elongate resilient member (30) with an outwardly projecting bow spring surface (33) may be retained within the longitudinal slot (14) in the shell (10) by insertion of ends (31, 32) in respective recesses (24, 24?).

  • Patent number: 9982496
Abstract: A method of forming a centralizer where a flat plate is created into a tubular where the flat plate is typically rolled so that two sides of the plate contact one another and are then linked, typically by welding. Openings are then created in the tubular such that there are no corners or other points that stress cracks may originate. Once the openings are created the remaining material between adjacent openings forms ribs. The openings created in the tubular are generally aligned with the long axis of the tubular. The material at the upper and lower end of the flat plate where openings were not created serve as circumferential collars. The ribs may be radially outwardly expanded in order to provide adequate stand-off. In many instances the ribs will also be hardened by heat treating or other hardening processes.
