  • Patent number: 9842278
Abstract: A method and an image analysis system including an orientation correction processor (OCP), a spatial sensor, and an analytics unit for detecting a target object from an image and validating the detection of the target object are provided. The OCP receives and processes image data from a series of image frames captured by an image sensor and spatial data from the spatial sensor. The OCP generates orientation data using the image data, the spatial data, timestamp data, and lens data of the image sensor. The OCP generates resultant image data by associating the generated orientation data with the received and processed image data simultaneously for each image frame. The analytics unit, in communication with the OCP, processes and analyzes the generated resultant image data with reference to an analytic dataset library to detect the target object from the image and validate the detection of the target object.

  • Patent number: 9793950
Abstract: A system and method to produce an electric network from estimated line impedance and physical line length among smart meter devices is provided using communication between the smart meters. The smart meters: (1) synchronize time using GPS pps signals, which provide an accurate time stamp; (2) send/receive an identifiable signal through the same phase of electric networks; (3) identify other smart meters on the same phase lines by listening to the information signal on the same phase lines; and (4) calculate time-of-arrival of an identifiable signal from other smart meters. The time of arrival information is used to calculate the line length, which is then used to calculate impedance of a line and topology of the electric network. The system then constructs an electric network by combining geo-spatial information and tree-like usual connection information.

  • Publication number: 20170235723
Abstract: In some embodiments, a non-transitory processor-readable medium stores code representing instructions that when executed cause a processor to select a narrative content template based at least in part on a predetermined content type associated with a real-world and/or virtual event. The code further represents instructions that when executed cause the processor to select a narrative tone type. The code further represents instructions that when executed cause the processor to, for each phrase included in an ordered set of phrases associated with the narrative content template, select, based at least in part on the narrative tone type, a phrase variation from a set of phrase variations associated with that phrase, and define, based on the selected phrase variation and at least one datum from a set of data, a narrative content portion associated with the real-world event. The code further represents instructions that when executed cause the processor to output, at a display, the narrative content portion.

  • Publication number: 20170136326
Abstract: A method and system for matching an athlete with a selected striking tool. The method includes, and the system facilitates, receiving test data resulting from the athlete hitting a test target with a test striking tool to launch the test target. The test data is mathematically transformed to calculate a test functional group score. The test functional group score is compared with a database to match the test functional group score with matched previous data having a similar functional group score to the test functional group score. A selection parameter of the selected striking tool is defined to correspond with a value of the selection parameter associated with a strong performance metric in the matched previous data.

  • Patent number: 9519635
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for narrative content generation using narrative frameworks by receiving a first phrase variation and a second phrase variation and displaying an error indication when the first phrase variation fails to satisfy a criterion relative to the second phrase variation. If there is an error indication, alternate phrase variations are received and compared against the first phrase variation until an alternate phrase variation is selected that has no error indication. Additionally, multiple sets of operators for updating one or more narrative phrases selected for inclusion in the narrative content framework may be utilized to update selected phrases after inclusion in the narrative framework but prior to finalizing the narrative content to be output.

  • Publication number: 20160304799
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for producing hydrocarbons from biomass. The method is particularly useful for producing substitute natural gas from forestry residues. Certain disclosed embodiments convert a biomass feedstock into a product hydrocarbon by fast pyrolysis. The resulting pyrolysis gas is converted to the product hydrocarbon and carbon dioxide in the presence of hydrogen and steam while simultaneously generating the required hydrogen by reaction with steam under prescribed conditions for self-sufficiency of hydrogen. Methane is a preferred hydrocarbon product. A system also is disclosed for cycling the catalyst between steam reforming, methanation and regeneration zones.

  • Publication number: 20160259832
Abstract: Multidimensional databases are well-suited for viewing data at different levels of detail. Graph databases are well-suited for modeling data sets with complex relationships. A novel platform for analysis and planning is enabled by linking multidimensional and graph databases. Graphs are data structures stored in graph databases. Graphs use nodes and edges to model data elements, some of which are derived. A graph is traversed to derive new data elements. To perform analysis on the graph data elements, graph traversal paths are stored as tuples in a fact table. This fact table is in turn loaded into the multidimensional database by mapping the fact table's attribute columns to dimensions of the multidimensional database.
