Abstract: Providing interaction to an application with a collection of information stored in a Document Object Model is disclosed. The collection is maintained in the Document Object Model. A virtualization layer provides one or more collection interfaces to the collection. An indication of an interaction of the application with the collection is received. The collection interfaces include a safety buffer and the interaction of the application with the safety buffer triggers a functionality of the virtualization layer.

Abstract: A system and process to adjust the transmission rate of data packets by measuring (continuously or at pre-set intervals) certain elements and variables to reliably measure the current transmission rate and gaps (wasted space) to determine the channel utilization. These measurements are used to adjust the transmission rate of data in real time. The measurement of these variables reliably predicts the optimum transmission rate and can adjust the same to both efficiently transmit data and avert network congestion. A communication processing device comprising one or more processors operable to measure inter-packet gap times to estimate and utilize channel capacity changes during transmission.

Abstract: A method of speeding up the delivery of a dynamic webpage is disclosed. A request for a webpage is received, the webpage including one or more dynamic components. A cached stub is sent in response to the request, wherein the cached stub includes components empirically determined as static components of the webpage, and wherein the cached stub includes a placeholder replacing at least a portion of a first dynamic component of the webpage. A script is injected in the cached stub that intercepts any access to the placeholder.

Abstract: A method of delivering webpages to a browser includes delivering a first webpage using a streaming protocol that optimizes delivery of content of the first webpage where the first webpage includes information that may persist in a browser cache; delivering a second webpage without using the streaming protocol where the second webpage and the first webpage both reference a first resource; and forcing revalidation of the first resource stored on the browser cache.

Abstract: A method of delivering content of a webpage to a web browser on a device communicating with a network through a proxy server includes embedding a first nested browsing context in a parent browsing context of the web browser where the parent browsing context is associated with a first domain and the first nested browsing context is associated with a second domain; sending a request for content from the first nested browsing context to the second domain through the proxy server; and receiving at the first nested browsing context the content from the second domain.

Abstract: A method of delivering animated images by an edge server to a web browser is disclosed. The method includes receiving a request for an image file. It includes detecting the image file as an animated image file. It includes generating two or more versions of the animated image file, including a first version of the animated image file having at least some frames at lower-resolution than corresponding frames in the animated image file, and including a second version of the animated image file having at least some frames at higher-resolution than corresponding frames in the first version of the animated image file. It includes sending the first version of the animated image file in response to the request for the image file and delaying delivery of the second version of the animated image file until a subsequent request for the second version of animated image file is received.

Abstract: A method of distributing content to an application from a server is disclosed. The method includes detecting in a file to be sent to the application from the server that the application is directed to request one or more resources to be downloaded to the application. A network latency associated with the downloading of the one or more resources is determined. A subset of the one or more resources is selectively packaged based at least in part on the network latency. The selectively packaged subset of the one or more resources is sent to the application.

Abstract: A method of updating a document object model (DOM) is disclosed. A message is received from a web browser requesting for information to update the DOM. A dummy response message is sent to the web browser, wherein the dummy response message does not include the information to update the DOM, and wherein the dummy response message causes the web browser to create a dummy node in the DOM. A request message is received from a client as part of a client-server protocol, wherein the request message requests at least a portion of the information to be sent to the client. A first response message is sent including at least a portion of the information to the client, wherein the first response message is processed by the client to determine a first update to the DOM, and wherein the first update is applied to the DOM.

Abstract: A method of delivering content to a device is disclosed. The method includes receiving a request by a proxy server, wherein the request is received by a local client and transferred by the local client to the proxy server, and wherein the request comprises a request for content available at a content server sent from an application to the content server. The method further includes parsing the content and identifying a task associated with the content by the proxy server. The method further includes delivering the content and information associated with the identified task from the proxy server to the local client, wherein the content is further delivered from the local client to the application.

Abstract: Producing a modified document object model structure is disclosed. A desired webpage is requested. An alternative webpage is received in response to the request instead of an original version of the desired webpage to be rendered. The alternative webpage is processed. Program code included in the alternative webpage is utilized to request the original version of the desired webpage. The original version of the desired webpage is received. The modified document object model structure different from an original document object model structure corresponding to the received original version of the desired webpage is produced.

Abstract: Processing a purge request is disclosed. The purge request is received. Based on the purge request, a purge instruction is generated for each content distribution node of a group of one or more content distribution nodes. Each content distribution node of the group is verified has either completed processing the purge instruction or is determined to be unavailable. Despite at least one content distribution node of the group determined to be unavailable having not completed processing the purge instruction, an indication is authorized that the purge request has been completed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus that improves the performance of a data network by segmenting the TCP path and implementing a proprietary protocol (DPR™) over a network. Bandwidth is reduced and reliability improved by using an erasure coded algorithm to generate a predicted number of redundant coded packets used to reconstruct lost data packets. Coded packets are generated at the transmission side and the coded packets together with the raw data packets successfully sent over the channel are used to reconstruct lost raw data packets. The DPR™ erasure coding to adjust for packet loss in real time protocol provides a multiplexed tunnel for a multiplicity of TCP sessions from a client to a cloud proxy. DPR™ implements congestion management, flow control, reliability, and link monitoring. Other network protocols (such as UDP) are supported with a reliability protocol based upon network coding that improves the transmission reliability.

Abstract: A method of caching resources corresponding to a webpage on a client is disclosed. A hierarchy of a plurality of storage mechanisms available on the client is determined based at least in part on performance of the plurality of storage mechanisms. The hierarchy comprises a plurality of levels to which each storage mechanism may be assigned. A request to cache a first resource corresponding to a webpage is received. One of the plurality of storage mechanisms for caching the first resource is selected based at least in part on the hierarchy. The first resource is stored in the selected storage mechanism of the hierarchy.

Abstract: A method of distributing content is disclosed. The method includes receiving by an edge server an indication indicating that a client has sent a request for a file that includes content related to executing an application. The method includes analyzing interaction with the client by the edge server to determine a first portion of the file that is likely to be required by the client for executing the application sooner than a second portion of the file. The method further includes generating by the edge server a modified file that includes the first portion of the file. The method further includes transmitting the modified file to the client.

Abstract: The performance of TCP (and other protocols) is improved in a data network by segmenting the TCP path and implementing a protocol over the network. The protocol provides a multiplexed tunnel for a multiplicity of TCP sessions from a client to a cloud proxy. The protocol implements congestion management, flow control, reliability, and link monitoring. Abstract: Updating cached data is disclosed. An indication that a web content has been updated is received. An updated version of the web content is received. A difference between the updated version of the web content and a previous version of the updated web content is determined. A request for the updated version of the web content is received from a client. The difference in place of the updated version of the web content is provided to the client. The client generates the updated version of the web content using the difference and the previous version of the updated web content cached by the client.

Abstract: A method of delivering images by an edge server to a web browser is disclosed. It includes receiving through an interface a request for an image file. It includes detecting by a processor the image file as a non-interlaced image file. It includes converting by the processor the detected non-interlaced image file to a corresponding interlaced image file. It includes sending a first segment of the corresponding interlaced image file in response to the request for the image file and delaying delivery of a second segment of the corresponding interlaced image file until a subsequent request for the second segment of the corresponding interlaced image file is received.

Abstract: A method of reprioritizing execution of a script is disclosed. At least a portion of the script is partitioned into a plurality of component functions. At least one of the plurality of component functions is encapsulated with a wrapper component function. The initial loading of at least one of the plurality of component functions is selectively disabled. A modified script including at least one wrapper component function is generated. In some embodiments, profiling of the plurality of component functions is performed by collecting usage information of the plurality of component functions. In some embodiments, the selective disabling of the initial loading of a component function is based at least in part on the collected usage information of the plurality of component functions.

Abstract: A method of updating a document object model (DOM) is disclosed. A request by a web browser for information to update the DOM is intercepted by intercepting an interaction with the DOM. The request is converted to a server request as part of a client-server protocol, requesting at least a portion of the information from a server. The server request is sent to the server. A first server response including at least a portion of the information from the server is received. The first server response is processed according to the client-server protocol to determine a first update to the DOM. The first update is applied to the DOM.

Abstract: A method of transmitting content from a server to a client executing an application is disclosed. A request from a client for a file that includes content related to executing an application is received. The request is responded to by transmitting a modified file that includes initial portions of the file that are sufficient to permit initial functioning of the application, wherein the modified file is formatted with at least one placeholder for remaining portions of the file. The application can begin to access the initial portions of the file by accessing the modified file. The application can access the remaining portions of the file using the at least one placeholder.
