  • Publication number: 20080285946
Abstract: A special instruction for not encoding a content is incorporated into access authorization data contained in the received signal, so that within a unified system for transmitting and receiving of encoded or non-encoded sound and/or picture contents, it is possible to meet the requirement of public broadcasting and “free-to-air” program providers for a non-encoded processing and/or display and/or storage of freely accessible contents for the end user. The instruction signalizes that the sound and/or picture contents, once received, must be available in the non-encoded form to the end user. The access authorization data remain added to the sound and/or picture contents, even in cases of a cascading, encoded retransmission, or remains logically linked thereto by suitable means, even if transmitted physically separate along with the picture and/or sound contents.

  • Patent number: 5991715
Abstract: A method of transmitting digitized block coded audio signals includes forming scale factors of the digitized audio signals. The n(k-1) differences are formed from k successively in-time scale factors for each frequency sub-band or for a group of spectral values of the audio signal. The n(k-1) differences are grouped into at least two value classes. New scale factors are selected for each of the n sub-bands or spectral value groups based on a sequence of n(k-1) value classes. Identifying information, including the control information indicating at which locations in the sequence of n(k-1) value classes the selected new scale factors are disposed, is associated with each sequence of n(k-1) value classes. The associated selected new scale factors are assigned to each sequence of the sampled signal values and to the identifying information associated with each sequence of sampled signal values.

  • Patent number: 5499271
Abstract: In order to permit and already occupied frequency spectrum to be utilized for the radio transmission of a data stream without interfering with the services already established there, a plurality of the RF carriers modulated with the data stream are either transmitted in the frequency gap between two adjacent frequency FM services at the same location or in the free frequency ranges at both sides of an FM service, while leaving out its rated frequency occupation. Compared to the level of the RF carrier of the adjacent frequency FM service or the FM service in the middle, the level of the plurality of RF carriers is selected to be sufficiently low in the sense of a signal to noise ratio that is sufficient for FM reception of the FM service or services. Moreover, the mentioned level is selected to be sufficiently high in the sense of noise immunity against locally remote FM services which fall into the frequency range or frequency gap intended for the transmission of the plurality of RF carriers.
