Abstract: The present disclosure proposes the method for optimizing the performance of data base/web-service backed applications by automatically prefetching query results. The proposed system and methods automatically insert prefetch instructions at the earliest possible points across procedure calls in application source code, in presence of conditional branching and loops. A data flow analysis technique called anticipable expressions analysis is extended, to analyze anticipability of queries. The benefit of prefetching is limited due to the presence of assignment statements and conditional branches that precede the query execution statement. Enhancements such as code motion, chaining and rewriting prefetch requests are devised to increase benefits of prefetching. These techniques perform equivalence preserving program and query transformations.
Abstract: A method is provided for producing electrodes of flow cell having high power density. A plurality of seeds are distributed on a surface of a conductive carbon material. The seeds are etched into nanoparticles to form carbon nanotube (CNT) electrodes. The present invention can be applied to vanadium redox flow cell with advantages of the CNT electrodes, such as conductivity, corrosion resistance, mechanical strength and specific and electrochemical surface area. Electrons are directly passed to the material through CNTs and then to an external electronic load for improving power density of flow cell, making a cell pack more compact and reducing energy consumption on charging and discharging without using noble metal material.

Abstract: A method of assessing heterogeneity in images is disclosed. 3D images of an object are acquired. The acquired images may be filtered and masked. Iterative decomposition is performed on the masked images to obtain image subdivisions that are relatively homogeneous. Comparative analysis, such as variogram analysis or correlogram analysis, is performed of the decomposed images to determine spatial relationships between regions of the images that are relatively homogeneous.
Abstract: Cantilever chemical vapor sensors that can be tailored to respond preferentially in frequency by controlling the location of deposition of an adsorbing layer. Cantilever chemical vapor sensor having a base, one or more legs and a tip are fabricated using a gold layer to promote deposition of a sorbing layer of a polymeric material in a desired location, and using a chromium layer to inhibit deposition of the sorbing layer in other locations. Sorbing layers having different glass temperatures Tg and their effects are described. The methods of making such cantilever chemical vapor sensors are described.
