Publication number: 20110119002Abstract: A method and a system for estimating use time of electric appliances are provided. In the present method, all time points corresponding to an appliance power on event or an appliance power off event are obtained according to a value-time curve of at least one electric characteristic. A characteristic value of each of the time points is calculated according to the value-time curve, so as to pair the time points corresponding to the appliance power off event with the time points corresponding to the appliance power on event appropriately. After the pairing process is accomplished, the use time of each of the electric appliances can be calculated by the paired time points and thereby the power consumption of the electric appliances can be figured out.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2009Publication date: May 19, 2011Applicant: INSTITUTE FOR INFORMATION INDUSTRYInventors: Hung-Ren Lai, Chi-Tai Cheng

Publication number: 20110114486Abstract: This invention provides a method and an apparatus for quickly continuously fractionating biomolecules, such as DNAs, proteins and carbohydrates by taking advantage of differential bidirectional transport of biomolecules with varying physico-chemical characteristics, for example size, charge, hydrophobicity, or combinations thereof, through periodic arrays of microfabricated nanofilters. The passage of biomolecules through the nanofilter is a function of both steric and electrostatic interactions between charged macromolecules and charged nanofilter walls, Continuous-flow separation through the devices of this invention are applicable for molecules varying in terms of any molecular properties (e.g., size, charge density or hydrophobicity) that can lead to differential transport across the nanofilters.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 13, 2011Publication date: May 19, 2011Applicant: MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGYInventors: Jongyoon Han, Jianping Fu

Publication number: 20110115638Abstract: A method for controlling a cleaning device is presented, which includes the following steps. A cleaning device includes a control unit, a fan module, an optical emitter, and an optical sensor. The optical emitter and the optical sensor are located in an air inlet of the fan module. The control unit is preset with a first impedance value (Z1), a second impedance value (Z2), and a threshold, where 0<Z1<Z2. Then, the control unit reads an impedance value (Z) of the fan module. If Z1<Z<Z2, the control unit drives the fan module. If Z2<Z, the control unit reads a detected value of the optical sensor. If the detected value exceeds the threshold, the control unit drives the fan module, so as to increase a suction force of the fan module. If the detected value is smaller than the threshold, the control unit turns off the fan module.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2009Publication date: May 19, 2011Applicant: INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH INSTITUTEInventors: Yu Liang Chung, Chun Hsien Liu, Chun Chieh Wang, Long Der Chen, Meng Chun Chen, Chun Sheng Wang

Publication number: 20110116506Abstract: Methods and systems for reroute and generation of backward routing information are provided. When an originator node wants to transmit a packet to a destination node and cannot transmit the packet to a next node recorded in a routing table, the originator node records a backward packet tag and information of the originator node into the packet, and transmits the edited packet to a backup node recorded in the routing table. The backup node retrieves a backward routing table in response to the backward packet tag to see whether a forwarding node corresponding to the originator node and the destination node is a backward routing terminal. If not, the backup node transmits the packet to the forwarding node. If so, the backup node removes the backward packet tag and the information of the originator node from the packet, and transmits the packet to the forwarding node.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 31, 2009Publication date: May 19, 2011Applicant: INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH INSTITUTEInventors: Hui-Kai SU, Ming-Ta Yang, Cheng-Shong Wu
