Abstract: The present invention provides liposome targeting compounds for targeting cells expressing sialic acid binding Ig-like lectin (Siglec). The liposome compounds typically comprise a binding moiety that is a glycan ligand of the Siglec on the target cell. The liposome compounds also incorporate or encapsulate a biological agent (e.g., an antigen or a therapeutic agent) that can be delivered to the target cell to modulate or kill the target cell. The invention also provides methods of using the liposome targeting compounds for targeted delivery of antigen and for modulating immune cells or immune responses.

Abstract: The present invention relates to catalysts and methods for efficient conversion of carbohydrates into 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), which shows good activity and high selectivity for HMF preparation from saccharides. The catalyst is stable in aqueous system which makes it as an ideal catalyst for HMF production. High HMF yield was obtained even in mild condition. The catalysts of the invention are advantageous in that they are environment-friendly, easy separation and recovery, can be re-used in subsequent reactions, do not corrode reaction reactors. These features make the catalyst as a suitable catalyst for HMF preparation and have strong industrial application significance.

Abstract: The present application provides a multilayer lateral mode coupling method for phased array construction and transducer devices built accordingly. This disclosure describes and demonstrates that the electrical impedance of a phased array can be substantially reduced and readily controlled to be close to the source impedance. The fabrication process is relatively simple and inexpensive. Abstract: A non-volatile reconfigurable logic device executing logical operations and a memory function and controlled by a magnetic field is provided. The reconfigurable logic device includes i) at least one semiconductor device; and ii) a pair of magnetic field controlled devices respectively spaced apart from both sides of the semiconductor device and that are adapted to generate magnetic field leakage to control the semiconductor device. The semiconductor device includes i) a first semiconductor layer; and ii) a second semiconductor layer located on the first semiconductor layer. One of the first semiconductor layer and the second semiconductor layer is a p-type semiconductor layer and the other is an n-type semiconductor layer.

Abstract: A system for communicating through a solid wall uses piezoelectric transducers in a multiple-input multiple-output configuration and applies crosstalk suppression. Methods of suppressing or avoiding crosstalk between parallel communication channels includes zero-forcing, eigenmode transmission, and least mean squared error processing. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing can be used to increase transmission rates using many subchannels. Bit-loading can be used to maximize system performance.
