Abstract: Disclosed herein are an apparatus and a method for warning of vehicle collision. The positioning and state-reporting signal of a present vehicle is sensed and that of a target vehicle received. The signals are respectively converted to velocities. The relative velocity of the vehicles and the relative position of the vehicles after a time interval are obtained. The driver of the present vehicle is warned when the normal distance from the present vehicle to the line indicating the direction of the relative velocity is determined to be at a minimum and not greater than a warning distance.

Abstract: Methods and devices for altering the power of a lens, such as an intraocular lens, are disclosed. In one method, the lens comprises a single polymer matrix containing crosslinkable pendant groups, wherein the polymer matrix increases in volume when crosslinked. The lens does not contain free monomer. Upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation, crosslinking causes the exposed portion of the lens to increase in volume, causing an increase in the refractive index. In another method, the lens comprises a polymer matrix containing photobleachable chromophores. Upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation, photobleaching causes a decrease in refractive index in the exposed portion without any change in lens thickness. These methods avoid the need to wait for diffusion to occur to change the lens shape and avoid the need for a second exposure to radiation to lock in the changes to the lens.

Abstract: There is provided a method of eliminating an offset in a spot centroid due to crosstalk. A crosstalk matrix is used to characterize crosstalk characteristics of a multi-pixel spot-centroid detector. Left-multiplication of signals outputted from the multi-pixel spot-centroid detector, which are affected by the crosstalk, by an inverse matrix of the crosstalk matrix can result in a light-intensity-distribution signal with impacts of the crosstalk substantially removed. Based on this light-intensity-distribution signal, it is possible to derive the spot centroid, with the offset in the spot centroid due to the crosstalk substantially eliminated, resulting in an improved accuracy of the spot centroid detection, as compared with conventional methods.

Abstract: Technologies are generally described for an enhanced Quantized Congestion Notification (QCN) congestion control approach, referred to as Fair QCN (FQCN) for enhancing fairness of multiple flows sharing link capacity in a high bandwidth, low latency data center network. QCN messages may be fed back to flow sources (e.g., servers) which send packets with a sending rate over their share of the bottleneck link capacity. By enabling the flow sources to regulate their data traffic based on the QCN messages from a congestion control component, the queue length at the bottleneck link may converge to an equilibrium queue length rapidly and TCP throughput performance may be enhanced substantially in a TCP incast circumstance.
