  • Patent number: 8857410
Abstract: Fuel management system for efficient operation of a spark ignition gasoline engine. Injectors inject an anti-knock agent such as ethanol directly into a cylinder of the engine. A fuel management microprocessor system controls injection of the anti-knock agent so as to control knock and minimize that amount of the anti-knock agent that is used in a drive cycle. It is preferred that the anti-knock agent is ethanol. The use of ethanol can be further minimized by injection in a non-uniform manner within a cylinder. The ethanol injection suppresses knock so that higher compression ratio and/or engine downsizing from increased turbocharging or supercharging can be used to increase the efficiency or the engine.

  • Patent number: 8861718
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a method of preventing fault-injection attacks on Chinese Remainder Theorem (CRT)-Rivest Shamir Adleman (RSA) cryptographic operations, and a recording medium for storing a program implementing the same. First, the method receives first and second primes, that is, different primes, and a randomly selected prime, that is, a random prime, which are used for CRT-RSA cryptographic operations. Thereafter, a cumulative value is calculated by performing an XOR (Exclusive OR) operation on the first prime, the second prime, and the random prime using a push function. Thereafter, the first prime, the second prime, and the random prime are loaded by performing an XOR operation on the cumulative value using a pop function corresponding to the push function. Finally, CRT-RSA operations are executed by computing modulo operations based on the first prime and the second prime.

  • Patent number: 8858331
Abstract: An exercise game system of the present invention includes a plurality of game clients and a game server. The game clients transmit over a network, exercise intensity information in which exercise intensities of the players performing various types of exercises are measured. The game server drives an exercise game by receiving exercise intensity information of the respective players from the game clients over the network, and by determining a motion of a game object to be displayed on a game screen based on exercise intensity information that is balanced according to a predetermined balancing rule about at least one element of exercise intensity, a change rate, and a duration time according to different types of exercises. In this instance, the game screen is represented to be capable of recognizing the motion of the game object that is affected by adjusting the intensity of exercise performed by the players.

  • Patent number: 8859378
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method for manufacturing a Fin Field-Effect Transistor. When a fin is formed, a dummy gate across the fin is formed on the fin, a spacer is formed on sidewalls of the dummy gate, and a cover layer is formed on the first dielectric layer and on the fin outside the dummy gate and the spacer; then, an self-aligned and elevated source/drain region is formed at both sides of the dummy gate by the spacer, wherein the upper surfaces of the gate and the source/drain region are in the same plane. The upper surfaces of the gate and the source/drain region are in the same plane, making alignment of the contact plug easier; and the gate and the source/drain region are separated by the spacer, thereby improving alignment accuracy, solving inaccurate alignment of the contact plug, and improving device AC performance.

  • Patent number: 8861539
Abstract: Multicast traffic is expected to increase in packet networks, and therefore in switches and routers, by including broadcast and multimedia-on-demand services. Combined input-crosspoint buffered (CICB) switches can provide high performance under uniform multicast traffic. However this is often at the expense of N2 crosspoint buffers. An output-based shared-memory crosspoint-buffered (O-SMCB) packet switch is used where the crosspoint buffers are shared by two outputs and use no speedup. An embodiment of the proposed switch provides high performance under admissible uniform and non-uniform multicast traffic models while using 50% of the memory used in CICB switches that has dedicated buffers. Furthermore, the O-SMCB switch provides higher throughput than an existing SMCB switch where the buffers are shared by inputs.

  • Patent number: 8862430
Abstract: There is provided a method for estimating a position of a mobile node in a wireless sensor network. The method includes estimating a frequency offset between anchor nodes and estimating a difference between times when ranging frames from a mobile node are received by two anchor node, without use of a separate synchronization unit, such as a network synchronized clock supply unit that supplies a network synchronized clock via a cable, in a wireless sensor network, unlike a conventional method of estimating Time of Flight (TOF) using Two-Way Ranging (TWR) and Symmetric Double Sided-TWR (SDS-TWR) schemes. The estimated receiving time difference is directly applied to a Time Difference Of Arrival (TDOA) algorithm in order to estimate the position of the mobile node.

  • Patent number: 8862454
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for simulating risk tolerance and associated adversary costs in a distributed business process are disclosed. The methods and apparatus simulate an interdependent business process, such as a financial transaction system, in a secure distributed manner. Each business entity that is part of the interdependent business process models itself on a local client device at any chosen level of detail. A simulation server connects the separate client based simulations into one large simulation. Details of each local simulation may be hidden from other simulation participants. However, interruptions in business flow caused by simulated disruptions introduced at the simulation server and/or a client device are propagated to all of the effected simulation participants via the simulation server. In addition, the simulation server receives inputs from users indicative of risk tolerance levels and associated response actions.
