Abstract: Disclosed are a type of catalyst which can catalyse the ring-addition reaction of CO2 and an alkylene oxide at 0˜180° C. under 0.1˜8.0 MPa to produce a corresponding cyclic carbonate, and the preparation thereof. The catalyst is a conjugated microporous macromolecule polymer complexed with cobalt, chromium, zinc, copper or aluminium, and by using the macromolecule catalysts complexed with different metals to catalyse the reaction of CO2 and alkylene oxide at normal temperature and normal pressure, a yield of the corresponding cyclic carbonate of 35%˜90% can be obtained. The catalyst is easy to recover and the re-use of the catalyst has no influence on the yield; additionally, the yield can reach over 90% by controlling the reaction conditions.

Abstract: The compositions and methods of the present invention relate to the co-delivery of a molecule and a polypeptide to cells to improve the therapeutic efficacy of the molecules. In one embodiment of the invention, the invention may improve delivery of growth factors by co-delivering these growth factors with their receptors and co-receptors, such as syndecans. Co-delivery of growth factors with syndecans, for example, may protect growth factors from proteolysis, enhance their activity, and target the growth factors to the cell surface to facilitate growth factor signaling. This novel approach to growth factor therapy could be extended to other systems and growth factors enabling the enhancement of multiple signaling pathways to achieve a desired therapeutic outcome.

Abstract: A tumor radiation probe of iodine-123 marker thymidine (FLT) analogue [123I]-IaraU is disclosed. Commercial available uridine is used as the raw material for the synthesis of the precursor. A radioactive iodine-123 is marked on an alkaline group of uridine to obtain [123I]-IaraU, which is distinguishable from [18F]-FLT marking 18F on a glycosyl group to obtain a novel tumor radiation probe. The marking procedures include mixing the marker precursor with Na [123I] solution, acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide solution, and the solution of chloroform and sodium hydroxide. The sonication time increases from 1 minute to 10 minutes, so that [123I]-IaraU has radiologically chemical purity of higher than 98% and radiological specific activity of not less than 0.196 GBq/umole, and the yield can increase from 8% to 40%. Its radioactive specific activity, yield and purity reach to the degree for the use in biological experiments, while reducing production cost.

Abstract: High-density microfluidic chips contain plumbing networks with thousands of micromechanical valves and hundreds of individually addressable chambers. These fluidic devices are analogous to electronic integrated circuits fabricated using large scale integration (LSI). A component of these networks is the fluidic multiplexor, which is a combinatorial array of binary valve patterns that exponentially increases the processing power of a network by allowing complex fluid manipulations with a minimal number of inputs. These integrated microfluidic networks can be used to construct a variety of highly complex microfluidic devices, for example the microfluidic analog of a comparator array, and a microfluidic memory storage device resembling electronic random access memories.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling the temperature of small volumes such as yoctoliter volumes, are described. The systems include one or more plasmonic nanostructures attached at or near a nanopore. Upon excitation of the plasmonic nanostructures, such as for example by exposure to laser light, the nanoparticles are rapidly heated thereby causing a change in the ionic conductance along the nanopore. The temperature change is determined from the ionic conductance. These temperature changes can be used to control rapid thermodynamic changes in molecular analytes as they interact with the nanopore.
