  • Patent number: 7229755
Abstract: We have now discovered that eukaryotes, including mammals, have a DNA mismatch repair pathway analogous to the pathway that exists in bacteria. Defects or alterations in this mismatch repair pathway in a mammal, such as a human, will result in the accumulation of unstable repeated DNA sequences. Such a phenotype has a high correlation to disease state in a number of cancers, such as hereditary colon cancers. Accordingly, discovering a defect or alteration in the pathway can be diagnostic of a predisposition to cancer, and prognostic for a particular cancer.

  • Publication number: 20070125412
Abstract: The present invention provides an electrically conductive paste for connecting thermoelectric materials, the paste comprising a specific powdery oxide and at least one powdery electrically conductive metal selected from the group consisting of gold, silver, platinum, and alloys containing at least one of these metals. By connecting a thermoelectric material to an electrically conductive substrate with the electrically conductive paste of the invention, a suitable electroconductivity is imparted to the connecting portion of the thermoelectric element. Further, the thermal expansion coefficient of the connecting portion can be made close to that of the thermoelectric material. Therefore, even when high-temperature power generation is repeated, separation at the connecting portion is prevented and a favorable thermoelectric performance can be maintained.

  • Publication number: 20070128845
Abstract: An interconnect structure of an integrated circuit and manufacturing method therefor are provided, relating to an interconnect structure of flexible packaging. The interconnect structure includes a first and a second conductive pads. A plurality of tiny and conductive first pillars is respectively formed on the first and second pads. With different densities and thicknesses of the first and second pillars, a contact strength can be generated when the pillars interconnecting with each other, such that the pillars are connected closely. Furthermore, the interconnect structure can also be used to connect with fibers made of conductive materials. Moreover, the higher the density of the pillars, the stronger the contact strength. And, electronic substrates and active or passive electronic elements can be stuck on the other side of each pad. Therefore, the interconnect structure can maintain flexibility and have high reliability without being enhanced by any thermosetting polymer.

  • Publication number: 20070128082
Abstract: The present invention provides a microflow coverage ratio control device, which comprises two reservoirs, at least one communication channel, a flow driver and two external tubes. The present invention utilizes liquid-level gravities of fluids in the two reservoirs to drive the fluids simultaneously flowing into a reaction chamber to form different fluid coverage ratios in the reaction chamber. The present invention employs the flow driver associated with the communication channel to change the liquid levels of the fluids in the two reservoirs, thereby changing the fluid coverage ratios in the reaction chamber. According to the potential energy conservation, the fluid pressure of the reaction chamber is kept constant during the change of the fluid coverage ratios. The interference of the reaction chamber is eliminated.

  • Publication number: 20070125415
Abstract: Crystalline silicon PV modules typically use tinned flat copper wire to increase the conductivity of a bus bar metallization and to interconnect to adjacent cells. Such a flat bus wire may be patterned with shallow v-shaped grooves using metal forming techniques, such as rolling, stamping and drawing. The grooves are designed so that incident light is reflected up toward the glass superstrate of the module at an internal interface angle that is large enough (typically greater than about 40°) so that the light undergoes total internal reflection at the glass-air interface and is reflected onto the solar cell. A photocurrent resulting from the normal impingement of light on a proto-type of such a patterned bus bar is at least 70% of the photocurrent resulting from the direct impingement on active cell area of the same light source. A typical face angle of about 60° may provide TIR for at least 50% of the light that strikes the bus wire as omni-directional illumination.
