Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel oligonucleotide primers having SEQ ID NO: 1, SEQ ID No: 2, SEQ ID NO: 3 and SEQ ID NO: 4 for amplification of the kinesin-related gene of Leishmania species. The invention also provides a method for detecting and differentiating visceral leishmaniasis (VL) and post kala-azar-dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL) causing strains of Leishmania donovani in a sample, comprising isolating DNA from a sample; amplifying the target region from the DNA using novel oligonucleotide primers and heat stable DNA polymerase to obtain amplified fragments; separating the amplified fragments and analyzing the fragments to detect and differentiate VL and PKDL causing strains of Leishmania donovani based on the banding pattern of the amplified fragments. In addition, the invention provides a diagnostic kit for detection and differentiation of VL and PKDL causing strains of the Leishmania donovani.

Abstract: A canted-fiber duplex optical subassembly is disclosed herein. The optical subassembly transmits and receives optical signals by way of a single optical fiber, which has a canted surface on one end. A light source sends transmission optical signals, which are refracted through the canted surface and then enter the optical fiber. Reception optical signals in the optical fiber are reflected by the canted surface and are then received by an optical detector.

Abstract: A data encoding method for error correction is provided. Before recording data into a recording media, the data are added with an Error Correction Code (ECC) comprising Check Sum on Row (CSR) and Check Sum on Column (CSC), thereby forming an ECC block. More than one ECC block are integrated into a data matrix, to resist longer burst errors of data. Finally, the data matrix is divided into several sectors and individual sector address information is added for each sector, thereby finishing the encoding process.

Abstract: Provided is a method of manufacturing an organic thin film transistor (OTFT). The method comprises forming all components in the OTFT including electrodes, an insulating layer, and an organic layer using laser printing. The laser printing allows formation of a fine pattern by selectively scattering toner only on a portion of a substrate irradiated by a laser beam while eliminating the need for a separate drying process by fixing the toner to the substrate using a fixing roller.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an ultrafine graphitic carbon fiber and a preparation method thereof. An ultrafine fiber having a diameter of 1 to 3000 nm is prepared by electrospinning a halogenated polymer solution containing a metal compound inducing graphitization. In carbonization, an ultrafine porous graphitic carbon fiber having a large specific surface area, micropores and macropores is prepared by the graphitization by a metal catalyst generated from the metal compound. The ultrafine carbon fiber can be used as a carbon material for storing hydrogen, an adsorbing material of biochemically noxious substances, an electrode material of a supercapacitor, a secondary cell and a fuel cell, and a catalyst carrier material.

Abstract: A codeword retransmission/decoding method and transmission/receiving apparatus uses feedback information. When a failure to decode data received from a receiving node occurs, the feedback information including success/failure information of the decoding and retransmission information are transmitted to a transmission node. The retransmission success probability may be increased when the retransmission feedback information is configured by the receiving apparatus repeating code-bits of the codeword just previously transmitted so as to demodulate the retransmission part.
