Abstract: Semiconductor packages with air core inductors (ACIs) having metal-density layer units of fractal geometry are described. In an example, an inductor structure includes a stack of metal loops. One or more input terminals is coupled to the stack of metal loops. One or more output terminals is coupled to the stack of metal loops. One or more metal-density layer units is disposed above and over the stack of metal loops. At least one of the metal-density layer units has a fractal geometry.
Abstract: An error recovery unit that may include error logic to detect an error in a dispatch port and timestamp logic configured to generate a timestamp for the error. The error recovery unit may also include check logic to determine if an instruction associated with the error has been retired based on the timestamp. If the instruction has been retired, a machine check error logic may be initiated. If the instruction has not been retired, an error correction logic may be initiated to recover the error and to re-execute the instruction. Thus, speculative errors may be recovered without the need for calling the machine check error, which is undesirable because of its catastrophic nature. Therefore, machine check errors may be significantly reduced.

Abstract: A mobile unit includes a handset and a removable storage module having a unique storage module identity, for storing information specific to a user, including an Internet Protocol (IP) address. Additional information regarding a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) and International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) which uniquely identifies the subscriber is also stored in the removable storage module. Upon successfully camping on a cell of a mobile network, the IP address is forwarded to an IP-based network capable of communicating with the mobile unit. In an alternate embodiment, the mobile unit has multi-network capabilities which allow it to communicate with an IP-based network and a cellular network at the same time. In another embodiment, existing cellular network services for the mobile unit having multi-network capabilities are routed through the IP-based network.
Abstract: Techniques and mechanisms for configuring logic to implement a signal modulation. In an embodiment, the logic includes a finite impulse response (FIR) module comprising circuitry. The selection circuitry may be operable to concurrently receive signals from latch circuitry of the FIR module and, based on the signals, to select an input group of the selection circuitry and to output a voltage identifier. In another embodiment, configuration logic is operable to set an operational mode which determines a total number of concurrent input signals, received by the FIR module, which the FIR module will use to select an input group for generating an output representing a voltage level.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes identifying a byte swap operation, building a domain including the byte swap operation and other expressions, identifying domain entries and domain exits associated with the domain, determining that a benefit will be obtained by performing a swap of the domain, and responsive to the determination performing the swap of the domain, and storing the swapped domain in a storage medium. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract: Method, apparatus, and systems employing novel delayed dictionary update schemes for dictionary-based high-bandwidth lossless compression. A pair of dictionaries having entries that are synchronized and encoded to support compression and decompression operations are implemented via logic at a compressor and decompressor. The compressor/decompressor logic operatives in a cooperative manner, including implementing the same dictionary update schemes, resulting in the data in the respective dictionaries being synchronized. The dictionaries are also configured with replaceable entries, and replacement policies are implemented based on matching bytes of data within sets of data being transferred over the link. Various schemes are disclosed for entry replacement, as well as a delayed dictionary update technique. The techniques support line-speed compression and decompression using parallel operations resulting in substantially no latency overhead.

Abstract: A land grid array (LGA) socket uses a series of inclined engagement features to transfer a lateral load into a normal load to retain the LGA package in the socket. The number and position of the engagement features along the side of the socket permits a more uniform transfer of load to the solder ball array as compared to current mechanisms.

Abstract: The subject matter of the present application relates to a heat dissipation device that is embedded within a microelectronic die. The heat dissipation device may be fabricated by forming at least one trench extending into the microelectronic die from a microelectronic die back surface, which opposes an active surface thereof, and filling the trenches with at least one layer of thermally conductive material. In one embodiment, the heat dissipation device may be a thermoelectric cooling device.
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention relate to a multi-function handheld user device that may have multiple selectable modes of operation for different areas of the user's life, each mode with its own database, applications, preferences, operational restrictions, and access limitations. Various mechanisms may be provided for switching between modes. Within each mode, context awareness and situational awareness may be used to obtain additional information or perform additional functions not directly requested by the user.
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for controlling interconnections between nodes using virtual nodes are described. A physical node—such as a router, bridge, switch, etc. —stores a virtual cost associated with a virtual link that links virtual nodes of the physical node. A first physical port and a second physical port of the physical node are designated as belonging to a first virtual node and a third physical port of the physical node is designated as belonging to the second virtual node. The first physical port is associated with a first network partition and the second physical port is associated with a second network partition. The physical node transmits a routing information packet that includes the virtual cost.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention includes a method for obtaining a pre-boot authentication (PBA) image from a non-volatile storage that is configured with full disk encryption (FDE), and storing the PBA image in a memory. Then a callback protocol can be performed between a loader executing on an engine of a chipset and an integrity checker of a third party that provided the PBA image to confirm integrity of the PBA image, the PBA image is executed if the integrity is confirmed, and otherwise it is deleted. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus relating to processing out of order transactions for mirrored subsystems. A first device (that is mirroring data from a second device) includes a cache to track out of order write operations prior to writing data from the write operations to memory. A register may be used to track the state of the cache in response to receipt of a special transaction, which may be a posted transaction or snapshot. The first devise transmits an acknowledgement of commitment of the data to memory once all cache entries, as recorded at a select point by the register, are emptied or otherwise invalidated. Devices may communicate via a peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe) interconnect, and may include a point-to-point or serial link. Various components may be on the same integrated circuit die. An uninterrupted power supply or batteries may supply power in response to a power failure.
