Abstract: Novel tools and techniques might provide for implementing broadband wireless distribution, and, in particular embodiments, to methods, systems, apparatus, and computer software for implementing distributed broadband wireless implementation in premises electrical devices. In various embodiments, a first wireless distribution device may be disposed within a premises (electrical) device. A first switching device of the first wireless distribution device might switchably supply power to the premises device via a power line, the supplied power enabling the premises device to perform its designed functionalities. Meanwhile, a first wireless transceiver of the first wireless distribution device (to which is supplied with constant power from a power source) might relay wireless communications between a service provider access point and a premises-based wireless network.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are described for auto-summarizing video and/or audio content. In some embodiments, a summary server might retrieve one or more time codes from a time code database, and might analyze the one or more time codes to determine at least one selected time code among the one or more time codes that exceeds a predetermined number of selections. The one or more time codes might correspond to one or more triggers, which might include user-inputted triggers, triggers associated with actions by a live audience, or broadcaster/distributor/producer-provided triggers (i.e., cue tones). The summary server might determine one or more selected segments of video or audio content corresponding to the at least one selected time code, and might create one or more summary tracks, where each of the one or more summary tracks might comprise each of the one or more selected segments of the video or audio content.

Abstract: A method and composition for reducing a coefficient of friction are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method for reducing a coefficient of friction between two surfaces in a borehole includes preparing a mixture comprising a primary lubricating agent, a primary surfactant, a spreading agent, and an aqueous fluid. The method also includes pumping the mixture into the borehole such that the mixture contacts the two surfaces and reduces the coefficient of friction for the two surfaces.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques might provide for implementing interconnection gateway and/or hub functionalities. In some embodiments, a network functions virtualization (“NFV”) interconnection gateway or hub (“NFVIG” or “NFVIH”) might receive a set of network interconnection information from each of one or more sets of NFV entities and/or one or more sets of NFV-based customer devices, each set being located within a network separate from the networks in which the other sets are located. The NFVIG or NFVIH might be located within one of these networks or within a separate external network. The NFVIG or NFVIH might abstract each set of network interconnection information, and might establish one or more links among the sets of NFV entities and/or the sets of NFV-based customer devices based on such abstraction. The NFVIG or NFVIH might provide access to one or more virtualized network functions (“VNFs”) via the one or more links.

Abstract: A balloon resection method is disclosed generally including inserting a catheter with at least one balloon having an outer wall with a resecting, non-slip surface for resecting unwanted biological material, such as tissues or tumors, and supplying fluid thereto in pulsed fashion to repeatedly deflate and inflate the balloon. In certain embodiments, a pump controls the pulsed supply of fluid based on an established frequency or change in volume. In some embodiments, the a keyed connector is used to identify the balloon type, and in some cases, intra-lumen diameters and densities are calculated. In some embodiments, the balloon portion of the catheter includes multiple balloon segments, which in some cases, are inflatable separately from one another.

Abstract: A method for establishing a call over a packet network may include receiving a call request on a packet network from an originating call device. Status one or more segments of a transmission path may be determined. If the status of the segments are within a first range, the call between the originating and terminating call device over the determined transmission path at a first data rate may be established. Otherwise, if the status of one or more segments is within a second range, a determination as to whether the originating trunk and terminating segment can operate at a second data rate may be made, and, if so, the call may be established over the transmission path between the originating call device and terminating call device at the second data rate.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques to enable more robust electronic program guides in television distribution systems. Some solutions can obtain data (e.g., from the Internet) about a program listed on an electronic program guide and integrate that data with electronic program guide. In some cases, this information can be obtained and/or updated dynamically, in real-time or near real-time, for example to provide, up-to-date information can be provided in the electronic program guide, rather than requiring the viewer to tune to an information channel. In some cases, the system can provide a generalized electronic program guide that can be rendered by the system to be displayed on a plurality of different devices.

Abstract: A balloon catheter for providing a 3-dimensional rendering of the interior of a cavity, the catheter system including a controller, a catheter connected to the controller and a balloon positioned on the catheter. The balloon includes a mesh having members extending longitudinally and circumferentially about the balloon where each member of the mesh has an electrical characteristic that changes as the member is deformed. The controller uses a measurement of the variable electrical characteristic to generate a three-dimensional rendering of an interior surface of the cavity, which can be rotating to different viewing angles.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed invention include a system and method for recording television content. For example, in one embodiment, a method performed by a digital video recorder is disclosed that includes communicating with a home gateway to determine whether a device connected to the home gateway has enough free storage space to store a television program in the event that the digital video recorder determines that an internal data storage unit associated with the digital video recorder has enough free storage space to store the television program. In one embodiment, the method routes the storage of a recording of the television program to the device via the home gateway in response to a determination that the device connected to the home gateway has enough free storage space on the data storage unit associated with the device to store the television content.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques might provide for implementing application, service, and/or content access control. Based at least in part on a consumer's choice of applications, services, content, and/or content providers—particular in exchange for a subsidy on content and/or network access fees provided to the consumer by chosen content providers—, a computing system may determine whether access to applications, services, and/or content not associated with the chosen content providers (“other content”) should be allowed or restricted. If restricted, the computing system might utilize various network access techniques and/or technologies to block the consumer's access to the other content, to allow access to the other content on a charge per access basis, or to allow access to the other content at reduced network access speeds. In some embodiments, an access provider (e.g., an Internet service provider, etc.) might perform both determination and implementation of content access and restriction.

Abstract: A system and method for distributing an alert to a set-top box. Media content is received for communication to one or more set-top boxes. Data is extracted from the media content. A determination is made whether the extracted data is associated with one or more alert profiles. The alert is generated in response to the extracted data being associated with the one or more alert profiles. The alert is distributed to one or more set-top boxes in response to generating the one or more alert profiles.

Abstract: A system and method for distributing content through a set-top box. A number of wireless devices are registered for a communications session with the set-top box. Media content is communicated to one or more displays. Interactive content associated with the media content is retrieved for each of the number of wireless devices in response to receiving requests from each of the number of wireless devices. The interactive content is distributed to each of the number of wireless devices in response to retrieving the interactive content for each of the number of wireless devices.

Abstract: A system and method for positioning a tool within a tubular segment or a tubular tool, wherein the interior surface of the tubular segment or tubular tool is provided with one or more pluralities of grooves, each defining a selected profile. A downhole tool is lowered into the tubular segment or tubular tool, having a blade in communication therewith. The blade includes a plurality of protruding members thereon, which define a profile complementary to one of the selected profiles formed by one of the pluralities of grooves. A biasing member biases the blade toward the interior surface of the tubular segment or tubular tool to engage the protruding members of the blade within the complementary profile of the tubular segment or the tubular tool. The system and method further include a slip and wedge assembly usable to position a tubular segment or tubular tool within a tubular member or wellbore.

Abstract: Different residences can be communicatively linked to a communication backbone via a multi-access gateway, where each residence comprises an adapter through which a set of IP devices directly connect to the multi-access gateway via IPSec compliant communication channels. The multi-access gateway can connect each of the IP devices to remotely located resources. Telecommunication services can be provided to the IP devices in the residences for fees. The multi-access gateway can controls specifics of the telecommunication services, which can include emergency (e.g., 911) services, home control services, and residential administration services. Any of the telecommunication services can be initiated, modified, or terminated by a carrier maintaining the multi-access gateway on a per residence basis for any of the different residences.

Abstract: An automated data center management system includes one or more equipment racks housing at least one server farm equipment, each of the at least one server farm equipment having a respective attachment point, a spare equipment repository having at least one replacement equipment, and a hardware management robot. The hardware management robot includes a robotic arm having an interface point, the interface point configured to couple to the attachment point. A hardware management controller is communicates with the hardware management robot, the hardware management controller including at least one processor, and non-transitory computer readable media having encoded thereon computer software comprising a set of instructions to receive a service request indicating a server farm equipment needing service, determine a location of the server farm equipment, generate a path to the location of the server farm equipment, and transmit the path to the hardware management robot.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques might provide for implementing interconnection gateway and/or hub functionalities between two or more network functions virtualization (“NFV”) entities that are located in different networks. In some embodiments, a NFV interconnection gateway (“NFVIG”) might receive a set of network interconnection information from each of two or more sets of NFV entities, each set of NFV entities being located within a network separate from the networks in which the other sets of NFV entities are located. The NFVIG might be located in one of these networks. The NFVIG might abstract each set of network interconnection information, and might establish one or more links between the two or more sets of NFV entities, based at least in part on the abstracted sets of network interconnection information. The NFVIG might provide access to one or more virtualized network functions (“VNFs”) via the one or more links.

Abstract: A system for visualization of eye anatomy includes at least one camera having a view vector along a first axis when in a first position, a housing to which the at least one camera is coupled, wherein the housing is configured to engage an eye of a patient such that the at least one camera is positioned adjacent the eye, and an actuator that moves the at least one camera from the first position to a second position, wherein the at least one camera, when in the second position, has a view vector along a second axis that is offset from the first axis.

Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include a multi-network gateway system providing one or more third-party telecommunications service providers access to a third-party network interface across an otherwise proprietary access network maintained by a primary telecommunications service provider. Specifically, one embodiment includes an access network provided by a primary telecommunications service provider in communication with a multi-network access gateway. One subset of telecommunications information conveyed across the access network is provided to a customer of the primary telecommunications service provider. Another subset of telecommunications information conveyed across the access network is provided to a third-party network interface and to a third-party network, for the use of the third-party telecommunications service provider.
