Abstract: The invention pertains to low profile additives (“LPA”) comprising branched polymers having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of at least about 20,000 grams/mole and a number average molecular weight (Mn) of at least about 3,000 grams/mole and methods for making the LPAs. The invention further concerns compositions comprising LPAs synthesized from one or more difunctional monomers and one or more branching agents. Also, disclosed are thermosettable resinous compositions and molded articles comprising the LPAs.

Abstract: An active-pulsed four-dimensional camera system that utilizes a precisely-controlled light source produces spatial information and human-viewed or computer-analyzed images. The acquisition of four-dimensional optical information is performed at a sufficient rate to provide accurate image and spatial information for in-motion applications where the camera is in motion and/or objects being imaged, detected and classified are in motion. Embodiments allow for the reduction or removal of image-blocking conditions like fog, snow, rain, sleet and dust from the processed images. Embodiments provide for operation in daytime or nighttime conditions and can be utilized for day or night full-motion video capture with features like shadow removal. Multi-angle image analysis is taught as a method for classifying and identifying objects and surface features based on their optical reflective characteristics.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques that can be used to detect network impairment, including but not limited to impairment of optical fiber networks. In an aspect, such tools and techniques can be deployed at relatively low cost, allowing pervasive deployment throughout a network. In another aspect, such tools and techniques can take advantage of a “dying gasp,” in which a network element detects a sudden drop in received optical (or electrical) power, resolution, etc. at short time scales and sends a notification across the network before the connection is completely compromised. In yet another aspect, some tools can include a supervisory function to analyze aspects of the dying gasp with the goal to determine network segments associated with an impairment and an estimate of the location of an impairment within the network.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques might provide for implementing combined broadband and wireless self-organizing network (“SON”) for provisioning of services. In some embodiments, a computing system might receive, from one or more first sensors and one or more second sensors, first operational states of fixed broadband network nodes and second operational states of wireless network nodes, respectively. The computing system might analyze the received first and second operational states, might determine an optimal network pathway and/or an optimal network backhaul pathway, and might establish the optimal network pathway and/or the optimal network backhaul pathway, through a determined combination of fixed and wireless network nodes, thereby implementing the combined broadband and wireless self-organizing network (“SON”) for provisioning of services.

Abstract: Novel tools and techniques for implementing Transparent PSTN Failover. In some embodiments, a VoIP switch might receive a call request for connection between a calling party at a calling telephone number (“TN”) and a called party at a called TN. Based on a determination that connection via a session border controller (“SBC”) between the VoIP switch and an Internet Protocol (“IP”) gateway has been lost, the VoIP switch might route the call request to a PSTN redirect TN through the PSTN. One of the Class 5 switch of the PSTN or the IP gateway might replace the redirect TN with the called TN, based on a determination that the redirect TN represents a PSTN failover. The IP gateway may then route the call request to an IP PBX for terminating (establishing) the call connection between calling party and called party, without interception by an operator, receptionist, or auto attendant.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed invention include a system and method for providing call gating. For example, in one embodiment, a femto cell is disclosed that includes a processing unit configured to execute instructions to perform operations comprising: enabling a call gating function associated with a cellular device in response to receiving an activation signal from the cellular device, monitoring for an incoming call to the cellular device in response to enabling the call gating function associated with the cellular device; identifying a caller ID associated with an incoming call in response to receiving an incoming call to the cellular device; determining whether the caller ID is on a list of allowed caller IDs associated with the cellular device; and routing the incoming call to the cellular device in response to a determination that the caller ID is on the list of allowed caller IDs associated with the cellular device.

An embodiment is disclosed that receives security information at a web portal and the security information has identification information for a user assigned to a set-top box, services a request to create a content notification preference for the set-top box at the web portal in response to successful entry of security information, determines media content received by the set-top box and the media content selected for display, determines the content notification preference associated with the set-top box, the content notification preference has a content notification rule to monitor media content received by the set-top box, and sends a content notification to a recipient based on the content notification preference.

Abstract: A system and method for positioning a tool within a wellbore, wherein the interior surface of a positioning apparatus includes one or more pluralities of grooves, each defining a selected profile. A tool is lowered into the positioning apparatus, having a blade in communication therewith. The blade includes a plurality of protruding members, which define a profile complementary to at least one of the selected profiles formed by one of the pluralities of positioning apparatus grooves. A biasing member, in communication with the blade, can continually bias the blade toward the interior surface of the positioning apparatus to cause the profile of the blade to engage within the corresponding complementary profile of the positioning apparatus. Positioning a tool in this manner is advantageous for locating cutting tools at a precise location to sever a joint, perforate casing or stack multiple tool operations at a fixed, targeted point within a wellbore.

Abstract: A system for conducting a voice call includes a set-top box operable to control the selection of a television channel for display on a television. The set-top box is also operable to initiate a voice call in response to a selection of a user-interface displayed on the television. The system also includes a wireless set in communication with the set-top box, the wireless set operable to establish a portion of the voice path for the voice call. Signaling for the voice call is initiated by the set-top box.

Abstract: An improved method of hierarchical output queueing of packets for a network scheduler of a network gateway that determines delays needed to conform to applicable rate shaping, and enqueues the packets based on the delay. Queues are associated with different classes of service (CoS), and within each class, each queue has a different scheduled time upon which it becomes available for dequeuing. A single set of CoS queues can support a large number of devices, improving the efficiency of software-based queuing by reducing the number of queues and simplifying queue polling.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer readable media for color management are described. In some implementations, the method can include accessing one or more buildup curves associated with a combination of a substrate, one or more colorants and a colorant dispenser. The method can also include accessing a design file specifying a design and including one or more layer files each specifying a layer color. The method can further include generating, for each layer color, a corresponding colorization recipe based on the one or more buildup curves. The method can also include creating a production job instruction/metadata file having a link to the design instruction/metadata file and including parameters associated with the colorant dispensing job to be carried out using the design instruction/metadata file.

Abstract: A system for blending polymers and other chemicals in an aqueous liquid is provided. Static mixers and tubes, preferably in one or more tube bundles, provide a volume sufficient to allow a residence time in the system to hydrate a polymer. Static mixers may be integrated with a tube bundle. The system may be mounted on a portable base such as a trailer. The concentration of polymer and chemicals in water may be controlled by a controller. A variable speed electric pump may be utilized to precisely control the amount of polymers or other chemicals added to the aqueous liquid.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for making e-Beam curable pressure sensitive adhesive compositions by derivatizing an acrylic polymer having one or more hydroxy groups or one or more acid groups with a derivatizing agent prepared from a hydroxy-functional acrylate monomer and a diisocyanate. The pressure sensitive adhesive can be effectively cured without a photoinitiator or reactive diluent. Also disclosed are e-Beam curable pressure sensitive adhesives made with the derivatizing agent and methods for adhering substrates with the pressure sensitive adhesive compositions.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for optimizing the distribution of a broadband wireless signal in a building. The methods and systems include at least one antenna inserted into a building ventilation system and transmitting a wireless broadband signal from a transmitter in communication with the antenna. The wireless broadband signal will include multiple orthogonal subcarriers. The methods and systems further include detecting the wireless broadband signal with a receiver in the building. In selected embodiments, the methods and systems may include the steps of analyzing a parameter of the detected wireless broadband signal and optimizing the wireless broadband signal based at least in part upon the analyzed parameter.
