Abstract: A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may be operated in a first scheduling mode for device-to-device communication. In the first scheduling mode, a network entity may schedule resources to be used by the WTRU for device-to-device communications. The WTRU may detect that a radio link failure (RLF) timer is running or has been started. The WTRU may switch from the first scheduling mode for Data device-to-device communication to a second scheduling mode for device-to-device communication in response to detecting that the radio link failure timer is running or has been started. In the second scheduling mode, the WTRU may select a resource from a resource pool for the WTRU to use for one or more device-to-device communications.

  • Publication number: 20170142700
Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receives a downlink subframe having multiple component carriers, each component carrier having control information encoded in a physical data control channel (PDCCH). The WTRU performs a blind decoding of control information in a first PDCCH located within a first component carrier to obtain a location of a second PDCCH located within a second component carrier, where the location of the second PDCCH is relative to a location of the first PDCCH as control channel element offset. The WTRU decodes the second PDCCH at the obtained location.

  • Patent number: 9655007
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed to communicate traffic flow information to a network. A user equipment (UE) may detect a traffic flow (e.g., using one or more of the traffic detection implementations described herein). A 5-tuple associated with the traffic flow may be unknown by the network. The UE may issue an alert to the network. The alert may indicate to the network that the traffic flow has been detected. The UE may determine the 5-tuple associated with the traffic flow. The UE may report the 5-tuple to the network. The report may be in response to one or more of: a request received from the network requesting traffic flow information; or, a determination that a first policy condition has been met.

  • Patent number: 9652320
Abstract: A wireless communications device may be configured to perform integrity checking and interrogation with a network entity to isolate a portion of a failed component on the wireless network device for remediation. Once an integrity failure is determined on a component of the device, the device may identify a functionality associated with the component and indicate the failed functionality to the network entity. Both the wireless network device and the network entity may identify the failed functionality and/or failed component using a component-to-functionality map. After receiving an indication of an integrity failure at the device, the network entity may determine that one or more additional iterations of integrity checking may be performed at the device to narrow the scope of the integrity failure on the failed component. Once the integrity failure is isolated, the network entity may remediate a portion of the failed component on the wireless communications device.

  • Patent number: 9655090
Abstract: Techniques and apparatus for efficiently determining the radio link control (RLC) protocol data unit (PDU) size and flexible RLC PDU creation for multi carrier operation are disclosed. An example wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) calculates a maximum amount of data allowed to be transmitted for a current transmission time interval (TTI) for each of a plurality of carriers, and selects an RLC PDU data field size such that each RLC PDU to be multiplexed to a medium access control (MAC) PDU matches a minimum of the maximum amount of data calculated for the carriers. The maximum amount of data may, for example, be calculated based on an applicable current grant for each carrier for the current TTI.

  • Patent number: 9654900
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities may implement service-based discovery in a network, such as a 3GPP or 3GPP2 network. A Discovery Server may be used to query and find services offered by the network or by entities that interface with the network. Situational context information or policy information, or both, may be communicated to the discovery server so that the Discovery Server can provide context-aware and policy-based discovery services. The Discovery Server may be used to control which of the entities that interface with the network can discover one another. The Discovery Server may support queries based on, for example, the type of MTC entity, the type of services hosted on the entity, the availability times of the entity, types of protocols supported, levels of Quality of Service (QoS) supported, and MTC-IWF services.

  • Patent number: 9654994
Abstract: Channel quality may be measured in a device-to-device (D2D) communication network. The D2D communication network may include one or more D2D wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs), wherein the D2D WTRUs may communicate using a D2D bandwidth. A D2D WTRU may receive a channel measurement resource configuration corresponding to a channel measurement resource. The D2D WTRU may further receive an RS on the channel measurement resource. The D2D WTRU may measure one or more channel state parameters from the channel measurement resource for a part of bandwidth overlapping with a D2D communication bandwidth, when the RS bandwidth is greater than the D2D communication bandwidth. The D2D WTRU may report the channel state parameters to a controlling entity. The controlling entity may configure a D2D frequency allocation between a transmitting device and a receiving device. The D2D frequency allocation may be based on the time averaged measurement.

  • Publication number: 20170135135
Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may detect cell congestion by selecting a preamble type as a function of priority level, transmitting the preamble to a serving cell, receiving a random access response (RAR) from the serving cell, determining a congestion state of the serving cell as a function of the received RAR, and/or responding to the congestion state of the serving cell. RACH functionality may be improved by allocating one or more sets of Physical RACH (PRACH) resources to a WTRU. The WTRU may configure the additional PRACH resources based on the allocation. A WTRU may determine a second set of PRACH resources based at least in part on a first set of PRACH resources. A WTRU may determine additional sets of PRACH preambles and may utilize modified PRACH preambles and/or modified PRACH preamble formats. The WTRU may signal additional PRACH resources.

  • Publication number: 20170127310
Abstract: A method for MU MIMO channel sounding by a STA includes receiving, from an AP, sounding information including an indication of a first STA of a group of STAs to transmit feedback and training symbols. The method further includes receiving, from the AP, a frame addressed to the group of STAs, wherein the frame includes a PHY preamble including group identification information identifying the group of STAs. The group identification information enables another STA not in the group of STAs, that receives the frame, to set its network allocation vector (NAV) timer based on a duration field in the frame. On a condition the STA is a first STA in the order of the group of STAs, a first sounding response frame may be transmitted to the AP, wherein the first sounding response frame includes quantized sounding feedback determined from the received training symbols.

  • Publication number: 20170126363
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for identifying different types of reception failures of a packet. A station (STA) may receive a packet from a transmitting STA and determine whether it is properly received by performing at least one check of a plurality of checks. The STA may determine that reception of the packet was not properly received due to a reception failure based on the at least one check and may generate a negative acknowledgement signal (NACK) signal including an indication of the reception failure cause to enable the transmitting STA to remediate the reception failure cause. The least one check includes determining whether a frame check sequence (FCS) passes, whether a CSMA wireless medium remains busy immediately after an expected packet transmission time, whether there is a power spike during reception of the signal, or whether there are Short training field (STF) and Long Training Field (LTF) correlations.

  • Publication number: 20170118702
Abstract: A method and apparatus for supporting home Node B (HNB) services are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receives HNB access restriction information from an HNB and accesses the HNB if an access to the HNB is allowed based on the HNB access restriction information. The HNB access restriction information may be a closed subscriber group identity (CSG ID), a status bit indicating whether an HNB cell is available or not, an identity of WTRUs that are allowed to access the HNB, information indicating whether an access to a cell is barred or not. The WTRU may trigger measurements for cell reselection even though signal strength on a currently connected cell is above a threshold. The measurement may be triggered manually, periodically, under the instruction from the network, or based on a neighbor cell list including information about HNB cells located nearby.
