Publication number: 20140177593Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling an optimization of handover procedures between universal terrestrial radio access (UTRA) release 6 (R6) cells and UTRA release 7 (R7) cells are disclosed. When a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is moving between an R6 cell and an R7 cell, or between R7 cells, a handover is initiated from a source Node-B to a target Node-B. In the R7 cell, the enhanced medium access control (MAC) functionality including flexible radio link control (RLC) protocol data unit (PDU) size and high speed MAC (MAC-hs) segmentation and multiplexing of different priority queues are supported. After the handover, a MAC layer and/or an RLC layer are reconfigured or reset based on functionality supported by the target Node-B.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2014Publication date: June 26, 2014Applicant: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Stephen E. Publication number: 20140177565Abstract: A method and apparatus for uplink transmission over a non-contentious shared feedback channel are disclosed, wherein the parameters of the uplink transmission are determined by the parameters of a downlink transmission. A new uplink channel, called a physical shared uplink feedback channel (PSUFCH) is used for uplink transmission such as feedback information in response to a downlink transmission on a fast shared data channel. The content of the feedback information may be general, e.g. an ACK/NACK or a channel quality indicator (CQI). The PSUFCH is transmitted using power ramping that terminates upon reception of a downlink ACK (DLACK) from a Node-B. No ambiguity resolution is required due to the non-contentious and deterministic mapping of the uplink channel resources.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 25, 2014Publication date: June 26, 2014Applicant: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Eldad M. Publication number: 20140169306Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for confirming the delivery of a data packet in a mesh network by sending an acknowledgement (ACK) to an ingress mesh point (IMP). A mesh network comprises a plurality of mesh points that are wirelessly linked together. A data packet sent by a station (STA) is received by an IMP. A MAC frame is generated for transmission of the data packet and the frame is forwarded to an egress mesh point (EMP) in order to provide a service by the mesh network. The MAC frame includes a field comprising an IMP address and an EMP address. When the EMP, (or optionally an intermediate mesh point), receives a data packet successfully, the EMP or the intermediate mesh point sends an ACK to the IMP or preceding mesh point.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 21, 2014Publication date: June 19, 2014Applicant: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Catherine Livet, Guang Lu, Juan Carlos Zuniga

Patent number: 8750312Abstract: A method for multicasting a packet begins by providing a buffer for each of two user equipments (UEs) in communication with a base station. A determination is made whether there is a previously unsent packet at the base station. A second determination is made whether both UE buffers are non-empty. A non-empty buffer is flushed if there is no previously unsent packet and if one of the buffers is non-empty. A packet is selected to be transmitted if there is a previously unsent packet or if both buffers are non-empty. The buffers are updated based on feedback received from the UEs.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2011Date of Patent: June 10, 2014Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Chunxuan Ye, Alexander Reznik, Yogendra C. Patent number: 8750321Abstract: A method and system for conveying backhaul link information for intelligent selection of a mesh access point (MAP) in a mesh network are disclosed. The mesh network includes a plurality of MAPs. The MAPs send backhaul link information regarding backhaul connections between each MAP and any interconnections in the mesh network to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The WTRU then determines a performance value with respect to the MAPs based on the backhaul link information and selects one of the MAPs to associate with based on the performance value. The WTRU may send information about interconnection needs of the WTRU to the MAPs, and the MAPs may generate the backhaul link information based on the interconnection needs of the WTRU.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2011Date of Patent: June 10, 2014Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventor: Vincent Roy

Patent number: 8743710Abstract: In a wireless communication system including a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) which transfers data to a Node-B, data transmission parameters such as modulation and coding scheme (MCS) and transport block set (TBS) size are dynamically adjusted on a transmission time interval (TTI) basis, and hybrid-automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) processes used to control the transfer of data between the WTRU and the Node-B are initiated and released, as required. The WTRU transmits and retransmits data to the Node-B through an enhanced uplink (EU) dedicated channel (E-DCH) in accordance with data feedback information received from the Node-B. The WTRU queues data for transmission, and determines a transmission status of the data. The transmission status is set to one of “new transmission,” “successful transmission,” “retransmission” and “restarted transmission.” For each TTI, the WTRU initiates an EU transmission to the Node-B which identifies the assigned H-ARQ process, TBS size and MCS.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2009Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventor: Stephen E. Publication number: 20140148180Abstract: A method for admission control of control plane signaling requests includes receiving a signaling request. Upon receipt of the signaling connection request, a first determination is performed to determine whether to provide admission to common resources. When the first determination is negative, a second determination is performed to determine whether to provide admission to dedicated resources. When the second determination is negative, the signaling request is rejected. When the second determination is positive, the request is admitted to dedicated resources. When the first determination is positive, a third determination is performed to determine whether the quality of the signaling request is high or low. If the quality of the request is high, the signaling request is admitted to common resources. When the quality is low, a fourth determination is performed to determine whether to provide admission to dedicated resources.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 18, 2013Publication date: May 29, 2014Applicant: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventor: Christopher R. Patent number: 8737920Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing radio resources in one or more wireless communication networks. At least one radio resource manager (RRM) is provided within a network node, or as an independent entity. The RRM monitors performance on wireless communication links of the network(s) and interacts with nodes associated with those links to change the configuration on a particular wireless communication link if its performance (i.e., quality) falls below an established threshold. Information regarding current resource usage of the network is sent to the RRM by the nodes. Each of the nodes may send a quality report to the RRM including wireless communication link quality measurements and performance statistics. Alternatively, the RRM may perform the wireless communication link quality measurements. The RRM facilitates the broadcasting of information regarding current resource usage of one network to other networks to avoid collisions and interference.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2005Date of Patent: May 27, 2014Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Juan Carlos Zuniga, Marian Rudolf, Shamim Akbar Rahman
