  • Patent number: 5901501
Abstract: A fastener for use with a sliding sash window. The fastener has a body (11) with a handle (14) mounted with the body for pivotal movement about a pivot axle (17). A latch tongue (18) is operatively coupled to the handle (14). A latch plate (21) has a latching surface (23) which is engageable in face to face contact with the end of the latch tongue (18). The latching surface (23) is spaced from the pivot axle (17) in the direction in which a sash (S) of a window is movable from a closed position relative to the frame (F) of the window. The handle (14) is movable about the pivot axle (17) to move the end of the latch tongue (18) away from its latching contact with the latching surface (23) of latch plate (21) to permit the window sash (S) to move from the closed position.

  • Patent number: 5853298
Abstract: An airbag igniter plug including a plug housing, a removable cover latched onto the housing, and a secondary locking clip having locking arms which are inserted into grooves in the cover and which are slidable from a rear unlocking position to a front locking position. A resilient finger on the locking clip cooperates with a ramp on the cover to retain the locking clip in its unlocking or locking position. When the locking clip is moved into its locking position, its locking arms bias the locking arms at the front of the plug body outwardly so as to engage their locking catches and prevent unmating of the plug from its mating socket.

  • Patent number: 5829199
Abstract: A mechanism for angularly moving a closure element to and from open and closed positions. The mechanism includes a housing which incorporates a guide in which is slidingly located an elongate multi-link connector. One end of the connector is extendible from the housing and is able to be coupled to the closure element by a coupling. A handle mounted with the cover of the housing can be rotated to move the connector relative to the guide. The connector is formed from a plurality of links maintained in an interfitting relationship by an elongate flexible joining element extending therethrough. The connection includes a plurality of drive dogs for engagement with the tooth gear coupled to the handle so that drive from the handle can be imparted to the connector.

  • Patent number: 5826873
Abstract: The invention provides a three-dimensional puzzle consisting of a plurality of interlocking components. Each component has at least one engagement surface with which it engages with one or more other components. The puzzle includes at least three components in which the first and second components engage and the third component engages both first and second components and prevents their disengagement from each other whilst engaged with the third component. Further, there is provided a device for hot wire cutting of thermoplastic material comprising an electrically conductive wire, an arrangement for driving the wire between two points, and a voltage arrangement for applying a potential difference to the wire between the two points.

  • Patent number: 5804026
Abstract: For producing identity cards, access cards, identification cards, or the like, containing electronic and/or electric components, including such with outwardly directed contacts, it is proposed that at least one central layer of the card, containing also the electronic and/or electric components or consisting thereof, be initially retained in floating condition by adhesive quantities applied as floating mass at least on one inner face, and be then progressively compressed to a thickness that is predetermined by stops, without any application of heat, and be finally cured so that the electric and/or electronic components are supported in the finished card, embedded in the intermediate adhesive layer so formed.

  • Patent number: 5800220
Abstract: A tab receptacle terminal fabricated by bending a single sheet of electrically conductive material. The receptacle terminal includes a receptacle box having at one end an opening through which a male terminal can be inserted. A spring is formed in the top of the box so as to extend substantially across the length of the top between the ends of the box. The spring projects interiorly of the box toward its bottom for engagement with an inserted male terminal. Portions of the spring define a leading surface and a trailing surface with the leading surface defining an angle with respect to the top which is greater than an angle defined between the top and the trailing surface. A pair of closed slots extending lengthwise along the top adjacent the juncture of the top with the sides to define the spring.

  • Patent number: 5791805
Abstract: A locking device for a pair of telescoping tubular poles. An engagement member fits to one end of first pole and is slidingly engaged within second pole. A groove of the engagement member engages with a rib in the second pole so the first pole cannot rotate relative to the second pole. First pole also slidingly engages through a clamp which is mounted to the end of the second pole. A cover fits over the clamp. A cam located between the inside wall over engages with a clamping element of the clamp. A lever extends from cam through an opening in the cover. By manipulating the lever the cam can cause the clamping element to clampingly lock the first pole against sliding movement in the second pole.

  • Patent number: 5634829
Abstract: A low insertion force electrical contact terminal assembly in which the female terminal has multiple cantilevered arms which engage and retain the male terminal therein. The multiple cantilevered arms resist withdrawal of the male terminal along the mating axis but will readily permit withdrawal during an off-axis disengagement of the terminals.

  • Patent number: 5509177
Abstract: A window stay of a geometry whereby, in the closed position of the stay, the pivot coupling the long arm to the sash plate is situated between the pivots respectively coupling the frame and sash plates to the short arm. The short arm is provided with a fold located between the pivot points thereof and extends substantially diagonally relative to an imaginary line between the pivot points. The pivot coupling the short arm to the frame plate is offset to the other pivots when the stay is closed by the frame plate forms an angle with respect to the length of the frame member to which the frame plate is, in use, attached.

  • Patent number: 5491873
Abstract: A hinge for mounting a door or like closure within a frame. The hinge comprises a first leaf pivotally coupled to a second leaf. The first leaf has a locating lug which interfits with a recess of the second leaf when the first and second leaves are at a predetermined angular disposition one to the other. This prevents a door mounted by the hinge from being removed from the frame even if the pin which pivotally couples the leaves together is forcibly removed. The first and second leaves are preferably coupled together by a coupling whereby the position of the second leaf relative to the axis of pivotal coupling can be selectively adjusted.

  • Patent number: 5450654
Abstract: For the mounting of a window sash in a frame, a window stay comprises a frame mounting component and a sash mounting component one or both of which are of die cast construction. A short arm and long arm are pivotally coupled by pivots to the frame and sash mounting components. A head lock of a head locking mechanism is carried by sash mounting component and is laterally offset to the length of the sash mounting component. The head lock engages with a head stop, which projects from the frame mounting plate, via engagement surfaces when the stay is moved to a position which corresponds to the closed position of a window.

  • Patent number: 5399223
Abstract: For laminating layers consisting at least in part of thermoplastic films, in particular for producing identification cards, or the like, carrying information and/or data, a method is proposed where the blank, after having been introduced between pressing dies, is initially subjected to the pressure and heat required for complete lamination of the blank. Heat dissipation is prevented during heating by the fact that cooling components are kept at a predetermined distance from the heating surfaces. During a subsequent transition from heating to cooling, the heating effect is terminated and cooling bodies are brought into contact with the pressing and heating components, for reducing the temperature of the completely laminated product.
