Patents Assigned to Interlock
  • Patent number: 5391097
Abstract: A terminal assembly having a male member and a female member. The male and female members are formed with cooperating surfaces such that a greater force is required to disengage the members from one another than to engage them together.

  • Patent number: 5330109
Abstract: A motor-driven drive shaft is coupled to a grinding mill or other unbalanced rotatable member through a clutch arranged to accommodate misalignment, the clutch being so controlled during start-up as to be initially engaged to effect a first limited rotation of the mill in the drive direction, then disengaged to permit the mill to rotate under its own weight through a second rotation in the direction reverse to the drive direction and through a third rotation in the drive direction, and then to be re-engaged during the second rotation of the member in the drive direction. Clutch orbiting is thus reduced if not eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5325949
Abstract: A clutch or brake unit is described with an automatic wear adjustment mechanism.Clutches and brakes operate by the engagement of friction members (4,6) which experience wear in use requiring a larger stroke of the unit to effect engagement. This results in delayed clutch or brake operation which can be a serious disadvantage where prompt action is required. Conventionally this wear has been compensated by replacement of the worn friction members or by manual adjustment of them resulting in temporary disablement of the unit and requiring service personnel time.In the inventive unit, friction members (4,6) are mounted between pressure members (10,2) and an actuator (12) operates against a backing member (15) to effect clutch or brake actuation and de-activation by movement of the friction members towards and away from each other, and the position of at least one of the pressure members is adjusted automatically in response to wear of the friction members.

  • Patent number: 5289908
Abstract: A cutting or bending machine has a combined clutch and brake mechanism cooled by air flow from an electrically powered impeller. A guide duct directs the air flow substantially uniformly through the entire volume of the combined clutch and brake mechanism, preferably to the outer peripheral edges of the mechanism, so that generated heat is dissipated continuously and the machine can be operated more productively. The impeller fan and the guide duct may direct the air flow either axially or radially of the mechanism and the air flow may be either inwardly or outwardly of the mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5257944
Abstract: An assembly assuring proper engagement or mated electrical connectors. The assembly includes a pair of connectors which are configured for creating electrical contact between terminals housed therein. A connector position assurance member is retainingly engaged with one of the connectors in a preassembled position. If the connectors are properly engaged, the CPA member is capable of being moved from its preassembled position to a second or home position. If the connectors are improperly engaged, movement of the CPA member from its preassembled position to its home position is prohibited thereby positively indicating that an improper engagement between the connectors exists.

  • Patent number: 5217382
Abstract: A two-piece electrical receptacle terminal for receiving a male terminal. The receptacle terminal includes a spring, having a predetermined shape, which is confined within an integrally formed housing. During insertion of the male terminal into the housing, the spring is deflected from the predetermined shape. The spring is constructed of a metal which exhibits a memory, evoked by heating, predisposing the deflected spring into its predetermined shape. Heating can be accomplished by ohmic self-heating.

  • Patent number: 5210908
Abstract: The window stay comprises a frame mounting plate, a sash mounting plate, a first arm and a second arm. The arms are pivotally coupled between the frame and sash mounting plates via pivots. The first arm is shorter than the second arm. The stay further includes a third arm which is pivotally coupled to the sash mounting plate at a pivot located to the side of pivot coupling which is opposite to pivot coupling of the first arm to the sash mounting plate. This third arm is pivotally coupled to a fourth arm with the fourth arm being pivotally coupled to the frame mounting plate. The first, second and fourth arms include structures which engage with stops associated with the frame and sash mounting plates when the stay is in the fully open position.

  • Patent number: 5090754
Abstract: A restrictor device for restricting the extent of movement of a closure movably mounted with a frame. The restrictor device includes in combination an arm adapted for pivotal coupling to one of the closure member or frame and a latching member adapted for mounting with the other of the frame or closure member. The arm and latching members have cooperating elements which pivotally couple the arm with the latching member yet permits uncoupling of the arm from the latching member when the closure member is in a substantially predetermined position relative to the frame. The latching member includes a latch mechanism which prevents uncoupling of the arm when the closure is in the substantially predetermined position. There are operating mechanisms to enable the latch mechanisms to be operated such as to allow uncoupling of the arm to take place.

  • Patent number: 5009615
Abstract: An electrical terminal assembly having fixed and flexible tab receptacle terminal retainers. Each inserted receptacle terminal is retained by means of a movable finger formed in one side wall of the receptacle connector cavity and a fixed retaining shoulder in the opposite internal side wall of the connector cavity, both shoulders engaging the inserted female receptacle terminal. The receptacle terminal is removed by resiliently deflecting the movable finger to disengage the retaining shoulder thereon from the receptacle terminal thereby allowing withdrawal of the receptacle terminal.

  • Patent number: 4982546
Abstract: A space frame node including a hub, a facet device, and a transition connector for holding the facet deviced to the hub. For a planar node, the hub is formed by a pair of members fastened together such that receptor cavities are created between them so as to receive transition connectors, generally in the form of bolts. Any of a variety of facet devices are threaded onto the bolts. For a spherical node, three pairs of hub forming members facing one another are joined together at four legs with bolts and facet devices or alternatively nuts. In addition, facet devices may be installed in the intersecting regions of the legs of the hub forming members. These nodes are lightweight, are usable with quick connect/disconnect facet devices as necessary, and result in a reduction of field assembly time of space frame structures.

  • Patent number: 4971579
Abstract: An improved electrical connector assembly having deflectable retaining fingers for mating with a corresponding connector assembly. Each assembly has at least one electrical terminal housed inside a hollow body adapted to enclose and support the terminal. The body has a separate passage intersecting the cavity in which the terminal resides. In addition, the hollow body has at least one wall section having a deflectable finger engaging and retaining the terminal within the cavity. A removable terminal retainer member is inserted into the passage to a position in which the member is in an interference relation with a portion of the terminal to retain the terminal within the cavity. The terminal retainer also has a wedge leg that, when inserted against the wall section, retains the deflectable finger in engagement with the terminal.

  • Patent number: 4850302
Abstract: A method for the application of chilled particles such as polytetrafluoroethylene generally marketed under the trade mark "TEFLON.revreaction., graphite, molybdenum sulfide and boron nitride to a metal surface having crevices or pores therein. With the metal heated to expand the crevices or pores and the particles chilled to contract them, the particles will be locked into the pores when both the metal and the particles come to equilibrium temperature with the particles thereby expanding and the pores contracting. The method is directed to such an application of chilled particles to expanded pores in large metal objects such as for example, large rolls. The large object is rotated on its linear axis while maintained at the desired temperature and the particles are given an electrostatic charge and chilled prior to their application to the metal surface.

  • Patent number: 4826222
Abstract: A latch having a base and a latch plate pivoted thereto, the base being adapted for installation on a closure frame and the latch plate being adapted to overlie the closure. The latch plate is pivotally mounted on the base to swing between an unlatched position in which the closure can be opened, and a latched position in which the closure cannot be opened because the latch plate overlies it. A handle pivotally mounted on the base swings the latch plate between the open and closed positions. At least one of the base and latch plate are made of an elastically deformable material. The latch plate is moved to the latching position by the camming action of the handle; and when the latch plate has moved only part way toward the fully latched position, abutment surfaces on the base and latch plate come into contact with each other.
