Abstract: Various arrangements for transitioning between data visualizations are presented. A first and second general path may be determined that define a first and second shape, respectively. A plurality of pairs of drawing commands may be created such that each pair of the plurality of pairs of drawing commands includes a first drawing command from the first general path and a second drawing command from the second general path. The plurality of pairs of drawing commands may be modified such that each pair of the plurality of pairs of drawing commands includes a single type of drawing command. A visual transition may be output for presentation between the first shape and the second shape using the modified plurality of pairs of drawing commands.

Abstract: Various arrangements are presented that allow for a prebuilt visualization component to be incorporated into an application under development, wherein the prebuilt visualization component is configured to create graphical nodes to be arranged and output for presentation by the application following compilation. A layout plug-in may be registered with the prebuilt visualization component such that the prebuilt visualization component communicates with the layout plug-in. The layout plug-in may be configured to arrange the graphical nodes such that the graphical nodes created by the prebuilt software component are arranged by the layout plug-in following compilation. The application may be compiled such that the application is compiled to include the prebuilt visualization component and the registered layout plug-in.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of ethanol using a molar excess of hydrogen. A mixed feed of acetic acid and ethyl acetate is fed to a reactor to be converted to ethanol. Hydrogen flow is increased to avoid a negative conversion of ethyl acetate.

Abstract: A system and method can support a flooding mechanism using a multicast group in a middleware machine environment. The middleware machine environment can comprise a gateway instance that includes an external port for receiving one or more data packets from an external network. The middleware machine environment also comprises one or more host servers, each of which is associated with one or more virtual machines that can process the data packets. Furthermore, said host servers can provide virtual interfaces that belong to a virtual hub associated with the gateway instance. At least one said packet is a flooded packet that is specified with an unknown destination address when it is received at the external port. The gateway instance operates to send the flooded packet to the multicast group that operates to forward the flooded packet to one or more said host servers in the multicast group.

Abstract: This invention discloses a kind of boron and fluorine-free fiberglass composite with its characteristic that it has the following compounds under particular mix ratio: SiO2, Al2O3, SiO2+Al2O3, CaO, MgO, TiO2, ZnO, Na2O+K2O and Fe2O3. The preferential process of this invention is: selection of mineral?grinding of mineral?compounding as per ratio?melting in furnace?outflow from platinum bushing?fiberizing?coating of infiltrating liquid?protofilament drying. Compared with the traditional E fiberglass, the composite of this invention has better mechanical performance (tensile strength increased by over 15% and elastic modulus increased by over 5%) and better corrosion resistance (resistance of acid and alkali increased by 20 times); its forming temperature (<1280° C.) and forming range (>80° C.) are proper with good fiberizing performance, which can be produced in large scale.

Abstract: A system including memory and a resource controller. The memory includes a first memgroup and a second memgroup, wherein the first memgroup comprises a first physical page mapped to a virtual page, and wherein the second memgroup comprises a second physical page. The resource controller is configured to receive a request to stop the first memgroup, instruct a memory power management subsystem to mark the first memgroup as stopped in response to receiving the request to stop the first memgroup, wherein no free pages are allocated from the first memgroup after the first memgroup is marked as stopped, remap the virtual page to the second physical page in response to the marking the first memgroup as stopped, and reduce power to the first memgroup in response to a determination that the first physical page is not mapped to the virtual page.

Abstract: Mechanism for consistent core hang detection on a processor with multiple processor cores, each having one or more instruction execution pipelines. Each core may also include a hang detection unit with a counter unit that may generate a count value based on a clock source having a frequency that is independent of a frequency of a processor core clock. The hang detection unit may also include a detector logic unit that may determine whether a given instruction execution pipeline has ceased processing a given instruction based upon a state of the processor core and whether or not the given instruction has completed execution prior to the count value exceeding a predetermined value.

Abstract: In a multiple-wavelength laser source, a multiple-mode laser outputs a set of wavelengths in a range of wavelengths onto an optical waveguide, where a spacing between adjacent wavelengths in the set of wavelengths is smaller than a width of channels in an optical link. Furthermore, a set of ring-resonator filters in the multiple-wavelength laser source, which are optically coupled to the optical waveguide, output corresponding subsets of the set of wavelengths for use in the optical link based on free spectral ranges and quality factors of the set of ring-resonator filters. These subsets may include one or more groups of wavelengths, with another spacing between adjacent groups of wavelengths that is larger than the width of the given channel in the optical link. In addition, the one or more groups of wavelengths may include one or more wavelengths, with the spacing between adjacent wavelengths in the given group of wavelengths.

Abstract: An input/output (I/O) switch fabric includes first physical ports that convey multiple network flows. Moreover, classifiers in the I/O switch fabric separate packets for network flows associated with different types of service. Then, the I/O switch fabric conveys the packets to different virtual switch ports without interference between the separated packets associated with different network flows. Furthermore, second physical ports in the I/O switch fabric output the packets, where a given second physical port outputs packets for at least some of the network flows associated with different types of service. In this way, the given second physical port can output packets having: the same source and destination; different sources and the same destination; or the same source and different destinations.

Abstract: A system, in certain embodiments, includes a casing head and a tubing hanger disposed within the casing head and supported by a first retaining feature of the casing head. The tubing hanger is configured to support a tubing string. The system also includes a guide string hanger disposed within the casing head and supported by a second retaining feature of the casing head independent of the first retaining feature. The guide string hanger is configured to support a guide string.

Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing power consumption of systems using serialized data transmission. In a multi-node system, the reiterative steps for the setup of the lanes within links between the nodes produces both a time invariant set of parameters associated with the channel properties of the lanes and a time variant set of parameters associated with receiver clock alignment. The time invariant set is stored in persistent storage. Links may be turned on and turned off. When a link is turned on again, the stored time invariant set may be used as initial values to reconfigure both the time invariant and the time variant sets, thereby greatly reducing the delay to begin using the link again. The reduced delay may significantly speed up the wakening process for the links, thereby encouraging the use of low-power techniques that include tuning off lanes.

Abstract: An aspect of the present disclosure provides for applying hot fixes to metadata customizing user interactions based on a software program. In an embodiment, a hot fix containing new files is received. Each new file contains a corresponding modified metadata. The user is presented for selection, differences between each new file and a corresponding existing file. Only the selected differences are then used to form patched files, which thereafter control the user interactions, for example, by replacing the corresponding existing file with the patched file. Accordingly the user is provided enhanced control over which of the differences is applied to the metadata.

Abstract: An authorization system that conforms to legacy access control models provides mechanisms whereby structures already existing within those legacy access control models can be used to pass additional information to and from that authorization system. Legacy applications can still interact with the authorization system without modification. Because the authorization system also provides mechanisms whereby the existing structures can be used to pass the additional information or return additional information, more advanced applications can make use of enhanced access control features of the authorization system. Such enhanced features can involve policy-based decisions that take into account the additional information in determining whether to permit resource access. Such enhanced features can involve the placement of policy-specified obligations within the existing structures to be returned back to the advanced applications.

Abstract: Framework for conditionally attaching web service policies to a policy subject (e.g., a web service client or service endpoint) at subject runtime. In one set of embodiments, a constraint expression can be defined that specifies one or more runtime conditions under which a policy should be attached to a policy subject. The constraint expression can be associated with the policy and the policy subject via policy attachment metadata. The constraint expression can then be evaluated at runtime of the policy subject to determine whether attachment of the policy to the policy subject should occur. If the evaluation indicates that the policy should be attached, the attached policy can be processed at the policy subject (e.g., enforced or advertised) as appropriate. Using these techniques, the policy subject can be configured to dynamically exhibit different behaviors based on its runtime context.

Abstract: An optical de-MUX includes a sub-wavelength grating that magnifies an input optical signal. In particular, along a direction perpendicular to a propagation direction of the optical signal, the sub-wavelength grating has a spatially varying effective index of refraction that is larger at a center of the sub-wavelength grating than at an edge of the sub-wavelength grating. Moreover, the optical de-MUX includes an optical device that images and diffracts the optical signal using a reflective geometry, and which provides different diffraction orders to output ports. For example, the optical device may include an echelle grating.

Abstract: Recovery of ethanol from a crude ethanol product obtained from the hydrogenation of acetic acid. Separation and purification processes of the crude ethanol products are employed to allow recovery of ethanol and remove impurities.

Abstract: An optical device has a waveguide immobilized on a base. A lens is defined by the base. A reflecting side reflects a light signal that travels on an optical pathway that extends through the lens and into the waveguide. The reflecting side is positioned to reflect the light signal as the light signal travels along a portion of the optical pathway between the lens and the waveguide. An optical insulator that confines the light signal within the waveguide. The portion of the optical pathway between the lens and the waveguide extends through the optical insulator such that the light signal is transmitted through the optical insulator.

Abstract: A hydrogenation catalyst and process using the catalyst for converting a mixture comprising acetic acid and ethyl acetate to ethanol at a first temperature, and the catalyst desorbs ethyl acetate, in the absence of hydrogen, at a second temperature that is greater than the first temperature. The catalyst has a suitable chemisorption of ethyl acetate at the first temperature in the absence of hydrogen. In one embodiment, the first temperature ranges from 125° C. to 350° C. and the second temperature ranges from 300° C. to 600° C. The catalyst comprises one or more active metals or oxide thereof on a support that comprises tungsten or an oxide thereof. The one or more active metals are selected from the group consisting of cobalt, copper, gold, iron, nickel, palladium, platinum, iridium, osmium, rhenium, rhodium, ruthenium, tin, zinc, lanthanum, cerium, manganese, chromium, vanadium, and molybdenum.
