Abstract: A vehicle power system includes a plurality of power distribution divisions, a rechargeable energy storage system, switching devices for connection of the power distribution divisions to the rechargeable energy storage system, a plurality of loads energized from the power distribution divisions, a control network including nodes for control over the loads and the switching devices, a mobile transponder and a transceiver which is connected to the controller area network and which provides for communicating with the transponder. Sensors monitored by the controller area network and proximity of the mobile transponder determine a state for vehicle power distribution system.

Abstract: A motor vehicle electrical power distribution system includes a plurality of distribution sub-systems, an electrical power storage sub-system and a plurality of switching devices for selective connection of elements of and loads on the power distribution system to the electrical power storage sub-system. A state transition initiator provides inputs to control system operation of switching devices to change the states of the power distribution system. The state transition initiator has a plurality of positions selection of which can initiate a state transition. The state transition initiator can emulate a four position rotary ignition switch. Fail safe power cutoff switches provide high voltage switching device protection.

Abstract: An adaptive automatic transmission control system responds to stopping of a vehicle for reducing torque absorption by an automatic transmission and movement of and range to obstructions forward from a vehicle for reengaging the automatic transmission after a stop. The torque converter is released from its reduced torque absorption mode under one of three circumstances: 1) the brake pedal is released; 2) the detected obstruction moves outside a first predefined maximum range; and, 3) the detected obstruction moves outside a second predefined maximum range and at greater than a predefined minimum speed.

Abstract: A controller area network (CAN) installed on a hybrid electric vehicle provides one node with control of high voltage power distribution system isolation contactors and the capacity to energize a secondary electro-mechanical relay device. The output of the secondary relay provides a redundant and persistent backup signal to the output of the node. The secondary relay is relatively immune to CAN message traffic interruptions and, as a result, the high voltage isolation contactor(s) are less likely to transition open in the event that the intelligent output driver should fail.

Abstract: A driver's seat mounting assembly for a vehicle includes a driver's seat having a base with a base hole, and a floor assembly including a floor sheet supported by a floor support frame. The floor support and the floor sheet define a receiving channel. The assembly further includes a riser platform attached to a top surface of the floor sheet, the riser platform having a platform body configured to receive the driver's seat. The platform body defines a body hole that is configured to be aligned with the receiving channel and the base hole. A sleeve is disposed in the receiving channel of the floor support frame. A fastener is received in the base hole, in the body hole, in the receiving channel, and in the sleeve to anchor the driver's seat to the floor support frame.
