Publication number: 20120174002Abstract: Systems and methods for extending a visualization platform are disclosed. A user may create a visualization project created. One or more properties for a non-native widget established by a developer of the non-native widget may be received from the project. Such properties may designate a name or a type of data that the non-native widget is capable of processing. Responsive to an instruction received from the user of the visualization authoring environment, a source of data to be processed by the non-native widget or a destination of data produced by the non-native widget to be processed by other widgets may be established. The appearance or behavior of the non-native widget may be rendered based at least in part on a value available from the source of the data or the appearance or behavior of one or more other widgets may be rendered based at least in part on data produced by the non-native widget.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2011Publication date: July 5, 2012Applicant: iRiseInventors: Maurice Martin, Steven Yamanaka, Daniel Akiva, Norman Basham, Bryan Lipson

Patent number: 8100094Abstract: Radial impulse engine, pump, and compressor systems are disclosed herein. In one embodiment of the invention, a radial impulse engine includes first and second movable V-members operably disposed between first and second end wall portions. The first V-member can have a first wall portion with a first distal edge portion and a second wall portion with a first cylindrical surface. The second V-member can have a third wall portion with a second distal edge portion and a fourth wall portion with a second cylindrical surface. In this embodiment, the first distal edge portion of the first wall portion can be configured to slide across the second cylindrical surface of the fourth wall portion, and the second distal edge portion of the third wall portion can be configured to slide across the first cylindrical surface of the second wall portion, when the first V-member pivots about a first pivot axis and the second V-member pivots about a second pivot axis.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2010Date of Patent: January 24, 2012Assignee: IRIS Engines, Inc.Inventors: Timber Dick, Corban I. Publication number: 20100282201Abstract: Radial impulse engine, pump, and compressor systems are disclosed herein. In one embodiment of the invention, an engine includes a first end wall portion spaced apart from a second end wall portion to at least partially define a combustion chamber therebetween. In this embodiment, the engine further includes a plurality of movable wall portions disposed between the first and second end wall portions. Each movable wall portion includes a cylindrical surface extending at least partially between a distal edge portion and a pivot axis. Upon ignition in the combustion chamber, the distal edge portion of each movable wall portion slides across the cylindrical surface of the adjacent movable wall portion as the movable wall portions pivot outwardly in unison about their respective pivot axes.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2010Publication date: November 11, 2010Applicant: IRIS ENGINES, INC.Inventors: Timber Dick, Corban I. Patent number: 7822276Abstract: A system and method for analyzing a specimen containing particles that can be difficult to differentiate. The system and method determines a first collective count of a selected group of particles in the specimen, treats at least a portion of the specimen to alter a subgroup of the selected group of particles, determines a second collective count of any of the selected group of particles in the treated portion of the specimen, and subtracts the second collective count from the first collective count to determine a differentiation count for the subgroup of particles altered by the treating of the specimen. The system and method is described with the example of determining concentrations of red and white blood cells in a specimen (e.g. spinal fluid), using auto-particle recognition techniques, without attempting to distinguish and count red versus white blood cells co-existing in the same specimen portion.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2006Date of Patent: October 26, 2010Assignee: IRIS International, Inc.Inventors: Richard H. METHOD OF READING MRZ USING SAM FOR ELECTRONIC CHIP BASED TRAVEL DOCUMENT OR IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENT
Publication number: 20100245034Abstract: Basic Access Control (BAC), as described in the ICAO specifications for machine readable travel documents, requires Basic Access Keys to establish a BAC session. Up to now, the information used to generate these keys has been optically scanned from the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) of the document data page. This invention allows the Basic Access Control feature to be implemented securely without visually/optically scanning the data page of the MRTD.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2007Publication date: September 30, 2010Applicant: IRIS CORPORATION BERHADInventors: Lyndon Irwin D'Oliveiro, Tuck Keong Ho -

Patent number: 7702172Abstract: A method and apparatus for locating the boundary of an object. An electronic image of the object is formed, having a plurality of image pixels. Groups of the image pixels are identified that represent edge segments of the object. Patches are formed around the image pixel groups, where each patch is dimensioned and positioned to entirely contain one of the image pixel groups. A patch merge process is preformed that merges any two of the patches together that overlap each other by a predetermined amount, to form a merged patch that is dimensioned and positioned to entirely contain the two merged patches. The merge process continues for any overlapping patches and merged patches until none of the patches and the merged patches overlap each other by the predetermined amount. All the edge segments contained within one of the merged patches are associated as representing the boundary of the object.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2003Date of Patent: April 20, 2010Assignee: IRIS Internation, Inc.Inventor: Eric Chapoulaud

Publication number: 20090258411Abstract: A centrifugal device and method are provided for the separation of buoyant material such as parasitic ova from fecal matter. A rotor assembly, rotatable about its central axis in a centrifuge, includes a housing with a centrally located top opening leading to a centrally located mixing chamber. An annular sediment chamber is provided, also coaxial about the central axis, connected by a passage with the mixing chamber. A coring assembly is used to retrieve and insert a fecal sample into the mixing chamber for mixing with a flotation fluid. During centrifugation, heavier fecal components pass radially outwardly to the sediment chamber while the ova collect on the inward surface of the flotation fluid. After centrifugation, more flotation fluid is added, if needed, until a meniscus forms at the top opening. A coverslip is placed over the top opening and the ova float to the surface of the fluid and adhere to the coverslip. The coverslip is removed and the ova detected using standard microscopy procedures.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2009Publication date: October 15, 2009Applicant: STATSPIN, INC.
