  • Patent number: 10502949
Abstract: A LIDAR system comprising a pyramidal timing polygon is having a plurality of flat optically reflective facet surfaces. The pyramidal polygon comprises a plurality of spaced apart apertures disposed about the outer circumference thereof to define the plurality of radially disposed facets. The pyramidal polygon is rigidly attached and aligned with the rotating scanning polygon structures to define a pre-defined angular shift. The rotation of the three polygon assemblies is synchronized with a pulsed laser source whereby, for each laser pulse, the individual pyramid facets are disposed at a predetermined angle, such as a 45 degree angle, with respect to the incoming beam so as to direct it along the beam 1 reflective optical path.

  • Publication number: 20190279077
Abstract: To enable a conscious decision-making electronic neural network platform circuit, a neural network or a plurality of neural network layers is disclosed and configured to access to all sensor outputs. The platform is configured with access to stored memory of expected or anticipated sensor outputs, and to access the past signal output history in the context of similar or related activities and outcomes. Such configuration enables the neural network platform of the invention to function as a single entity to decide amongst available courses of action.

  • Patent number: 10331982
Abstract: The Hy-ALERT processing system operates simultaneously on the data streams from visible and thermal imaging sensors and from hyperspectral imaging sensors. The visible and thermal image processing uses cognitive-inspired processing techniques that determine the salient content of the imagers based on the system user definition of salient content. The hyperspectral image processing uses anomaly detection and template matching techniques to determine the salient materials content of the observed scenes. Cross-correlation processing of the salient content of the various image and hyperspectral data streams enables the sensor systems to adapt their operating characteristics to optimize effectiveness in near real-time.

  • Publication number: 20190138830
Abstract: A real time video analytic processor that uses a trained convolutional neural network that embodies algorithms and processing architectures that process a wide variety of sensor images in a fashion that emulates how the human visual path processes and interprets image content. Spatial, temporal, and color content of images are analyzed and the salient features of the images determined. These salient features are compared to the salient features of objects of user interest in order to detect, track, classify, and characterize the activities of the objects. Objects or activities of interest are annotated in the image streams and alerts of critical events are provided to the user. Instantiation of the cognitive processing can be accomplished on multi-FPGA and multi-GPU processing hardware.

  • Patent number: 10185033
Abstract: The ACASS 3D LIDAR system operates in a fundamentally new manner combining features of flash LIDARS and scanning LIDARS simultaneously which enables mission and performance trades to be conducted by varying the sizes of illumination patches within the scenes being observed. Further the combination of these modes of operation into a single LIDAR system enables multiple modes of operation and multiple missions to be accomplished with single lasers obviating the need for multiple lasers and enabling significant simplification of beam control modes. Systems which result from the new, expanded size, weight, power, cost trade space enabled by the ACASS concept can provide new levels of performance at significantly reduced risks and costs The achievement of wide area, three dimensional imaging using a LIDAR sensor system is accomplished with one laser which operates using an eye safe fiber laser with very high puke 13 rates but very low energy per pulse.

  • Patent number: 10078137
Abstract: A LIDAR system that can accommodate both a clear atmosphere and be adaptable to environments in which smoke, dust or other particulates (i.e., a degraded environment) exist in the atmosphere around the target is described. The system operates in two fields of regard: clear view mode (wide field of regard) and a degraded view mode (narrow field of regard). The wide field of regard allows the output laser energy to be concentrated over a large number of detector pixels and thus resulting in high scene scan rate. The narrow field of regard allows concentrating the laser output energy on fewer pixels to compensate for the loss of laser energy due to atmospheric degradation. The combination of the ROIC and LIDAR modes of operation result in a system that is capable of operation under clear and degraded environments.

  • Patent number: 9710699
Abstract: The invention is a device and method for recognizing individuals of interest by analyzing images taken under real world lighting conditions with imperfect viewing. Recognition attributes are identified by running a plurality of processing algorithms on the image data which a) extract indices of recognition that are markers relating to specific individuals, b) create morphable, three dimensional computer graphics models of candidate individuals based on the indices of recognition, c) apply the viewing conditions from the real world data imagery to the three dimensional models, and d) declare recognition based on a high degree of correlation between the morphed model and the raw data image within a catalog of the indices of recognition of individuals of interest. The invention further encompasses the instantiation of the processing on very high thruput processing elements that may include FPGAs or GPUs.

  • Patent number: 8125367
Abstract: A readout circuit which may be in the form of a readout integrated circuit or ROIC is disclosed for use in an AM chirp LADAR system having a photodetector coupled to a passive electronic filter. The filter output is coupled to a capacitive-coupled transimpedance amplifier with an output coupled to an analog storage register. The analog storage register output is coupled to a sample-and-hold circuit which in turn is coupled to an analog to digital converter circuit. In the stacked configuration, each IC operates independently and outputs its signals on a unique output line. The stacked ICs operate under the same set of control vectors as the individual ICs comprising the stack.

  • Patent number: 7511369
Abstract: A three dimensional electronic module is disclosed. Conventional TSOP packages are modified to expose internal lead frame interconnects, thinned and stacked on a reroute substrate. The reroute substrate comprises conductive circuitry for the input and output of electrical signals from one or more TSOPs in the stack to a ball grid array pattern. The exposed internal lead frames are interconnected and routed on one or more side buses on the module to the reroute substrate for connection to external electronic circuitry. Alternatively, internal wire bonds or ball bonds may be exposed in the TSOP packages and routed to the side bus for interconnection to create a BGA scale module. One or more neolayers may also be bonded to a reroute substrate to create a BGA scale module.
