  • Publication number: 20150016910
Abstract: A hole cutter has a substantially cylindrical blade body that defines an interior surface and an exterior surface that is located on an opposite side of the blade body relative to the interior surface. A cutting edge is located at one end of the blade body that generates swarf in cutting the work piece. A pattern is formed on the exterior and/or interior surfaces of the blade body. The pattern is configured to direct swarf generated at the cutting edge through the path and away from the cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 8926410
Abstract: A reciprocating saw blade has a first end with a first tang and a second end with a second tang. The first and second tangs are alternatively engageable with the chuck of a reciprocating saw. The reciprocating saw blade defines a substantially uniform cutting edge extending from approximately the first end to approximately the second end of the blade. The first tang is engageable with the chuck of the reciprocating saw for fixedly securing the first end of the blade to the reciprocating saw and forming with the second tang the free end of the saw blade. Alternatively, the second tang is engageable with the chuck of the reciprocating saw for fixedly securing the second end of the blade to the reciprocating saw and forming with the first tang the free end of the reciprocating saw blade drivable in a reciprocating motion by the reciprocating saw.

  • Patent number: 8881411
Abstract: A hacksaw with an improved mechanism for applying and adjusting the tension on a blade mounted to a blade mount on a front arm and a blade mount on a rocker arm. The rocker arm is pivotally coupled to a handle and is spring biased to place an initial tension on a blade held by the rocker arm and the front arm. A rotatably mounted lever is positioned on the handle for vertically displacing a nut captured in the rocker arm to pivot the rocker arm and adjust the tension on the rocker arm-held blade. An elongate top frame bar of the hacksaw defines a hollow I-beam cross-section accessible from the face of the front handle and is capable of storing saw blades. A bale screw is positioned in the front member for securing the blades in a position extending past the front handle.

  • Patent number: 8869581
Abstract: Compact tube and pipe expanders and flaring tools requiring reduced actuation force by a user. A flaring tool includes a flaring block and a yoke clampable to the flaring block by a clamping mechanism. The yoke includes a housing having a threaded release portion movable between a first position and a second position. A flaring cone of the yoke has a tapered flaring surface adapted to engage an internal surface of a tube and deform at least the engaged portion of the tube against the flaring block into a flared condition. A threaded feed screw is operatively coupleable to the flaring cone to move the flaring cone into engagement with the internal surface of the tube to deform it. The tool has a handle to rotate the feed screw.

  • Patent number: 8776646
Abstract: A locking tool is provided that comprises an adjustment mechanism that can adjust the distance between the jaws, and the clamping force exerted by the jaws on a workpiece, using the same hand that grips the handles of the tool. A locking tool is also provided where the tool can be locked by moving the handles toward one another. Once locked, the pliers can be unlocked and the jaws opened by squeezing the handles toward one another in the same manner, in the same direction and using the same hand as was done to lock the pliers. As a result the pliers can be locked and unlocked using one-hand and using the same hand movement to both lock and unlock the pliers.

  • Publication number: 20140182116
Abstract: A method of operating a clamp (100) that includes a first clamping jaw (102), a support element (104) to which the first clamping jaw is attached and a trigger handle (118) pivotably mounted to a clamp body (112). The method includes actuating the trigger handle causing the first clamping jaw to experience incremental motion and varying the incremental motion as a function of a load encountered by the support element by varying an effective lever arm of the trigger handle by moving a fulcrum point into contact or out of contact with the trigger handle based on the load.

  • Publication number: 20140150620
Abstract: A saw blade having a blade body, a plurality of cutting teeth defining a cutting edge along an edge of the blade body, each tooth along the cutting edge defining a cutting tip. At least one tooth tip along the cutting edge includes a different material, such as, for example, high speed steel, carbide, diamond, and/or a tip coating, than at least one other tooth tip along the cutting edge. The plurality of teeth may be arranged in a repeating pattern or in no pattern along the cutting edge. A method of manufacturing the saw blade includes forming a cutting edge along an axial edge of a blade body, defined by a plurality of cutting teeth having respective tooth cutting tips, wherein at least one tooth tip along the cutting edge includes a different material than at least one other tooth tip along the cutting edge.
