  • Patent number: 10452115
Abstract: A removable power loss protection module interfaces with a carrier board via a bus connection. The removable power loss protection module includes energy storage components that are charged with a voltage received from a host computing system via the carrier board and/or via the host computing system's power supply. If the carrier board experiences a power loss, the removable power loss protection module discharges the energy stored in the energy storage components to the carrier board to allow the carrier board to backup any data that would have been lost. In an implementation, the removable power loss protection module may support multiple carrier boards.

  • Patent number: 10449958
Abstract: A computer system receives data sets for a driving maneuver at a location, such as data regarding a state of a vehicle, an external environment indicated by external sensors, and user feedback regarding the driving maneuver. Data sets may be collected from users having various demographic and behavioral attributes. Users may be selected using design of experiment (DOE) algorithms to cover a wide range of possible combinations. A stochastic response surface model (SRSM) is generated that relates sensor data (vehicle state and environmental) to user feedback regarding safety and comfort. The SRSM may be generated using Gaussian process regression (GPR) in order to model uncertainty. The SRSM is then used to generate a control model using an optimization under uncertainty (OUU) algorithm.

  • Patent number: 10449854
Abstract: A mounting unit for a motor vehicle, comprising a drive shaft bracket fastening a drive shaft to a mounting component of the motor vehicle. The drive shaft bracket is fastened to the mounting component of the motor vehicle by a fastening portion. The drive shaft bracket, in the event of a front force on the drive shaft, is supported by a contact portion of the bracket via a contact point on a supporting component of the motor vehicle, which causes a rotation of the drive shaft bracket around the contact point. The rotation causes a joint between the fastening portion and the mounting component to be released.

  • Patent number: 10450930
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for controlling a vehicle engine to adjust exhaust warm-up strategy based on a vehicle network information. In one example, in response to an expected decrease in temperature of a catalyst of a vehicle below a threshold and an estimated duration thereof based on communications external from the vehicle, a method may include delaying catalyst heating actions, when the catalyst heating actions are determined to be unable to heat up the catalyst to threshold temperatures. However, the catalyst heating actions may be enabled when the catalyst heating actions are determined to be able to achieve the threshold temperature within the duration.

  • Patent number: 10449569
Abstract: Methods, processes, compositions and systems for preventing leaching effects from water pipes (such as lead, steel and copper) having an inner diameter of at least approximately 12 mm. 2-part thermoset resin coating is applied to the inner surfaces of the pipes where the curing agent can be a phenol free and plasticizer free adduct type. The coating can reduce heavy metals, such as lead, from leaching from installed pipes to less than approximately 10 ?g/L (10 ppb). When cured, specific leachates, Bisphenol A and Epichlorohydrin from the coatings will be (less than) <1 ?g/L (1 ppb) with overall TOC levels measured at (less than) <2.5 mg/L (2.5 ppm). Pipes can be returned to service within approximately 24 hours, and preferably within approximately 4 hours. The methods, processes, compositions and systems can work with non-metallic pipes having metal valves and/or metal fittings.

  • Patent number: 10451504
Abstract: A cable termination including an integral instrument package providing intelligence. The instrument package may assume many forms and may serve many purposes. In a preferred embodiment, the termination includes a position-determining system and an on-board processor. The processor determines a current location in space for the termination based on the information it is receiving. This positional information may then be transmitted to an external receiver. In the scenario where the termination is attached to a payload, the positional information may be used by an external positioning device (such as a crane) to control the motion of the termination and thereby place the payload in a desired position. The termination also preferably includes load-monitoring and recording features. The termination may also carry one or more ROV's/AUV's.
