Abstract: A sub-area in an area is identified as an authorized sub-area for a vehicle to access based on detecting a first object in the sub-area from first sensor data. Then a parameter of the first object is determined from the first sensor data. Upon detecting a second object in the sub-area from second sensor data, a parameter of the second object is determined based on the second sensor data. The sub-area is determined valid based on determining the parameter of the second object is different than the parameter of the first object.

Abstract: A modular robot system which may be configured to accommodate packages of varying sizes is provided. The modular robot may include a base have omni-directional wheels and cameras and sensors, one or more modular containers, and a lid, which may be releasably linked together to form a small, medium or larger units. The base, one or more modular containers, and the lid may be electrically linked to provide information to be used in a number of ways. For example, the electrical link may allow two or more modular robots to communicate with each other, enable external displays of multiple modules to act as one large unit, control the motion of the drawers, e.g., allowing them to open/close, and allow the processor(s) in the lid to communicate with the drive system of the omni-directional wheels. A set of alternating interlocking rails and tracks on corresponding surfaces enable the various layers of the modular robot to interlock with one another.

Abstract: An electric drive system includes a controller and an inverter having a switch and a current sensor. The controller reduces power output of the inverter while a sensed temperature of the switch, a sensed current from the inverter, and parameter values of the current sensor are indicative of a predicted temperature of the current sensor being greater than a threshold to maintain inverter temperature lower than the threshold. The parameter values are obtainable from a thermal model of the current sensor. The thermal model is derived from testing a test version of the inverter under different drive cycles in which for each drive cycle a set of information is recorded including a sensed temperature of a switch of the inverter test version, a sensed current output from the inverter test version, and a sensed temperature of a current sensor of the inverter test version.

Abstract: This disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for displaying targeted advertisements on a vehicle. In an example method in accordance with the disclosure, a camera that is mounted on the vehicle captures an image of an individual who may have a view of an exterior portion of the vehicle (such as a side portion, a front-facing portion, or a rear-facing portion). The image is evaluated by a controller based on various classification criteria such as, for example, an ethnicity, an age bracket, and/or a gender of the individual. The controller may further evaluate an audio clip of the individual captured by a microphone mounted on the vehicle. A targeted advertisement that specifically targets the individual is selected based on the evaluation of the image and/or the audio clip. The targeted advertisement is displayed on the exterior portion of the vehicle that is viewable by the individual.

  • Publication number: 20220194402
Abstract: The disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for providing driver alerts inside a neighborhood. In an example embodiment, a neighborhood area network of computers is used to convey to a driver in the neighborhood, a driver alert about a driving impediment present on a road outside a residence. The driving impediment, which may be, for example, a vehicle, a trash receptacle, or an individual, is detected by a detection device (a camera, for example). The detection device informs a computer located in the residence of the driving impediment. The computer then communicates via the neighborhood area network with a computer in the vehicle to alert the driver. In some implementations, information pertaining to driving impediments in the neighborhood may be entered into a distributed ledger by using a blockchain mode of operation. The computer in the vehicle can access the distributed ledger to obtain this information.
