Abstract: A system includes a vehicle body which further includes a front beam. The system also includes an energy absorber that may be coupled to the front-end beam of the vehicle body. In an example, the energy absorber includes a first edge and a second edge that may be opposite to the first edge along a first direction. The energy absorber also includes a first exterior surface that extends between the first edge and the second edges of the energy absorber. Further, the first exterior surface includes a plurality of openings therein. The system also includes a grille having a first edge and a second edge which may be opposite to the first edge of the grille. In one example, the second edge of the grille may be coupled to the first edge of the energy absorber. The grille includes a plurality of extensions that may extend from the second edge in such a way that the plurality of extensions are positioned in the plurality of openings in the energy absorber.

Abstract: A system receives audio data in a frequency range of 20 Hz-20 kHz. The received audio data is encoded by the system into ultrasonic data in frequencies that are greater than 20 kHz, and transmitted into a local area that is proximal to the transmitting device, i.e., within the transmission range of the transmitting device. An ultrasonic communication device that is located in the transmission range of the transmitting device may receive the ultrasonic data. The received ultrasonic data is decoded by the ultrasonic communication system in the receiving device into audio data in a frequency range of 20 Hz-20 kHz, and subsequently presented to a user of the receiving ultrasonic communication device.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and the like that provide for transforming replicated data for consumption in the cloud, for example. Such methods can include attaching a target gateway node at a secondary site to a storage device at the secondary site, searching for an identifier stored in the storage device, and storing replicated data in the replication volume. The identifier is associated with an offset stored in the storage device, and the offset identifies a starting location of a replication volume in the storage device. The replicated data is received by the target gateway node from a source gateway node at a primary site. A starting location is received with the replicated data. The target gateway node stores the replicated data at a first location in the storage volume, and the first location is determined based, at least in part, on the starting location and the first storage location.

Abstract: A telecentric optical element that has a first surface, a second surface, and a layer of optically anisotropic material between the first surface and the second surface. An example method includes receiving sensor data from sensors of a vehicle, determining a weight of the vehicle and determining a body roll of the vehicle. The example method further includes comparing the body roll to a threshold and, if the body roll satisfies the threshold, adjusting the determined weight of the vehicle based on the determined body roll and properties of a suspension system of the vehicle.

Abstract: A bearing isolator capable of operating under flooded conditions is disclosed. The bearing isolator can include a stator, a rotor, a unitizing element and a sealing element, the stator and rotor form a cavity in which the unitizing element is disposed, and features of the unitizing element with features of the stator and rotor to ensure the stator and rotor stay together while still maintaining a gap between the two components to avoid metal on metal contact. The sealing element resides against a surface of the stator and includes a radially-inward extending lip seal that rides against a running surface of the rotor for improved sealing.
