  • Publication number: 20130019614
Abstract: A cooling apparatus and method are provided for cooling an electronic subsystem of an electronics rack. The cooling apparatus includes a local cooling station, which has a liquid-to-air heat exchanger and ducting for directing a cooling airflow across the heat exchanger. A cooling subsystem is associated with the electronic subsystem of the rack, and includes either a housing facilitating immersion cooling of electronic components of the electronic subsystem, or one or more liquid-cooled structures providing conductive cooling to the electronic components of the electronic subsystem. A coolant loop couples the cooling subsystem to the liquid-to-air heat exchanger of the local cooling station. In operation, heat is transferred via circulating coolant from the electronic subsystem and rejected in the liquid-to-air heat exchanger of the local cooling station to the cooling airflow passing across the liquid-to-air heat exchanger. In one embodiment, the cooling airflow is outdoor air.

  • Publication number: 20130024282
Abstract: The automatic purchase history tracking technique described herein can capture information about all of a user's purchases in a single location, such as, for example, a purchase database. In one embodiment when a user purchases an item from a vendor or store, a confirmation of the item purchase is received by the user. For example, this confirmation could be an email confirmation, a paper receipt or a voice confirmation. This confirmation is automatically parsed by the technique to extract purchase information about the item purchase. This parsed information can then be stored and displayed to the user and can also used for various other purposes, such as, for example, targeted marketing. The parsed stored data can also be enhanced by user annotations, and data pushed and pulled from other sources.

  • Patent number: 8358693
Abstract: Computation scheduling and allocation for visual communication is described. In one aspect, multiple frames of video data are encoded by allocating for at least a subset of inter-coded frames, on frame-by-frame basis, computational resources to encode the inter-coded frame. To this end, a computational budget to encode a current inter-coded frame is estimated. The estimate is based on the actual computational costs to encode a previous inter-coded frame of video data. Next, sets of operations associated with encoding the current inter-coded frame are analyzed to determine computational resources to implement the operations. If the computational resources exceed the computational budget, complexity of the operations is reduced until the associated computational resources are less than or equal to the computational budget. At this point, the current inter-coded frame is encoded using the operations and the computational budget. This process is repeated for the remaining inter-coded frames of video data.
