Publication number: 20120155245Abstract: The invention provides a method and a system for rebuilding single ring network topology. In the method, each node in the single ring network detects, at a predetermined time interval, whether the link connected with the root port of the present node is failed (S401); when one node in the single ring network detects a link failure, the node having a blocking port obtains the information that the link failure occurs in the single ring network (S403); and the node having the blocking port switches the state of the port in a blocking state to a forwarding state (S405). With the technical solution provided by the invention, the passive wait for obtaining the link failure can be converted to the active detection for the link failure, and the state of the port in the blocking state is directly switched to the forwarding state. Therefore, the convergence speed is accelerated.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 17, 2009Publication date: June 21, 2012Applicant: ZTE CORPORATIONInventors: Kai Zhang, Weijie Leng

Publication number: 20120158676Abstract: Objects stored in a zip archive may be extracted in random-access fashion (without involving other objects stored in the zip archive) using the addresses of the objects stored in the central directory of the zip archive. However, zip archives often provide insufficient information to enable random access to the data within an object. This capability may be provided by segmenting the object into sections of a section size, and including in the zip archive a block table specifying, for respective sections, the block size of the corresponding block. A zip archive extractor may achieve random access to the object by using the block table to computing the addresses of blocks comprising the selected portion and extracting only those blocks. Backwards compatibility of the zip archive with other zip archive extractors may be preserved by including the block table within a zip extension of the central directory of the zip archive.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 17, 2010Publication date: June 21, 2012Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventor: Thomas Alan Bouldin

Publication number: 20120158764Abstract: Aspects of the subject matter described herein relate to mapping from application objects to an abstract data model. In aspects, a mapper receives registrations that indicate behavior (e.g., how objects are constructed, modified, or examined) of application objects. The behavior may be specified using user-supplied expressions. The mapper aggregates this data and uses it to map application requests for data access into one or more operations that operate on the abstract data model. A data access layer may then translate the operations into actions to access data corresponding to the requests from a store. If appropriate, data obtained from the store may then be inserted into application objects as indicated by the registrations.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 29, 2012Publication date: June 21, 2012Applicant: MICROSOFT CORPORATIONInventors: Colin Joseph Meek, Jeffrey M. Publication number: 20120154117Abstract: A computer may identify an individual according to one or more biometrics based on various physiological aspects of the individual, such as metrics of various features of the face, gait, fingerprint, or voice of the individual. However, biometrics are often computationally intensive to compute, inaccurate, and unable to scale to identify an individual among a large set of known individuals. Therefore, the biometric identification of an individual may be supplemented by identifying one or more devices associated with the individual (e.g., a mobile phone, a vehicle driven by the individual, or an implanted medical device). When an individual is registered for identification, various device identifiers of devices associated with the individual may be stored along with the biometrics of the individual. Individuals may then be identified using both biometrics and detected device identifiers, thereby improving the efficiency, speed, accuracy, and scalability of the identification.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2010Publication date: June 21, 2012Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Nir Nice, Eyal Krupka

Publication number: 20120159510Abstract: Techniques are described for managing states of an object using a finite-state machine. The states may be used to indicate whether an object has been added, removed, requested or updated. Embodiments of the invention generally include dividing a process into at least two threads where a first thread changes the state of the object while the second thread performs the processing of the data found in the object. While the second thread is processing the data, the first thread may receive additional updates and change the states of the objects to inform the second thread that it should process the additional updates when the second thread becomes idle.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2010Publication date: June 21, 2012Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Aditya Kumar, Kevin Wendzel

Patent number: 8205207Abstract: A method, system and program are disclosed for automatically adjusting the allocation of a plurality of information processing system (IPS) resources among a plurality of logical partitions (LPARs). An LPAR is created on a first central processor complex (CPC) and a first LPAR identifier is generated. A configuration change manager is implemented on the LPAR to communicate changes in the LPAR's identifier to an automated resource manager (ARM). IPS resources are automatically allocated to the LPAR. If the LPAR is migrated a second CPC, a second LPAR identifier is similarly generated, resulting in an LPAR configuration change event. The ARM is notified that the migrated LPAR's identifier has changed and receives the changed LPAR identifier. Comparison operations are performed to determine whether the second LPAR identifier matches the first CPC. If not, resources allocated to the migrated LPAR are released for automated allocation to other LPARs comprising the first CPC.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2007Date of Patent: June 19, 2012Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Marcos A.
