Abstract: An optical system for a miniature camera is disclosed. The optical system can have a lens holder including mounting features to position a plurality of lenses. The mounting features can include mounting features that are configured to position a first plastic lens proximate an aperture end portion of the lens holder and/or mounting features that are configured to position a glass plano-convex lens along an optical path through an interior of the lens holder with a substantially planar surface of the glass plano-convex lens positioned toward the aperture end portion of the lens holder.

Abstract: An AV Clip generated by multiplexing video and graphics streams is recorded on a BD-ROM. The graphics stream is a sequence of PES packets. The PES packets include ODSs (Object Definition Segments) carrying graphics data and PCSs (Presentation Control Segments) carrying control information. A PCS indicates that graphics data in a preceding ODS in the arrangement is to be displayed at a predetermined time in a state of being overlaid on the video stream. The PCS and the preceding ODS belong to different DSs, and the graphics data in the preceding ODS may be non-referenced graphics data that is not referenced by a PCS which belongs to the same DS as the preceding ODS.

Abstract: The invention involves a system and a method of determining collectability of a check writer from a database including negative information of a plurality of check writers for check writing approval or denial. The invention provides for an improvement of determining collectability of a check writer in order to more effectively distinguish between collectible check writers and non-collectible check writers. The invention includes receiving the information of the check writer, processing the information to determine a score of the check writer, classifying the check writer within a predetermined category, and removing or retaining the check writer information from the database, depending on the category within which the check writer is classified.

Abstract: An apparatus and corresponding method for deciding whether to perform link adaptation for communication transmitted from a first communication device to a second communication device, where the second communication device examines a signal received from the first communication device and provides a first indication of the quality of the signal. The method includes the steps of: recording at least one first indication of the quality of the signal as received by the second communication device; providing a second indication of the quality of the signal based on the at least one first indication of the quality of the signal; and deciding to perform link adaptation based on the second indication of the quality of the signal. The first indication of the quality of the signal is for example a signal to interference ratio (SIR) estimate. Often, the second indication of the quality of the signal is a changed SIR target value.

Abstract: This invention is directed to systems, devices and methods for treating organic-containing sludges and converting such sludges to high value fertilizers containing both inorganic and organic fertilizer components, which creates an inorganically-augmented bioorganic fertilizer. The invention describes methods to create a thixotrophic or paste-like material via the application of mixing energy to the organic sludge followed by an alkaline treatment and a subsequent ammoniation. The invention further describes a method to increase the plant nutrient content in the organic containing product to a level which permits the finished granular fertilizer product to compete in the commercial agricultural fertilizer marketplace. Further, the invention reduces odors associated with said organic-containing sludges.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an ink-jet ink composition, which comprises (A) a polybutadiene; (B) a radical polymerizable compound having a (meth)acryloyl group; (C) a radical polymerization initiator; and (D) a colorant. The ink composition is highly sensitive to activated radiant rays and can accordingly be cured in a high sensitivity when irradiated with the same, can maintain its flexibility even after the cure thereof and can accordingly be used suitably in the ink-jet recording method and a method for the preparation of a lithographic printing plate, to thus form printed matters and a lithographic printing plate having high printing durability.

Abstract: The data transfer between an initiator and a target, interconnected over an IEEE1394 interface, is to be improved in efficiency. At the time of login, the buffer information of the targets 11 to 14 is acquired by an initiator 10. Based on the buffer information, acquired by the initiator 10, a data transfer table, at least including the node ID information of the targets 11 to 14, address information of the buffer memory and the data transmission/receipt specifying information for specifying the transmission or receipt of the data, is formulated. The data transfer table, formulated by the initiator, is supplied to each target. When a signal instructing the transfer of the data is input, handshaking is performed between the initiator 10 and the targets 11 to 14, based on the predetermined information appended to the transfer protocol of the interface, to effect the data transfer based on the data transfer table.

Abstract: A scalable layered video coding scheme that encodes video data frames into multiple layers, including a base layer of comparatively low quality video and multiple enhancement layers of increasingly higher quality video, adds error resilience to the enhancement layer. Unique resynchronization marks are inserted into the enhancement layer bitstream in headers associated with each video packet, headers associated with each bit plane, and headers associated with each video-of-plane (VOP) segment. Following transmission of the enhancement layer bitstream, the decoder tries to detect errors in the packets. Upon detection, the decoder seeks forward in the bitstream for the next known resynchronization mark. Once this mark is found, the decoder is able to begin decoding the next video packet. With the addition of many resynchronization marks within each frame, the decoder can recover very quickly and with minimal data loss in the event of a packet loss or channel error in the received enhancement layer bitstream.

Abstract: A content distributing server capable of reproducing desired display contents in conformity with reproduction of a desired musical composition. In response to a request from a terminal device, one of musical composition contents stored in a musical composition database is identified, and one of template contents stored in a template database is identified. A reproduction time length of the identified template content is adjusted according to a reproduction time length of the identified musical composition content. The adjusted template content is added to the musical composition content to generate a synthesized content, which is distributed to the terminal device.

At an indication consolidator, a request is received from a client to receive indications about a plurality of nodes in accordance with first filter information. A communication structure for forwarding indications is determined. Subscription requests including said first filter information are forwarded from said indication consolidator to others of said plurality of nodes to establish communication connections between said plurality of nodes in accordance with said communication structure. Indications fired from any of said plurality of nodes in accordance with said first filter information are forwarded to said indication consolidator node in accordance with said communication structure. The client is notified of any indications received at said indication consolidator node in accordance with said first filter information.

A means is presented by which the beginning and ending state of a turbo encoder can be made the same using a very small number of dummy bits. In some instances, any dummy bits that are added to an information block before undergoing interleaving are removed after interleaving and before transmission of a turbo coded signal via a communication channel thereby increasing throughput (e.g., those dummy bits are not actually transmitted via the communication channel). In other instances, dummy bits are added to both the information block that is encoded using a first constituent encoder as well as to an interleaved information block that is encoded using a second constituent encoder.

Abstract: This invention provides a method for resist under layer film formation, which can form a resist under layer film which can function as an anti-reflection film, is excellent in pattern transfer properties and etching resistance, and does not cause bending of a pattern even in the transfer of a fined pattern, and a composition for the resist under layer film for use in the method, and a method for pattern formation. The method for resist under layer film formation comprises the steps of coating a composition for resist under layer film formation (for example, a composition comprising a compound having a phenolic hydroxyl group, a solvent, and an accelerator) onto a substrate to be processed, and treating the formed coating film under an oxidizing atmosphere having an oxygen concentration of not less than 1% by volume and a temperature of 300° C. or higher to form a resist under layer film.

Abstract: An NOx catalyst of storage reduction type and an after-catalyst NOx sensor are provided in an exhaust passage in an internal combustion engine. The after-catalyst NOx sensor detects the NOx concentration on the downstream side of the NOx catalyst. The NOx concentration on the upstream side of the NOx catalyst is detected or estimated. The possible abnormality of the after-catalyst NOx sensor is determined by comparing the NOx concentration on the upstream side of the NOx catalyst detected or estimated and the NOx concentration detected by the after-catalyst NOx sensor, under the condition that the NOx catalyst does not substantially absorb NOx in exhaust gas. Abnormality diagnosis is performed with the possible impact of the NOx catalyst inhibited.

Abstract: A system and method for web browsing using placemarks and contextual relationships in a data processing system. A navigation placemark is provided within a web browser. The web browser comprises a first web page and a second web page. A piece of information is located at a specific location within each of the first and second web pages. A first individual placemark is added to the navigation placemark, and a second individual placemark is added to the navigation placemark. Web page content is extracted from the first web page and can be used to control information shown within the second web page. An interaction between the first individual placemark and the second individual placemark is specified. A trigger criteria for the first individual placemark and the second individual placemark is also specified. A first profile and a second profile are created. The first profile is run as a background process that can be driven by the second profile, and a user may switch between the first and second profiles.
