Abstract: The present invention provides a method of forming a rigid interconnect structure, and the device therefrom, including the steps of providing a lower metal wiring layer having first metal lines positioned within a lower low-k dielectric; depositing an upper low-k dielectric atop the lower metal wiring layer; etching at least one portion of the upper low-k dielectric to provide at least one via to the first metal lines; forming rigid dielectric sidewall spacers in at least one via of the upper low-k dielectric; and forming second metal lines in at least one portion of the upper low-k dielectric. The rigid dielectric sidewall spacers may comprise of SiCH, SiC, SiNH, SiN, or SiO2. Alternatively, the via region of the interconnect structure may be strengthened with a mechanically rigid dielectric comprising SiO2, SiCOH, or doped silicate glass.

Abstract: Method of charging dynamic-pressure bearing device with lubricating fluid. Preparatorily, lubricating fluid is put into a vacuum chamber and the chamber is vacuum-evacuated to subject the lubricating fluid to a degassing process. An appropriate quantity of fluid is dispensed in one end of the bearing gap, with the bearing device having been placed in a reduced-pressure ambient. In carrying out the dispensation, the pressure of the ambient is adjusted so as to be higher than the pressure during the degassing process. The method in this way prevents the lubricating fluid from frothing when it is being dispensed, and makes it possible to charge dynamic-pressure bearing devices with lubricating fluid without soiling the bearing-device surfaces with splashes or other contaminants.

Abstract: An interface connection is described for joining a host device, such as a Network Processor, to peripherals such as modems, printers, local area networks, Ethernets and Token-Ring interfaces. The connection is particularly useful for joining portable computers, such as laptops, to these peripherals. The connector utilizes a programmable Network Processor (NP) either in the host device or in an external fan-out box. This programmable Network Processor adapts the host device to a variety of peripheral devices utilizing different protocols and I/O speeds. The NP can use a Digital Signal Processor to provide programmable services to the physical layers. The host device may contain a high-speed communication interface with the NP contained in the external connection box.

Abstract: A spark plug according to the present invention includes a metal shell, an insulator, a cylindrical center electrode, a first ground electrode, and a second ground electrode. The first ground electrode is aligned with the center electrode in the axial direction of the center electrode to form a first spark gap, across which normal sparks are discharged when the insulator is not fouled with carbon. The second ground electrode is aligned with the center electrode in the radial direction of the center electrode to form a second spark gap, across which side sparks are discharged when the insulator is fouled with carbon. The spark plug has an improved structure where dimensional parameters A, T, B, C, L, D, and E are specified to be in suitable ranges that are determined through experimental investigation. The improved structure ensures a high ignition capability and a long service life of the spark plug.
Abstract: A vehicular lamp that irradiates amber light includes: a light emitting diode operable to emit blue light; a long-wavelength phosphor operable to emit light of which a peak wavelength is substantially equal to or longer than a wavelength of the umber light based on the blue light emitting from the light emitting diode; and an optical filter operable to block the bulk of light emitting from the light emitting diode and also to transmit the bulk of light, which has a wavelength similar to the peak wavelength, among light emitting from the long-wavelength phosphor to generate the amber light depending to light emitting from the light emitting diode and the long-wavelength phosphor.
Abstract: A system and method for declaring alert indications that occur in an enterprise comprising translating a number of device outputs into a common format event using a number of translation files, and generating a number of knowledge-containing common format events based on matches between the common format events and knowledge base tables. A set of rules determines whether the knowledge base common format events rise to an alert indication for further automated correlation and analysis.
Abstract: A convenient and commonly applicable method for the specific detection of a nucleic acid with an arbitrary sequence is provide. This method comprises attaching at least a nucleic acid single strand to an electrode, bringing the thus-obtained modified electrode in contact with a solution containing the analyte single-stranded nucleic acid, and measuring the redox reaction of the redox marker.

Abstract: As the name of a given road is inputted, intersecting roads that share nodes such as an intersecting, merging, or branching point with the given road are designated. From the given road's nodes shared by the designated intersecting roads, the nearest node to the present position is displayed along with its peripheral map. A portion of the given road that is far from the present position is thereby prevented from being displayed along with its peripheral map. This can eliminate additional manipulation such as changing a reduction scale of the displayed map or repeatedly scrolling the displayed map till an objective point is being displayed. As a result, operationality can be enhanced in designating a point such as an objective point by using a name of a road.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for enabling a clean, fragile object to be transported while protecting both front and back surfaces of the object are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a thermophoretic wand that is arranged to carry an object having a first temperature includes a first element, a contact surface, and an air supply. The first element has a first opening defined therein, and is maintained at a second temperature that is lower than the first temperature such that when the first element is in proximity to the object, a thermophoretic forces may be such that particles present between the object and the first element are driven away from the object. The air supply applies a vacuum of a first level through the first opening to suction the object against the contact surface.
Abstract: A two-cylinder V-type OHV engine for outboard motors, which allows space saving in the direction of the width of the engine. A starboard side cylinder bank (RB) has a cylinder (34R) and a port side cylinder bank (LB) has a cylinder (34L). Abstract: A speech recognition method includes use of synchronous or asynchronous audio and a video data to enhance speech recognition probabilities. A two stream coupled hidden Markov model is trained and used to identify speech. At least one stream is derived from audio data and a second stream is derived from mouth pattern data. Gestural or other suitable data streams can optionally be combined to reduce speech recognition error rates in noisy environments.

Abstract: A vacuum regulating valve which is simplified in structure and where the flow rate characteristic in evacuating a vacuum vessel is improved, comprises (i) a main valve 1A of a large size which has: a principal body 4 having two main ports 11, 12 connected to a vacuum vessel 7 and a vacuum pump 8, respectively, a valve seat 14 disposed in a fluid passage connecting the ports 11, 12, a valve element 15 seated on and separated from the valve seat 14, and a shaft 20 extending from the valve element 15; and a valve element operating unit 5 for operating the valve element 15 via the shaft 20, and (ii) a sub valve 2A of a small size similar in structure to the main valve 1A. The sub valve 2A is attached to an outer side surface of a casing 10 of the main valve 1A.
