  • Patent number: 4693083
Abstract: A vacuum brake force booster is provided wherein the pressure column above the immersing valve plunger of the dual valve contained in the piston chamber, in the applied position, generates a reaction force imparting to the vehicle drive the feeling of the extent of deacceleration. In addition to the valve plunger coupled to the push rod of the brake pedal, the control housing in the piston chamber is displaceable in the brake housing along with the movable wall and acts as a plunger piston. For this purpose, the control housing is sealingly passed through a wall of the master cylinder. The intermediate piston separating the two piston chambers in the master cylinder at the front side thereof facing the valve piston is provided with a rubber reaction disc. The valve plunger and the control housing or a sleeve cooperating with the control housing, in the event of a failure of one of the brake circuits, will abut the reaction disc.

  • Patent number: 4550567
Abstract: A tandem master cylinder which has a compensating bore in communication with a chamber on the rear side of the master piston. The bore is provided in the front wall of master cylinder piston and is adapted to be closed by means of valve body movable relative to said master cylinder piston. The valve body is provided on the end of a central clamping element interconnecting the two spring retainers of a piston restoring spring of master cylinder piston. The valve body is urged against compensating bore as soon as the piston restoring spring is loaded. In order to maintain a predetermined filling pressure in the chamber behind the master cylinder piston and in the output position of the piston in pressure chamber, the piston restoring spring is supported on a spring retainer that is held through a stop on the cylinder housing.

  • Patent number: 4446744
Abstract: An ultrasonic flowmeter arrangement has a pair of electroacoustic transmit/receive transducers located in opposite walls of a pipe, the transducers being longitudinally displaced and facing one another, thus forming a bidirectional transmission path oblique to the direction of fluid flow in the pipe. Each transducer is driven by a voltage controlled oscillator operating sometimes at nominally the same frequency. In one case the oscillator outputs are divided down separately to provide two different transmission frequencies. Filters apply to phase comparison means corresponding transmitted and received frequencies. The outputs of the phase comparison means provide feedback control signals for the oscillators. The oscillator outputs are fed to a mixing means to derive a difference frequency signal as a measure of the rate of fluid flow in the pipe.

  • Patent number: 4329631
Abstract: A windshield wiper control circuit is described wherein the time at which the wiper motor is deenergized after an operating switch has been switched off is determined by the wiper speed. The parking position of the wiper is thereby independent of the condition of the windshield.

  • Patent number: 4213808
Abstract: Porous silica doped with zinc is used as a p-type dopant source in the construction of rib lasers. This is preferable to the method used in the parent case of growing a zinc doped layer because epitaxial growth is liable to be accompanied by zinc diffusion into regions where it is not required. Other modifications include allowing the zinc diffusion to go right through the active layer and to dimension the device so that lateral optical guidance is unaffected by the rib.

  • Patent number: 4211310
Abstract: There is disclosed a caliper guide for a floating-caliper disc brake comprising parallel grooves in adjacent guide surfaces of the caliper and caliper support and roller elements supported in the grooves to movably connect the caliper and caliper support. By means of this caliper guide, low sliding forces are achieved without the occurrence of a clearance which could lead to disturbing rattling noises.

  • Patent number: 4198099
Abstract: A braking pressure control unit for use on vehicles provides for dual-circuit braking of the rear axle. The braking pressure control unit comprises a braking force reducer including a stepped piston and a braking force limiter disposed coaxially and in series therewith. The closing member of the limiter bears directly against the stepped piston while the closing member of the reducer bears, in the rest position, against a stop independent of the limiter. As a result, the change-over point in one brake circuit will not change in the event of failure of the other brake circuit.

  • Patent number: 4191210
Abstract: A throttling arrangement for braking systems with antiskid control disposed between the pressure-control device and the wheel braking cylinders. The throttle is so designed that a valve passageway bypassing it remains open until a preset braking pressure is reached. This arrangement ensures rapid brake application in the lower pressure range while at the same time permits a restricted increase of the braking pressure in the upper pressure range independently of the frequency of the antiskid control cycles.

  • Patent number: 4189190
Abstract: There is disclosed a reducer unit for a motorcycle brake system including a hand master cylinder actuatable by hand force and a pedal master cylinder actuatable by force applied to the pedal. The reducer, which is connected to both master cylinders, ensures at all times optimum brake force distribution, in spite of different actuating forces. In this arrangement, the valve closure member controlling the connection between the pedal master cylinder and the rear-wheel brake is influenced by the pedal master cylinder pressure such that it is allowed to assume its closing position only when pressure is built up by the pedal master cylinder. Vacuum otherwise occurring in the rear-wheel brake is thus effectively avoided.
