  • Patent number: 4494901
Abstract: The method of aligning successive stacks of sheets each having a lower portion and an upper portion off-set comprises horizontally feeding each stack with the offset edge of the upper portion leading towards a horizontally disposed sheet separating blade to a position at which the offset edge overhangs the blade. Relative vertical movement between the blade and the stack is effected until the blade has partly lifted the offset edge of the upper portion. Relative horizontal movement between the blade and the lower portion of the stack is next effected by pushers to cause penetration of the blade between the upper and lower portions followed by abutment with the offset edge to bring the upper portion into alignment with the lower portion.

  • Patent number: 4487545
Abstract: A method for lowering roll wound with a web on a winding machine wherein the roll is supported eccentrically on the upper portion of the circumference of a support roll, the roll being formed by winding the web onto a core tube carrying end insets, the method comprising lifting the web roll from below so as to disengage it from the support roll, withdrawing the end insets from the core tube, and then lowering the web roll to a removal level out of contact with the support roll. A suitable apparatus is provided comprising a trough 4 for holding the wound wed roll, and drive means 9 for raising and lowering the trough along an arcuate path corresponding to the circumference of the support roll 1. The trough comprises a pair of plates 5 and 6 pivotally connected to one another about a horizontal shaft, plate 5 picking up the web roll 2 by its underside and being laterally guided by a cam follower 13 guided along a cam 14.

  • Patent number: 4484736
Abstract: In the changing of the dimensions of sheets of paper to be stacked by a paper stacking apparatus including a conveying station, adjustable upper tapes moving about reflection rollers, separating shoes, ejector rolls, separating plates and stopper boards, the improvement which comprises displacing the upper tapes along with their deflection rollers, the separating shoes, the ejector rolls, and the separating plates all together transversely to the paper path. This is effected by providing a rod which connects the upper-tape deflection rollers, a separating shoe, ejector rolls, and a separating plate whereby they will all be transversely displaced together.

  • Patent number: 4483463
Abstract: Apparatus for the dispensing of very small amounts of liquid includes a measuring vessel which can be filled with an amount of liquid, and to whose outlet there is connected an ejector of a partial quantity. A sensor responds to the liquid level in the measuring vessel, to control a filling system which receives therefrom a signal for the filling of the measuring vessel when the minimum permissible lower liquid level is reached and a signal for the ending of the filling process when the maximum permissible upper liquid level is reached. The sensor is a capacitor which extends at least over the entire range of the variable liquid level in the measuring vessel and whose dielectric is the liquid situated in the measuring vessel. A capacitance meter is provided for measuring the capacitance of the capacitor.

  • Patent number: 4467847
Abstract: In a processing machine for objects, such as a labeling or filling machine for bottles, comprising a turntable having at least two arcuate transport path sections each for one string of objects and stationary or co-moving processing structure, such as labeling stations or filler spouts, associated with these transport path sections, transfer structure disposed at the points of entrance and exit of the transport path sections, and infeed and outfeed conveyors, the improvement which comprises disposing the infeed conveyor (12) leading to the transfer structure (23, 24) of one transport path section and the outfeed conveyor (20) adjoining the transfer structure (19, 18) of the other transport path section alongside one another and approximately over the center of the turntable (1). The machine can be adapted to perform multiple operations on each path section, such as filling and labeling, and the operations can be different on the two sections.

  • Patent number: 4465243
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the shaftless winding of a web on two support rolls of different diameters, the smaller-diameter support roll having its axis in a horizontal plane above or below the horizontal plane in which the larger-diameter support roll has its axis. Specific pivot angles of the small-diameter support roll relative to the large-diameter support roll are employed in order to make the web-roll density more uniform over the diameter of the web roll and to decrease or increase said density as required.
