Abstract: The invention relates to insertion tools. Insertion tools are known to be used to secure a threaded insert to a plate-like member, to receive a threaded stem or stud of another component that needs to be attached to the plate-like member. The object of the invention is to allow a male threaded stud to be attached to a plate-like member. The objective is met by a tool that comprises a pair of handles pivotally attached to each, a drawbar in engagement with one handle to the opposite side of the pivot to the hand grip, the drawbar extending out of the other handle to lie within a guide tube attached to the said other handle, an extension tube attached to the support tube, an extension piece to the drawbar having a threaded end section at one end to engage a threaded hole in the end of a drawbar and having a threaded bore at the opposite end to receive a threaded stem intended to be attached on or in a support.

Abstract: Lockable telescopic members are known that employ separate compression fittings or spring clips, and which can with advantage be avoided. Twist locks are also known where the members can be over rotated to release the connection and cause damage to the members.

Abstract: A hand held digital read-out measuring instrument in which interference fringes are generated by the transmission of radiations through gratings which move relative to one another according to a distance being measured and the fringes are counted to detect changes in the fringe pattern and generate a pulse output related to the distance, means being provided to control the rate of movement and to exert a substantially constant force on the movable elements.

Abstract: A device for use in re-sharpening fluted cutting tools comprises a body, means on the body adapted to set the tool in a position whereby one front cutting edge is correctly exposed, means on the body adapted to secure the tool in that position and means on the body adapted to cause oscillatory movement of the cutting tool in a generally longitudinal plane of the tool as the device is moved along an abrasive surface.

Abstract: An adjustable mounting for a dial gauge is provided with provision for fine adjustment through a rotating sleeve having an inclined end face bearing against the adjacent end of a mounting member on the support stem for the gauge. A bridging piece extending radially outward from the stem engages the inclined face and a spring urges the sleeve against the bridging member. The mounting member is held on the stem by a pivot pin extending transversely through the stem. Additional positioning adjustment is provided by a knuckle assembly with a spring between the support stem and a main support pillar with a single operating locking screw.
