    Abstract: A sealed type battery is disclosed which can reduce variations in the operating pressure of a safety valve, improve the reliability for the airtightness of a battery vessel, remove the contact of electrode plates and the case due to the rightward or leftward deviation of a group of electrode plates in the direction of the winding shaft, remarkably reduce the internal short-circuiting production rate, and realize cost lowering or reduction in the number of working steps. The battery is equipped with a safety valve in which a cover plate having a hole, a metal thin plate and a holding plate of metal having a hole are stacked with the metal thin plate sandwiched and integrally fixed by laser welding.

    Abstract: Connecting plates of a sufficiently large thickness can be respectively connected to terminals attached to positive and negative sides, respectively, thereby providing a cylindrical cell which is suitable for supplying a large current and a cell pack using the cylindrical cell.A cell holder is provided in which upper and lower end portions of cylindrical cells are held by a pair of supporting members provided with a vent hole, thereby allowing heat generated from the cylindrical cells to be dissipated to the exterior via the vent hole.In order to attain the objects, in a cylindrical cell, terminals are attached to the cover on the positive side and the bottom face of the case on the negative side, respectively. Each of the terminals consists of a face portion in which a female threaded hole is opened or a male threaded portion is erected, and legs which are formed by bending the four sides of the face portion. The legs are spot-welded to the cover and the bottom face of the case.

    Abstract: An electrochemical fluid delivery device according to the present invention includes an electrochemical cell and a flexible bladder having a first chamber for reservoiring a fluid and a second chamber into which gas generated by the electrochemical cell is introduced. The gas compresses the first chamber to deliver the fluid from a delivery port of the first chamber. The bladder is formed of three sheets that are stacked, and their edge portions are joined to each other so that first and second sheets form the first chamber as well as the second sheet and a third sheet form the second chamber. A fluid delivery port and a gas introduction port are provided in the first and second chambers, respectively. The fluid delivery port is also used as a fluid pour port. Alternatively, the fluid pour port is independently provided.

The speed changing mechanism can be set to have a ratio of the rapid rotation speed to the slow rotation speed of 2.5/1 or less.

    Abstract: A sealed lead-acid battery which includes a container accommodating an assembled element. The assembled element has at least one electrochemically formed positive plate having a grid of an antimony-free alloy, wherein the plate is made of porous active material. The assembled element also includes at least one electrochemically formed negative plate having a grid of an antimony-free lead alloy, wherein the plate is made of a porous active material. A separator, having a plurality of projections on one or both side thereof, is inserted between the positive and negative plates. A layer of powder is placed between the positive and negative plates and around the assembled element. The powder is composed of a closely packed powder, which is acid-resistant and hydrophilic, and has gas channels within its interior. The powder is immobilized with an acid-resistant porous layer placed above the powder, wherein the porous layer is permeable to gases and liquids, and impervious to particles of the powder.
