Abstract: A corner joint for fenestration frames and the like includes first and second frame members having hollow interiors and ends joined in abutment. A corner key insert has legs inserted into the ends of the frame members. End portions of the legs engage the hollow interiors of the frame members forming adhesive cavities within the frame members and along the end portions of the corner key legs. Adhesive is disposed within the cavities to bond the corner key legs to the frame members, thereby creating a structural joint between the frame members. The corner key insert may include multiple injection ports for delivering adhesive to the cavities from a selected side of the frame assembly. Legs of the corner key may have notches formed therein to receive an internal wall of the frame members, and distal ends of the legs may include a flow barrier that contours along the notches.

Abstract: A shootbolt system for a fenestration assembly, such as a sliding patio door system, includes a chassis mountable to a stile of a sliding panel of the fenestration assembly, and a shootbolt slidably coupled to the chassis. The shootbolt is designed to be coupled to a corner drive system of the sliding panel for movement therewith upwardly or downwardly along the stile in response to an applied actuation force, such as from an operator handle. When extended, the shootbolt engages a receiver or stop mounted to the frame to prevent the sliding panel from rebounding when an adjacent second sliding panel is slidably moved to a closed position in contact with the sliding panel.

Abstract: A drip cover for a fenestration unit. The fenestration unit includes a frame and a slideable panel supported for sliding movement within the frame. A gap is defined between the slideable panel and the frame. The drip cover includes a mounting member configured to attach to the slideable panel. The drip cover also includes an overhang that projects from the mounting member and that is configured to cover over the gap when the mounting member is attached to the slideable panel. The overhang is supported for resilient flexure relative to the mounting member between a neutral position and a flexed position. The overhang is resiliently biased toward the neutral position. The overhang, when the mounting member is attached to the slideable panel, is configured to contact a surface, thereby resiliently flexing the overhang between the neutral position and the flexed position, as the slideable panel slides relative to the surface.

Abstract: A weatherstrip carrier of a replaceable weatherstrip system for a fenestration unit includes a weatherstrip support configured to hold a weatherstrip. The weatherstrip carrier also includes a coupling member that is attached to the weatherstrip support. The coupling member is configured to removably attach to the fenestration unit. The coupling member includes a spine, a first projection, and a second projection. The first and second projections project from the spine in a common direction. The coupling member is resiliently flexible for movement between a neutral position and a flexed position. The first and second projections are biased toward each other when the weatherstrip carrier is in the flexed position. The second projection is configured to be removably received within the fenestration unit, with the weatherstrip carrier in the flexed position, and with the first and second projections cooperatively compressing against the fenestration unit to retain the weatherstrip carrier thereon.
Abstract: The disclosure relates to systems and methods for pressing a door assembly involving a scanning system operable to survey an outer surface of a door skin and identify a location of one or more recessed panel portions on the door skin, and a press operable to selectably actuate a group of actuators based on the identified location of the recessed panel portions, where the actuators drive press members onto the one or more recessed panel portions of the door skin during a pressing operation to facilitate crushing of portions of a core of the door assembly that underlie the recessed panel portion of the door skin.
Abstract: A fastener system for securing a panel to a frame comprises one or more rotating fasteners installed in the perimeter edge of the panel. In operation, one or more cam surfaces of the fastener engage receiving surfaces of a receiver on the frame such that, upon rotation of each fastener, the panel is drawn toward the frame. In some embodiments, the panel is moved in a first direction parallel to the panel and a second direction perpendicular to the panel or in a composite diagonal direction inclined relative to the panel. The fastener system may facilitate compression of seals disposed along the perimeter edge of the panel and between a side of the panel and rabbet ledge of the frame and may further facilitate removal and maintenance of the panel.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a pivot bar for a tiltable sash window where the pivot bar is designed for mounting along an exterior surface of a sash frame. The pivot bar includes a first leg positioned within a channel formed on the stile of the sash frame and a second leg positioned within a channel formed on the bottom rail of the sash frame. In a coupled configuration, the pivot bar wraps around the exterior surface of the corner of the sash frame where the stiles and bottom rail meet.
Abstract: An assembly for a door or window frame including an elongated sill and a corner key attached to each end of the sill. The corner key includes a water chamber for collecting water therein and a plurality of ports for diverting water from the water chamber outwardly through a drain port. The water chamber and plurality of ports are designed to temper a high-pressure gradient in the sill and effectively promote water egress away from the sill.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a sliding fenestration system assembly, such as a door or window system. The sliding fenestration system includes a sill having a first track channel and a second track channel formed thereon. A sill track including a first track segment, a second track segment, and a third track segment is coupled to the sill such that the first track segment is positioned within the first track channel, the third track segment is positioned within the second track channel, and the second track segment extends between the first and second track channels. The system further includes a sliding panel having one or more bottom guide assemblies, the assemblies engaging the sill track and operable to accommodate movement of the sliding panel along the sill track to reduce friction at a sealing interface between the sliding panel and the fenestration frame assembly.
