Abstract: A vacuum packaging apparatus for securing a plurality of vacuum skin packaging (VSP) products is provided and includes a receiving plate, a plurality of cavity walls, and a plurality of vacuum channels. The plurality of cavity walls extending downward from a planar bottom surface of the receiving plate and provide a plurality of cavities there within. The plurality of cavity walls includes an upper cavity wall encircling an upper cavity of the plurality of cavities, and a lower cavity wall encircling a lower cavity that is positioned adjacent to the upper cavity and recessed with respect to the upper cavity walls. The plurality of vacuum channels extend through the receiving plate and into the plurality of cavities.
Abstract: A method for packaging a container comprises securing a product to an end effector of a robot arm and using the robot arm to move the product. The container has a plurality of side panels, a plurality of first top flaps extending from the side panels to a first height, and a plurality of second top flaps extending from a the side panels to a second height greater than the first height. The robot arm moves the product to an initial position in which the product is positioned spaced apart from the second top flaps and over the first top flaps, from the initial position to a first deflected position in which the product abuts the second top flaps, from the first deflected position to a second deflected position lower than the first deflected position, and from the second deflected position to an undeflected position.
Abstract: The automated gripping tool enables a user to move a food product from a first position to a second position while maintaining the integrity and appearance of the food product. The gripper tool makes use of flexible bands on a pair of gripping arms. The flexible bands are positioned to sandwich a food product between them with sufficient force to allow the food product to be repositioned and without damaging the integrity and appearance of the food product.
