  • Patent number: 5633070
Abstract: An adhesive film for adhesive bandage in which an adhesive is coated on one surface of a nonwoven fabric, characterized in that a film having water vapor permeability and water proofing property is laminated on the opposite surface of the nonwoven fabric. A backing sheet is formed in such a structure that an elastic nonwoven fabric is laminated with a film having water vapor permeability and water proofing property, whereby sufficient flexibility and excellent water vapor permeability are provided and help to keep skin respiration and not only to prevent skin irritation caused by stickiness with perspiration or the like but also to completely prevent permeation of water, a detergent aqueous solution or the like into a pad portion or an affected part and further to prevent infection of a wound with bacteria. The preventions can be more completed by sealing the edge portion of the adhesive bandage via heat-sealing or the like.

  • Patent number: 5613963
Abstract: A panty liner comprising a primary liquid-retaining component in the form of a unitary sheet of non-woven fabric. A liquid-impervious barrier layer is affixed to the sheet of non-woven fabric to prevent body exudate absorbed therein to egress through a garment facing side of the panty liner. The invention also extends to a method and to an apparatus for manufacturing the panty liner.

  • Patent number: 5590438
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved bristled article and more particularly to an improved toothbrush which has a tuft cavity with a cross-sectional area that decreases such that the tuft cavity is broadest at the open top end and becomes narrower toward the closed bottom end of the tuft cavity. This decrease of the breadth of the tuft cavity results in a greater packing factor in the closed bottom end portion of the cavity than in the open top end and provides higher bristle retention force.

  • Patent number: 5590814
Abstract: A method and apparatus for loading a bobbin core from a plurality of bobbin cores onto a bobbin winding device. A plurality of stacked bobbin cores are received into a first end of a first chute. The first chute has a second end positioned adjacent to a rotatable hub. A bobbin core from the plurality of stacked bobbin cores in the first chute is received into a bobbin core holder on the rotatable hub. The rotatable hub is then rotated with hub driving means such that the bobbin core holder on the rotatable hub moves from the second end of the first chute to a first end of a second chute, the first end of the second chute being positioned adjacent to the rotatable hub. The second chute also includes a second end positioned adjacent to the bobbin winding device. The bobbin core previously received into the bobbin core holder is then dispensed onto the bobbin winding device by passing the bobbin core through the second chute.

  • Patent number: 5564152
Abstract: The invention relates to a toothbrush (20), the brush head (22) of which can be removed from a brush handle (24). A threaded pin (26) can be moved to a limited extent out of the brush handle (24), counter to the action of a prestressing spring (32), when the brush head (22) is screwed onto the pin, until a stop catch (36) of the brush head (22) engages in a recess (38) of the brush handle (24) and locks the brush head in the rotational direction, while the prestressing spring (32) holds the brush head (22) under prestress against the brush handle (24). A firm connection can thus be established simply and rapidly between the brush handle and the brush head, irrespective of the shape of these parts.

  • Patent number: 5520351
Abstract: A method and apparatus for maintaining a moving string of waxed thread at a tension. A tensioner mounting frame has a thread input opening for receiving waxed thread from a thread supply, and a thread output opening for outputting the string of waxed thread at a preset tension. A tensioner arm with a plurality of eyelets affixed thereto is provided for guiding the string of waxed thread. The tensioner arm is pivotally connected to the tensioner mounting frame. A plurality of tensioner rods are also provided for guiding the string of waxed thread, the plurality of tensioner rods are rigidly affixed to the tensioner mounting frame. A spring, having a first end coupled to the tensioner mounting frame and a second end coupled to the tensioner arm, creates a tension in the string of waxed thread. A heating device is affixed to the tensioner mounting frame and is provided for warming the apparatus during its operation.
