Abstract: A method is described for the preconditioning of an adsorbent, such as activated carbon, prior to charging the adsorbent into a reaction vessel of a vapor recovery system. The method includes the steps of (1) treating the adsorbent in order to establish in the adsorbent a residual heel of vapor of the type to be subsequently adsorbed in vapor recovery processing and (2) adding the treated and, therefore, preconditioned adsorbent to the reaction vessel of the vapor recovery system. In this way vapor recovery system downtime is significantly reduced.
Abstract: A temperature probe 3 determines the instantaneous ambient temperature of a multiphase fluid 2 flowing through a pipe 1, and at a position further downstream there is an inlet 4 for water at a constant temperature significantly different from that of the fluid 2 injected at timed intervals through a high pressure water jet nozzle 5. The effect of the jet is to mix the injected water intimately with the fluid 2 flowing through the pipe and create a localised pulse of heated (or cooled) fluid which then flows through the pipe 1 to be measured by a further temperature probe 10 and possibly by yet another probe 11 at positions downstream of the nozzle 5. The time taken for the localised heated pulse of fluid to travel along a fixed length of the pipe 1 can be measured, and will be a function of the rate of flow of the fluid through the pipe.

Abstract: An absorber fluid circuit is provided for a volatile liquid vapor recovery system. The vapor recovery system includes at least one adsorbent bed for capturing volatile liquid vapor, a vacuum pump for regenerating the adsorbent bed, a heat exchanger for cooling the vacuum pump, an absorber tower for condensing volatile liquid vapor and an absorber fluid source. The absorber fluid circuit includes an absorber fluid supply pump and a first conduit for directing absorber fluid from the absorber fluid source to the supply pump. A second conduit directs absorber fluid from the supply pump to both the heat exchanger and absorber tower. A third conduit returns spent absorber fluid from the heat exchanger and absorber tower back to the absorber fluid source.
Abstract: A process and apparatus are provided for recovering volatile liquid vapors from an air-volatile liquid vapor mixture. The process includes: (1) cooling the mixture to condense volatile liquid vapors and moisture; (2) collecting the condensed volatile liquid vapors and moisture; (3) circulating the cooled and dehumidified mixture through a bed of adsorbent; and (4) desorbing and recovering the volatile liquids from the bed. The apparatus includes a refrigeration unit, a cooler for cooling the mixture, a reaction vessel including a bed of adsorbent, a pump, an absorber tower and a conduit system for circulating the mixture from the cooler to the vessel to the pump to the absorber tower. Heat may be recovered from the refrigerant and used to heat the bed during desorption.

Abstract: A shock absorbing device is disclosed, allowing reducing the vehicle weight at least by half. The device includes a tubular housing (TH) and within it a resilient shock dampening assembly (SDS) elastically axially movable is secured, through one or more inter coiled preliminary extended tension coil springs 6 and (6a). (SDS) also is locked to (TH) by a locking ring (8), in order to preserve said preliminary extension. (SDS) includes a plurality of telescopic sections, (UTS), (ITS2), (ITS1), and (LTS), resiliently supported by a plurality of compression coil springs (1), (2), and (3), interposed between them, designed to absorb average shocks. When the greater shock forces after entirely compressing the springs reach their predetermined unlocking level, rather than bottoming, ring (8) is opened, allowing the (SDS) to extend axially upward, opposed by springs (6) and (6a).
Abstract: A universal mounting system for mounting communication equipment of various sizes within an automobile. The console's universal mounting system allows for the mounting of any of a wide variety of relatively standard communication equipment. The universality of the mounting system allows for field upgrading or repositioning of the communication equipment without replacing or making changes in the mounting hardware.
Abstract: A metal patio chair has a seat frame made by the steps of providing a pair of seat rails in the form of elongated metal tubes, placing a mandrel inside each tube to reinforce the wall of the tube, punching a series of spaced apart holes in the wall of the tube while the mandrel contained in the tube holds the shape of the tube while punching out the holes, removing the mandrel, providing a plurality of metal slats having a cross-sectional shape to match the shape of the holes punched in the seat rail tubes, inserting ends of the metal slats in corresponding pairs of holes formed in the tubes to form a ladder type chair frame in which opposite ends of the slats are held captive in corresponding holes in the tubes, and are rigidly securing the slats to the seat rail tubes to lock the slats in palce in the tubes to provide a rigid seat frame structure elevated above the ground by a supporting sub-structure to which the finished seat frame is attached.
Abstract: A compressed gas actuated, portable fluid delivery system including separate disposable components which provides multiple, precisely rate controlled administration of medical fluids to patients. A pressurization housing includes a holder for a liquid gas cylinder, a mechanism for piercing the cylinder and connecting the cylinder output in a sealed relationship to an output tube through pressure regulators and a pressure gauge. The pressurization housing includes a safety latch interconnected to a pressure on-off valve for preventing opening the housing while pressurized. The output tube leads to a pressure chamber in which a flexible bag containing a fluid to be delivered may be placed. Pressure within the chamber squeezes the bag, forcing fluid through a fluid output tube to, in seriatim, a particulate filter, a binary flow control valve assembly, an air eliminating filter and finally to a fitting adapted to connect to an administration device such as a hypodermic needle, nasal tube or the like.
