    Abstract: A friction clutch includes an iron inner clutch plate and two iron outer clutch plates. Each clutch plate has a sliding surface that friction-engages with the other clutch plates. A diamond-like carbon film containing silicon, which functions as a solid lubricant, is formed on the sliding surface of each outer clutch plate through a conventional method such as plasma chemical vapor deposition. The diamond-like carbon film contains 1 wt % to 80 wt % of silicon. A coupling device includes a pilot clutch mechanism that has the friction clutch and an electromagnetic actuator. As a result, the friction clutch has an improved resistance to wear, and the coupling device is durable.

    Abstract: An electromagnetic valve includes a valve body, a valve element, a movable iron core, a guide tube, a coil, a yoke, and a fixed iron core. The valve body includes a fluid flow path. The valve element is movable and seated on a valve seat provided in the fluid flow path of the valve body. The movable iron core moves the valve element with respect to the valve seat. The guide tube is cylindrical and movably supports the movable iron core. The coil is mounted on an outer periphery of the guide tube. The yoke covers an outside of the coil and forms a magnetic circuit. The fixed iron core is provided facing the movable iron core and attracts the movable iron core by energization of the coil. The valve body is coupled to the guide tube on one opening end side of the guide tube, and the fixed iron core is provided on an other end side of the guide tube with a clearance spaced from an inside of the guide tube.

    Abstract: A plurality of segmented chips are reinforced by applying an adhesive to the circumferentially opposite end portions thereof, and the adjoining segmented chips adjoining in the circumferential direction are adhered to the circumferential surface of a disc-like core with the adhesives at the circumferentially opposite end portions being not jointed with each other. Thus, the segmented chips can be prevented from being loaded with an unnatural force even when the disc-like core with the segmented chips adhered thereto expands and contracts radially due to thermal expansion and thermal contract. Thereby, expansion and contraction of the disc-like core do not impose a compression stress or the like on adhesives situated between adjoining segmented chips.

If it is determined that electric current flow has failed in a certain phase, the microcomputer prohibits the field weakening control and outputs a motor control signal instructing to use two other phases free from the failure of electric current flow as electric current flowing phases (two phase drive mode, step 204).
