  • Publication number: 20070205041
Abstract: An electric power steering system is provided which is capable of providing a favorable steering feeling without using compensation logics such as of inertia compensation and friction compensation. The electric power steering system includes road-noise suppression control means (213) for controlling a steering assist motor (9) in a manner to damp torque transmission in a higher frequency region representing road noises than a frequency region representing road information. A friction value of a steering mechanism (A) is decreased enough to allow the intrinsic vibrations of the steering mechanism (A) to appear. Rotor inertia of the steering assist motor (9) is set to a value small enough to allow the frequencies of the intrinsic vibrations to be present in the frequency region where the torque transmission is damped by the road-noise suppression control means (213).

  • Publication number: 20070201704
Abstract: A detection signal of sound or vibration detected at an evaluation point is filtered so that an evaluation waveform signal is extracted. Then, a mother wavelet is derived using this. On the other hand, each of detection signals of sound or vibration detected at a plurality of candidate points is filtered so that each candidate waveform signal is extracted. These candidate waveform signals are processed by wavelet transformation using the derived mother wavelet. Then, on the basis of the result, instantaneous correlation is calculated between each candidate waveform signal and the mother wavelet. Then, on the basis of mutual comparison of the calculated instantaneous correlation, a generation source of the sound or vibration that appears at the evaluation point is identified.

Abstract: An electric power steering system includes: a band-stop filter 15a having a transfer function G1(s) for suppressing resonance, and a phase compensator 15b having a transfer function G2(s). The above function G1(s) is represented by an expression G1(s)=(s2+2?11?1+?12)/(s2+2?12?1+?12), where s: a Laplace operator, ?11: a damping coefficient, ?12: a damping coefficient, and ?1: an angular frequency. On the other hand, the above function G2(s) is represented by an expression G2(s)=(s2+2?21?2+?22)/(s2+2?22?2+?22), where s: a Laplace operator, ?21: a damping coefficient, ?22: a damping coefficient, and ?1: an angular frequency. Furthermore, the above damping coefficients ?21, ?22 satisfy an expression ?2124 ?22?1. Thus, a filter such as a phase compensator may attain a design freedom while preventing the increase of arithmetic load, whereby both the suppression of resonance and a good assist response in a normal steering speed region, for example, may be achieved.

  • Patent number: 7258185
Abstract: Front and rear wheels Tf, Tr of a motor vehicle driven by an engine 10 are connected through a differential control device 15 which is capable of varying the torque to transmit. When the turning radius of a predetermined one wheel or the motor vehicle is equal to or smaller than a predetermined turning radius, the transmission torque of the differential control device is decreased by a control device to prevent the tight-corner braking phenomenon from occurring. When the motor vehicle is stopped momentarily with the transmission torque being lowered, the control device maintains the transmission torque as it is, and the vehicle is then restarted with the transmission torque being lowered. Thus, when the motor vehicle which was stopped momentarily with a large steering angle is then restarted, the tight-corner braking phenomenon can be prevented from occurring from the beginning of the restarting.

Abstract: In a steering apparatus, in accordance with a grip limit control process (30b?), it is determined whether or not a grip degree ? estimated by a grip degree estimation arithmetically operating process (30a) is less than a predetermined grip degree (??), and in the case that it is determined that an estimated grip degree (?) is less than the predetermined grip degree (??), the process applies such a feeling that a steering operation by a steering wheel suddenly becomes light to a driver, by suddenly increasing an assist quantity by a motor (M), thereby notifying the driver of the matter that the grip degree of a steered wheel is close to a limit. Therefore, it is possible to transmit to the driver a probability that a side slip is generated by further turning the steering wheel 21 in the same direction as the current direction, thereby calling the driver's attention for steering.
